LG has new IPS displays in store for CES 2013

You know that CES 2013 is going to be a blast when different consumer electronics companies come together and hope to wow the world with what they are able to offer. LG of South Korea is definitely one of them, and you can expect them to have a blast at CES this year (which is just happening next week, can you believe it!), where they will parade, among many other consumer electronics goodies, their stunning UltraWide, ColorPrime and Touch 10 monitors that feature specialized functionality and stellar IPS technology.

Yes sir, LG’s latest collection of spanking new IPS monitors will debut at CES 2013, where this high caliber range will include innovative concepts that help cater to the needs of the specialist as well as the everyday, casual user. Comprising of the UltraWide, ColorPrime and Touch 10 range, there is something for everyone, and all three models come with IPS technology to ensure that the kind of visuals your eyeballs enjoy are exceptional to say the least. We are talking about next generation picture quality that LG hopes will be the benchmark for displays for the year ahead.

For instance, LG’s EA93 UltraWide monitor is touted to be the world’s first monitor to feature a 21:9 aspect ratio, measuring a whopping 29” in size, it delivers outstanding multitasking and multimedia capabilities. It is also an ideal replacement for your living room TV, and comes with LG’s immersive, thin-bezel Cinema Screen Design. If you need to perform some serious multitasking, then the 4-Screen Split feature would be able to conveniently divide the UltraWide’s screen into four discrete segments.

As for the Touch 10 Monitor, this is a Windows 8 optimized device that delivers 10-finger Touch Control, all 23-inches of it. This would translate to a quicker and more natural typing experience whenever you make use of the Windows 8 on-screen keyboard, and smartphone users ought to take to it like a duck to water. With so many displays to choose from, we’re spoiled for choice for 2013 when it comes to monitors.

The phone has been available at select locations since November, but an internal document uncovered by TmoNews promises a full rollout for sometime in January — touting the Nexus 4’s 8MP camera, quad-core processor and 4.7-inch display. The notice didn’t give a specific availability date, but gave stores the green light to sell the device as soon as they receive inventory. The document is also careful to remind employees that the Nexus 4 can still be had through Google and stresses that devices purchased through Play are not eligible for exchange at T-Mobile stores. Skip on past the break to see T-Mobile’s availability expansion notice.

LG unveils new Cinema 3D Smart TV range

CES 2013 is the platform where LG will state their intention in the TV arena, where that is when they unveil their new range of Cinema 3D Smart TVs. It is said that the 2013 range will deliver easier content access alongside sharing capability, and when coupled with an updated Magic Remote, one ought to be able to experience a simplified, intuitive user experience. It does not matter on the kind of budget that you have (or don’t), LG should have a little bit of something for everyone. Some of the models that we do know which will break the bank and will be paraded there include LG’s 84-inch Ultra HD and 55-inch OLED TVs, where the latter is said to cost approximately $10,000 a pop after conversion from the listed price in South Korea.

There is a new and improved SmartShare feature that allows users to mirror or transfer content from smart devices to LG Smart TVs using a host of connectivity options, where among them include WiDi and Miracast. I guess there is no excuse now not to hook up something to your TV, no? The 2013 range will also enhance inter-device sharing further by implementing Tag On, where this feature is said to be able to connect a couple of devices immediately for speedy media sharing. In order to make use of Tag On, all you need to do is hold a smartphone or other NFC-enabled device against the NFC sticker on a Cinema 3D Smart TV, and voila! Magic happens, or so that is what people from two centuries ago would think.

Not only that, the 2013 range will also support LG Cloud, where LG Cloud enables folks to remotely stream high-quality content from just about anywhere they are at that point in time. Are you in the market for one of LG’s new Cinema 3D Smart TVs when they arrive? If you are, then it’d be best to work out your budget ASAP as CES 2013 is happening just next week.

LG Boasts 1 Million Optimus Vu Units Sold In South Korea

vu1 LG Boasts 1 Million Optimus Vu Units Sold In South KoreaA couple of days ago we reported that Samsung had managed to sell 1 million Galaxy Note 2 units back in South Korea, but it looks like Samsung isn’t alone as their South Korean competitor, LG, has similarly announced that they too have managed to sell 1 million units of the LG Optimus Vu in South Korea as well. While congratulations are certainly in order, it should be noted that the LG Optimus Vu was launched much earlier than the Galaxy Note 2, meaning that it took LG longer to hit that 1 million mark compared to Samsung who only took 90 days. It should also been noted that apparently LG took sales on the Optimus Vu II into account, so those numbers might not be as accurate as you might think.

As a quick recap, the LG Optimus Vu is basically LG’s answer to the phablet trend and Samsung’s Galaxy Note device which had surprisingly caught on a lot better than many would have anticipated. However the LG Optimus Vu was designed differently from the Galaxy Note in the sense that it favored a slightly smaller screen at 5” and its weird 4:3 aspect ratio which made the device rather boxy and weird looking, not to mention probably not as ergonomic as one might think, but what do you guys think? Do you prefer the LG Optimus Vu or its successor, the Vu II, or the Samsung Galaxy Note 2?
