Special edition Droid RAZR MAXX HD for Verizon employees leaked

Remember a while back we reported that Verizon employees would soon be able to get their hands on special edition models of the Droid RAZR MAXX HD, Windows Phone 8X or the DROID DNA? Well if you were hoping that some enterprising Verizon employee would put his or her model up on eBay, thanks to a leak we may know how what to expect. Pictured above appears to be the Droid RAZR MAXX HD but with a different back designed meant exclusively for Verizon employees. It features a pretty hypnotic looking design and the power button has been colored red as well, pretty nifty! Each model will be marked with the “LIMITED EDITION” text and will feature a number to indicate its limited availability, but apart from the facelift, don’t expect the internals of either handset to differ from the original. In any case we expect that these special edition handsets will appeal to collectors or to those who have the need to stand out from the crowd, so keep an eye out on eBay or Craigslist if you think that this is a handset you wouldn’t mind owning.

Android 4.1.2 ROM leaked for Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100)

If you own an international Samsung Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100), you might be pleased to know that a leaked Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean ROM has made its way onto the internet, and based on the feedback of those who have flashed it, this build appears to be pretty stable which could be an indication that Samsung could be close to rolling it out to the masses. As expected, this ROM will bring the same features and experience that one might be able to expect from Jelly Bean, which means that users can look forward to Project Butter along with a host of other features. This ROM does contain minor bugs according to some, but then again that’s more or less to be expected. In any case this will require you to know how to flash ROMs onto your phone, so if you are unfamiliar perhaps you should give this a miss until the official update has been rolled out, or you could always go ahead and do your homework before proceeding. The ROM and the flashing instructions can be found here and as always, proceed with caution!

Another possible Huawei Windows Phone device spotted?

It seems that the Huawei Ascend W1 might not be the only Windows Phone that the Chinese company has up their sleeves. Thanks to what appears to be a series of leaked photos, another possible Huawei Windows Phone device has been spotted. Based on what we can see, this particular device has a rather large display, unsurprising given the large displays on the Nokia Lumia 920 and the HTC 8X. It also features capacitive buttons and seems like an 8MP rear-facing camera on the back. Of course there is no way to verify the authenticity of this device, so it could very well be a fake for all we know. Either way we won’t read too much into this and suggest you do the same, but nevertheless we’ll keep an eye out for more news regarding Huawei’s Windows Phone efforts, and hopefully some official information will be made available soon.

Leaked photo shows possible Windows Phone 8 build 10141 in the works

While Windows Phone 8 has been officially released and Windows Phone 8 devices are already on sale, it seems that a medium update could be headed Windows Phone 8 owners in the future. Pictured above appears to be a photo of a Nokia Lumia device with a Windows Phone 8 build 10141, which is most definitely several steps ahead of the current version sitting at build 9903. Some have speculated that this update could address several features on Windows Phone 8 that Microsoft reportedly felt a bit rushed in order to meet its deadline, while some have indicated that maybe this build could have been targeted at the Chinese market.

However as WPCentral has noted, if this was indeed an update for the Chinese market, the disparity between the build versions would not be as big. In any case with WP8 being the latest release from Microsoft so far, we doubt we will be seeing major updates (i.e. Mango to Tango) any time soon. Like we reported a couple of days ago, it was revealed that a fix for the WiFi bug is incoming so perhaps it could be included in this version. Either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled, so check back with us later for more details!

Alleged 4-inch Samsung Galaxy Axiom leaks, could be headed to US Cellular

Alleged 4inch Samsung Galaxy Axiom leaks, could be headed to US Cellular

The always-informative evleaks has done it yet again. This time out it’s not a Lumia 920 or some revealing press shots of the PadFone 2, though — instead, what we have here is what appears to be a variant of Samsung’s recently announced Galaxy Mini. According to evleaks, this 4-inch handset will be officially known as the Galaxy Axiom (model SCH-R830), and could very well end up on US Cellular, bringing with it a WVGA display alongside a decent dual-core, 1.2GHz MSM8960 CPU, LTE and Ice Cream Sandwich. Naturally, take this with a grain of salt, but given the messenger’s recent track record, it also wouldn’t surprise us if we hear something more official in the days to come. In the meantime, however, it looks as if the picture above will have to suffice.

Samsung ATIV Odyssey press rendering leaked

The Samsung ATIV Odyssey for Verizon is expected to launch in December, but apart from the purported specs, we have yet to get an actual glimpse of the device, until now. The reliable folks at @evleaks have managed to get their hands on what looks like a leaked press rendering of the Samsung ATIV Odyssey for Verizon. There’s not much to say about the design since it doesn’t look all that outstanding to be honest, but with its purported specs we expect that this is a phone that will be able to get the job done and more. For those who haven’t been following the news, the ATIV Odyssey is said to feature a dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 4G LTE connectivity, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera along with a 4.65” Super AMOLED display with Microsoft’s latest Windows Phone 8 on board. No specific release date was mentioned but December is the timeframe we have been given, so check back with us later for more updates.

Alleged Sony C6603 Yuga photos leaked

Towards the end of October, photos of the Sony C6603 “Yuga” were spotted. Unfortunately those photos only gave us a partial glimpse of the device, but thanks to the folks at Android Schweiz, they have managed to get their hands on more photos of the Yuga, showing off the handset in all of its glory. Now based on what we can see, it looks like the current photos and the previous photos are similar which at the very least provides a degree of consistency. It also appears that with the Yuga, Sony will be taking a departure from their traditional design seen in previous Xperia devices. (more…)

HTC Droid DNA revealed once more in alleged leaked press rendering

A few days ago the folks @evleaks managed to get their hands on what appeared to be a picture of the HTC Droid DNA, HTC’s take on the phablet or also known as the HTC J Butterfly in Japan. That being said, @evleaks is back with what appears to be the cleanest image we have of the device and what looks like a press rendering of the handset, pretty much showing off the phone in all of its glory. It also shows Verizon’s branding on the handset which leaves little doubt as to what Verizon’s event on the 13th of November could be about. That and the fact that the background of the Droid DNA looks similar to the invite Verizon and HTC sent out helps corroborate the speculation.

While the HTC Droid DNA is said to resemble the HTC J Butterfly, there is always the off-chance that it could have been modified for Verizon. However assuming that the handset has not been touched, we can assume that it will feature the same 5” 1080p display, a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor and a 13MP camera on the back. Of course since there is no official word from either Verizon or HTC, we suggest you take this with a grain of salt for now, but do check back with us next week for the details!

LG Optimus Regard photo leaked, appears to be headed for Cricket

The ever-so reliable folks at @evleaks have managed to get their hands on a photo of a device dubbed the LG Optimus Regard. Based on the alleged specs, it seems that the Optimus Regard will be headed towards Cricket and will be the carrier’s first 4G LTE handset. No word on when it will be launched, but based on the image above it looks like it will most likely see a release before 2012 is out. So what sort of specs are we looking at here? Well for starters we can expect a 3.5” – 3.7” display with a resolution of 320×480. It will be powered by a dual-core ARMv7 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 710MB of RAM, a 5MP rear-facing camera and will come with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich on board along with 4G LTE connectivity. Not the most powerful phone we know, but given its specs we expect that the LG Optimus Regard will be a low-cost solution for people who just want LTE speeds. Either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled, so check back with us later for more updates.
