LG Optimus Vu receives “Value Pack” Ice Cream Sandwich update in Korea

In May this year, we said that the Optimus Vu, a 5-inch device running Android, will be receiving Ice Cream Sandwich. We also mentioned that the device will get several additional features that will take advantage of the extra-wide dimensions of the phone. But apparently it took LG a month to fulfill its promise. Today, LG is announcing that the 5-inch “phablet” will be getting a “Value Pack” upgrade, finally bringing Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the device as well as a slew of LG-specific tweaks to its note taking features, UI 3.0 and Quick Voice search. You can also check out a quick demo of the said update here. Note that the demo is in Korean, so muster those words properly. The Optimus Vu was first launched in Korea in April this year. It’s most probably LG’s answer to Samsung’s Galaxy Note, although the former has still a long way to go to topple the latter’s success. Availability in the U.S. has yet to be announced.
