Motorized LEGO Tumbler: Where Does He Get Those Wonderful Toys?

This LEGO motorized Tumbler is so detailed that you might think it was made by Wayne Industries, but it was actually made by a guy named Sariel. The man should build for Batman himself – or at least change his name to Lucius.

LEGO Umbrella Actually Keeps You Dry

LEGO bricks are incredibly versatile things. You can build just about anything with them, as is proven by artist Nathan Sawaya and his latest creation – the LEGO umbrella.

While you can’t really tell from the image above, the LEGO umbrella is able to keep water off of its user, although its weight probably makes it pretty impractical. Sawaya says it required “extreme patience” to create, and that’s coming from the guy who made a life-size LEGO statue of Conan O’Brien – though he wasn’t standing in the rain.

Nathan created the umbrella for a collaboration with photographer Dean West for a series that’s currently on exhibit at the Columbus Museum of Art as part of the Think Outside the Brick show, running through January 27, 2013.

Check out more of Nathan’s awesome LEGO creations over on his website, Brickartist.

How Tall Can a Lego Tower Be Before It Crushes Itself?

Every building material has a theoretical limit which it can’t be used beyond: at some point, the weight of material above is enough to crush what’s below. Now, a team of engineers has worked out that limit for Lego—and it’s surprisingly high. More »

Solid Gold LEGO Brick Costs Almost $15,000

If you’ve recently won the Powerball jackpot and don’t know what to blow your money on, consider this solid gold LEGO brick that will cost you $14,449.99(USD). It’s an official building piece from LEGO, so it isn’t just some knockoff.
Gold Lego
This brick is 25.65g of 14K gold and it is the same size and shape as the original 2×4 LEGO brick. It’s just worth a heck of a lot more. These bricks were given to LEGO employees that had 25 years of employment at the Hohenwestedt, Germany factory from about 1979-1981, when gold wasn’t worth as much.

This one is for sale if you have the money to spare and need some bling added to your LEGO creations. At least it comes with a nice box to store it in.

Wooden LEGO Minifigs: Because Plastic LEGO People Aren’t Enough

I think LEGO should be a huge part of every kid’s childhood. For one, it’s a toy that develops motor skills and requires kids to think while having fun in the process. Sounds totally win-win to me.

But if you prefer your stuff all natural and biodegradable, then you’ll be pleased to know that someone out there has carved some wooden LEGO-like parts that form a LEGO guy when put together.

Wood Carved Lego

Looks pretty awesome, doesn’t it? This wooden minifig was carved by Thibaut MALET, who hails from France. The entire toy isn’t hinged, though, so you can expect it to have limited flexibility.

The bad news? They’re all sold out already. Thibaut explains that only twenty numbered figures made, so if you were one of the twenty people who were able to buy one, then lucky you.
