Legend Of Zelda Remade For Oculus Rift

I am quite sure that those of you who grew up as a kid in the 1980s would have heard of the Legend of Zelda, which happens to be one of the best video games created to date – never mind that one should not take the 8-bit graphics into consideration against today’s Full HD resolution. How does one turn an infallible classic into a legend? Certainly this is one “wheel” that needs no reinvention, where the 8-bit game has now been remade as a first-person game for the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset.

Legend of Zelda Pizza: A Link to the Pepperoni

It’s dangerous to go alone. Take this. Just make sure that you cut it into Tri-Force shapes. This Legend of Zelda inspired pizza was made by denacem to celebrate the 28th anniversary of the release of Legend of Zelda.

This is the tastiest Legend of Zelda treat you will see all day. You will want to eat it, but you can’t. It’s just an image. It’s also raw, so you’ll get sick.

There, that’s better. Though Link’s hammy face seems to have disappeared into the tomato sauce after baking.

You can’t beat a Link made from green peppers on a pizza. Though he looks kind of mean. It needs another sword just so it can have more bacon. Now I’m hungry again. I really have to stop writing about food. Is it lunch time yet?

Video Game Character Tombstones: Sad Spoilers

Etsy shop Chinook Crafts is a treasure trove of geeky trinkets. I was going to feature its Pokémon Kanto gym badges by way of GoNintendo when I spotted an unusual category in the shop’s list: tombstones.

video game character tombstones by chinook crafts 620x505magnify

But if we think about it it’s actually kind of surprising that we don’t see more of these. Video games are ripe with death after all, from the ones we don’t even think about…

…to the ones whose deaths are given and thus inconsequential.

video game character tombstones by chinook crafts 3 620x436magnify

There are also deaths that jump start a game…

…including ones that turned out to be the start of an alternate reality and an entire series of games.

And as in real life, there are deaths in games that we’ll never forget, the ones that will leave you reeling in shock and despair. Like, The Transformers animated movie level of shock and despair.

The tombstones cost $10 (USD) each plus a variable amount of sadness. Check out Chinook Crafts for more designs. You creep.

    Pixelated Zelda Cookies: 8-Bit Bites

It’s dangerous to go alone on an empty stomach. Take these. Doesn’t Link look delicious? Legend of Zelda, meet the legend of my hunger. These adorable and beautiful looking cookies were made Trinh Phan aka TheCookieCrave and they really are a geek work of art.

I love how colorful they look and I bet they taste amazing.

And you have to give their maker credit, she could have just posted the photo online, basked in all of our adoration and kept the recipe for herself while she sold them, raking in the Rupees. But no. She has given the world the recipe on her blog so that we can all make them and enjoy.

Wake up Energized with a Zelda Life Bar on Your Headboard

By the time you go to bed at night, you’re pretty worn down from the day’s events. Your life bar must be close to zero. Some sleep will help and that life bar will be full in the morning. If you want a visual reminder of this, just add a pixelated The Legend of Zelda life bar to your headboard.

These 8-bit hearts were attached to a wood headboard with screws and they make this bed look extra geeky. To make one yourself, just make a pattern of the hearts, then use a jigsaw to cut them out of wood. After that, just add paint. You now have a cool life bar on your headboard.

Hyrulean Leather Journals Are a Thing of Beauty

A plain old journal is not good enough for the video game fanatic. Especially after you have laid eyes on these amazing books. These mythical journals were inspired by the Legend of Zelda games and they get all of the details pitch perfect. Just look at that dyed leather and brass.

    zelda journal 1 620x802magnify

These journals come from MilleCuirs who has an amazing eye for design. The leather is embossed with the Hylian crest, and the Triforce symbol stands out in metal. The interior pages are even dyed by hand so they look aged and the interior covers are made from hand-marbled paper.

Legend Of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Trailer Introduces Zelda And Hilda

How many of us guys grew up thinking that there is a particular damsel in distress who needs our help as she is more often than not trapped in some particular dastardly situation? Well, Zelda is one princess (alongside Princess Peach of Mario fame) who does seem to need some rescuing every now and then, and Link is the one who manages to save the world over and over again. While gameplay of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds has been seen before, plenty of it has not been focused on the story and setting, but rather, on the gameplay itself. Nintendo has released a new trailer that you can view above, which will feature two princesses – Zelda and Hilda. Somehow, Hilda sounds more like a witch than a princess, but that is just a personal opinion.

Princess Hilda of Lorule would be her full salutation, which does not sound too regal IMHO. Well, at least there is Hyrule and Lorule, which can be “High” and “Low” if you think about it. Sounds ridiculous? Perhaps, but at least it gets the settings right before one starts to play. Will you be on the lookout for the Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds this November 22nd?

Zelda Triforce Ring Seals the Deal

This isn’t the first Legend of Zelda ring that someone used to seal the deal, and it probably won’t be the last. This particular one was created by Paul Michael Design and features three special stones set in the middle, forming the Triforce.

    triforce wedding ring 620x620magnify

Three bands seemingly emerge from the middle of it, snaking around its wearer’s finger as a symbol of eternal love. But that’s just my interpretation.

On a side note, I wonder if the person who’s holding the ring intentionally muddied his finger before the photo was taken. Was he trying to channel Link, who we presume has dirty digits because of all the stuff he has to do in order to save Zelda? Nope. It’s just proof that the jeweler works hard to create such awesome stuff.
