Spigen Crumena iPhone 5 Leather Pouch Offers Elegant Protection, Despite Its Odd Name

I’ve never really used pouches much for my devices, but I can see the appeal. It cuts down on the bulk of a case, and leaves your gadget devoid of any bulky add-ons when you pull it out to use it. This particular leather pouch looks particularly nice.

The Spigen Crumena pouch is made for the iPhone 5. Its makers use genuine calf skin leather, protecting your precious iPhone from harm, while looking elegant. The inside has a softer liner and a magnetic pull tab that holds your iPhone securely in place. It also makes it easier to access.

You can get the Crumena iPhone 5 pouch from Spigen for $29.99(USD) in brown, black or white leather.

Since most drops tend to happen when you are actually using your phone, I’d still like to see a holster that has enough room to accomodate one inside of a case.

Put Down Your Gun and Pick up a Book (or is that the Other Way Around?)

Take a look at the gun this woman is wielding. Sure it doesn’t looks like it could fire any ammo, but it still looks pretty badass. What if I told you it wasn’t a gun at all, but it was a custom-bound book? Libertarians Librarians, rejoice!

Yes, this impressive bit of hand book-binding is the work of Montreal’s Strikebooks Bindery. It’s designed to look like a full-size sub-machine gun, but is actually a functional writing journal.

Inside, of the leather covers, you’ll find 84 pages of high-end blank paper, along with black suede endpapers. It’s not exactly the most practical of places to keep your diary, but it’s definitely unique. Of course, all this meticulous craftsmanship comes at a price, with the sub-machine gun book selling for about $523 (USD), and taking about a month to build to order.

They also sell a smaller book that looks like a revolver, and it goes for about $240.

Let’s Hope This Beautiful Leather iPhone Sleeve Gets an Upgrade This Week [Cases]

It’s as functional as it is simple, but if you have any intentions of upgrading your iPhone in the very near future, you’re unfortunately going to want to pass on Evouni’s lovely leather sleeve stand. All evidence points to the next-generation iPhone being taller than the current model, which means this sleeve will simply be too small. More »

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Leather Cover hands-on

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Leather Cover handson

Those prone to throwing their e-readers into backpacks and messenger bags know the value of a good case — and Amazon clearly does, as well. Last time around, the company offered up a lighted version for the Kindle Touch — obviously that technology’s no longer needed on the Paperwhite. The design is fairly similar, however, with a form-fitting plastic back and a leather front — this time out, however, the front and back are bit more textured. The case also has a magnet on its front and inside, helping it close more securely. As with its predecessor, the inside is cloth, to help protect the Kindle’s screen and bezel. Best of all, there’s a light sensor built-in, so the reader sleeps and wakes as you open and close it. The case is up for order now on Amazon’s site for a cool $40. It comes in a rainbow of six colors.

BioShock Wallet: for Big Daddies & Little Gamers Alike

A very nice custom made leather wallet commisioned by BioShock fan Josh McKinney from Steph of Sova Leatherworks. It has a detailed etching of Big Daddy and a silhouette of Rapture on the other.

I wonder if it’s waterproof.

Unfortunately Steph won’t be accepting any more commissions until after Christmas to catch up on her previous orders. Meanwhile check out her other game-themed wallets and her website while you think of a design for your wallet.

Sennheiser’s Momentum headphones bring their leathery, metal goodness to IFA, we go hands-on (video)

Now these are some seriously nice-looking headphones — and really, that’s sort of the thing here. After all, internally, these cans are quite similar to older models from Sennheiser, and spending a little time underneath them was a fully engrossing experience, the cups dampening out a lot of noise of the show floor even without music playing. What was even more immediately noticeable about the Momentum, however, was just how comfortable they were, thanks in no small part, to the use of hair-sheep skin straight out of Somerset, England — yep, if you’re anti-leather, these aren’t the headphones for you. But man, the material feels really, really nice.

The headphones are also quite light, which helps, so they shouldn’t be too much of a strain when you wear them on the go — and the Sennheiser rep we spoke with assured us that your ears still breathe well with them on, unlike a lot of over-ear pairs. The headband is made of a brushed stainless steel, which meets even more leather on the top of the headphones. Move down the wire and you’ll see a panel with three buttons — these control volume and let you pick up calls on your iPhone. Further down still ia a metal jack that bends, so you can keep the headphones at either a 180- or 90-degree angle from your device.

Of course, all that fine sheep leather and metal doesn’t come cheap — these guys will run you a cool $350 when they hit the states this fall. Check out a hands-on video after the break.

Sennheiser launches the Momentum retro-cans and CX890i earbuds

Sennheiser launches the Momentum

Sennheiser is busting out a pair of personal audio products worth boasting about at this year’s IFA. First up is the very fashionable Momentum, a pair of chrome and leather cans that take cues from the Amperior reference design, with a 3.5mm stereo lead and optional smart remote. However, if you’re in the market for something a little less visible, the company’s CX 890i earphones are coated in a “glass-like” finish that offers “outsanding” passive noise attenuation — sparing you jacking up the volume to avoid your co-workers bickering. Both sets are available in the UK from September, with the Momentum costing £260 and the CX 890i (pictured after the break) a more modest £120.
