Here’s a proposal that could cure Mega Man fans of their disappointment with how Capcom has treated the beloved platformer in recent years: LEGO toy sets based on Mega Man 2. Then again, knowing how Cuusoo works this could just be another source of disappointment.

The proposal was put forward by Flickr user Alatariel, who made the mock-ups using LEGO Digital Designer. I’m not sure if she wants to have all of the boss stages represented, but so far the only mock-ups are for a Wood Man stage, a Metal Man stage and a Bubble Man stage. She also made designs for Dr. Wily, his castle as well as his infamous teleportation room. The other robot masters are also represented, but as I said she didn’t make mock-ups of their stages.

Jump and shoot to LEGO Cuusoo to vote for Alatariel’s proposal. If she gathers at least 10,000 votes then LEGO will review the feasibility of the concept. Ah, the original Macintosh computer. It was an amazing machine to have in your home, especially when most of the other available computers were a bit more complex to use. The Macintosh made things easier, with its graphical user interface, and apps like MacPaint and MacWrite. While it’s not as functional as an original Mac, this LEGO version is still pretty cute.

This miniature LEGO replica of the classic Macintosh was created by Chris McVeigh (aka PowerPig), a Canadian toy photographer, t-shirt designer, old school gamer and LEGO builder from Halifax. This little LEGO Macintosh is a replica of the one shown in an early ad for the computer, featuring the iconic ‘hello’ scrawled across the screen using MacPaint.

Chris soon plans on posting a building a guide for who want to make this at home. In the mean time you can download his Digital Designer plans for a LEGO iMac, iPod and iPad. I wonder if you could put a Raspberry Pi and an LCD screen into this little build and actually make it into a working Hackintosh?

The Google Science Fair began in 2011 as a way to spur a love of science among teens and, just possibly, spark a few breakthroughs for science as a whole. It’s back for a third year, and there’s big improvements to both the competition’s technology and rewards. The 2013 Fair will have Google+ Hangouts on Air for help and motivation, as well as to introduce us to the 15 finalists during the vote for a public-chosen award in August. The early talks will include Segway pioneer Dean Kamen and sea explorer Fabien Cousteau, among others. Finalists once again get prizes from Google itself, Lego, National Geographic and Scientific American, but there’s extra bonuses this year for the grand prize winner: along with the $50,000 scholarship, Galapagos Islands trip and other individual gifts, the winner’s school will get both $10,000 and a Hangout session with CERN. Young inventors have until the end of April 30th to submit their projects, and we’ll learn about the very cream of the crop on September 23rd.

If you only watch one video today, it should be this one. You will discover that it is footage of a DIY LEGO pancake maker which is, in my expert opinion, the best thing to come out of Norway since the fjords. Created by Miguel Valenzuela, an American maker abroad, the project has been around for a few years but this video shows us how the project works in detail, further proving that the nascent robotic-pancake-making scene is a cultural juggernaut waiting to explode.

The project uses LEGO and a ketchup bottle to squirt and cook pancake batter on a built-in griddle. While it is not able to feed us directly using a robotic arm, I definitely see a future for this sort of device in the homes of the catastrophically DIY-oriented, because I’d personally be afraid to trust LEGO to cook my pancakes for me.
