LG Optimus G Pro To Come In Classy Black Soon

LG Optimus G Pro To Come In Classy Black SoonThe LG Optimus G Pro which was first released in its home country, South Korea (which is a move that makes perfect sense, of course), followed by a rollout in its neighbor over at Japan, where the smartphone came only in one color – white. Well, it seems that things are about to change for the LG Optimus G Pro pretty soon, as a black version is said to be hitting sales channels in due time, or at least according to deductions from LG Mobile’s official Facebook page.

In fact, an entire photo album that shows off the black version of the LG Optimus G Pro has been posted on Facebook, where this particular model is said to be headed for South Korea’s third largest mobile carrier – LG U+. As for the rest of the world, we will just have to wait with bated breath as LG did not mention whether this particular color of their flagship smartphone will roll out in other markets other than its native country or not. Folks living in the US, it has been rumored that the Optimus G Pro will hit AT&T next month.

LG Rumored To Host Event On 1st Of May, Possible US Announcement Of Optimus G Pro

LG Rumored To Host Event On 1st Of May, Possible US Announcement Of Optimus G ProAccording to a previous report, it has been suggested that the LG Optimus G Pro could arrive on AT&T come 10th of May, although so far there has not been any confirmation of sorts. However according to the folks at AndroidGuys, they claim that they have been tipped off by one of their readers that LG will be hosting an event on the 1st of May. Considering that the South Korean company has already announced its flagship phone, we doubt the event will be announcing a new device, which has led to the speculation that the event will most likely be the announcement of the US availability of the LG Optimus G Pro, and which carriers (apart from AT&T) it will be available on, prices and hopefully a release date as well. Since LG has not sent out any invites, the event in question might not even happen, so take this with a grain of salt for now, but check back with us in the coming weeks as we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info!

How would you change LG’s Optimus 4X HD?

LG Optimus 4X HD review runnerup to the quadcore throne

Last year, LG went on a campaign to rebuild its reputation as a smartphone maker that could play with the big boys. When we reviewed the Optimus 4X HD, we found that it deserved to be spoken in the same breath as the One X and Galaxy S III, and probably caught the attention of some folks over at Google. Many of you bought this handset, so the age-old question we’d like to ask is simple. What did you like, what did you loathe and if you were LG, what would you have changed?

LG Optimus F7 Set To Arrive At Boost Mobile

LG Optimus F7 Set To Arrive At Boost MobileIt was at Mobile World Congress earlier this year in February, that we were first treated to a view of the LG Optimus F7. Granted, it is “plain Janes” such as the LG Optimus F7 that will not receive that much attention from the masses, but this does not mean it is a handset to be overlooked in favor of flagship smartphones from other companies. In fact, the LG Optimus F7 does seem to shape up to be a decent mid-tier smartphone with specifications that would not make you blush, and it looks set to arrive on Boost Mobile – which is a network owned by the folks over at Sprint.

Just to refresh your memory, the LG Optimus F7 will come with a 4.7-inch True HD IPS display, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 2GB RAM, an 8-megapixel camera at the back, and Android 4.1.2 as the operating system of choice right out of the box. This would clearly set it up to provide decent competition against Boost Mobile’s current flagship device, the HTC One SV.

LG Optimus F7 leaked as potential suitor for Boost Mobile

LG Optimus F7 leaked as potential suitor for Boost Mobile

Travel back to the time of Mobile World Congress and you’ll surely recall the LG Optimus F7, a well-specced mid-tier smartphone that left us quite impressed. Now, @evleaks has shared a peek of the device that’s adorned with the Now Network’s branding, and if all goes according to plans, the serial leaker suggests the phone will soon hit Sprint-owned Boost Mobile. A few notable features of the Optimus F7 include a 4.7-inch True HD IPS display, a dual-core 1.5GHz CPU, an 8-megapixel primary camera, 2GB RAM and Android 4.1.2, which would pose a heavy challenge to Boost’s current premiere smartphone, the HTC One SV. Naturally, we’d certainly welcome the Optimus F7 on Sprint (and even Virgin Mobile), and given the Sprint Zone branding, we’ll remain cautiously hopeful that Dan Hesse is thinking the same.

LG Smart TVs add PayPal integration for easier home shopping

LG has baked PayPal into its latest smart TVs, streamlining payments and purchases for on-demand content, apps, and home shopping. The integration – which is available on 2013 sets in the US, UK, and Canada now, but will spread to other countries imminently – will allow PayPal users to log into their existing accounts and avoid having to enter credit card, shipping and billing addresses, and other details into their TV using an often-inconvenient onscreen keyboard.

Alternatively, those without an existing PayPal account will be able to set up a new one directly from their TV, using LG’s MagicRemote to gesture through the menus. From that point on, the account can be optionally left logged-in, remembering payment and shipping details for each subsequent purchase.

According to LG and PayPal, the possibilities for integrated payments are far broader than just buying the odd on-demand movie or smart TV app. Instead, they see a more complex and engaging advertising strategy evolving, where smart TV viewers can buy physical products without putting down their remote, or donate to charity campaigns with a single click.

In addition to the three markets where PayPal on smart TV has already been switched on, the service will arrive on 2013 LG models in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Australia starting this month. Broader availability will follow on after that.

LG Smart TVs Get PayPal Debut

LG Smart TVs Get PayPal DebutPayPal has been around a whole lot longer compared to smart TVs, but this does not mean that the old guard and the new cannot work together, as LG has demonstrated recently. In fact, LG Electronics is proud to be the first company in the world to offer the convenience of PayPal right on its Smart TV platform, where this capability will be made available on 2013 models of LG Smart TVs that are sold in the US, Canada and the United Kingdom. Apart from that, this particular PayPal feature will also make its way to LG Smart TVs that will be sold in France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Australia from this month onwards, and other markets are set to follow not too long after.

Another avenue for you to spend your money is definitely welcome, although those who find it difficult to rein in their monthly spending might see this as a curse. I suppose those advertisements shown will now come with the ability for you to make a purchase on the spot from your PayPal account without having to go through the usual phone calling method. When it comes to security, fret not, you are able to authenticate your identity and make the desired purchase by entering the right digits using a traditional remote or LG’s Magic Remote. AT&T to offer LG Optimus G Pro next month

LG‘s Optimus G smartphone was released last year for a variety of carriers, including AT&T, and enjoyed widespread success among consumers. Following it up, the phone maker created the Optimus G Pro, which we saw tipped in an FCC posting late last month. Now word has surfaced that this massive 5.5-inch phablet handset will be arriving at AT&T in May.

LG PRO

We saw LG’s giant Optimus G Pro handset earlier this year at the 2013 Mobile World Congress, and we got out hands on it back in February, giving it a quick review, which you can read here. Rumors concerning the handset have been swirling for awhile now, but we’re hearing that the smartphone will be finally hitting shelves via AT&T next month, replacing the current Optimus G offering.

Tips have been rolling in, and others are reporting the same thing as well, including the folks over at Android Central. The announcement could end up happening any time now, and according to the tips, the rollout date is said to be May 10, meaning there’s about a solid month of waiting left (assuming the rumors are true). Once available, this giant upgrade to an already popular handset could give HTC’s One quite a bit of competition.

The LG Optimus G Pro boasts a quad-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600-series processor, as well as 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space. The battery is huge, not surprising given the 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 full HD display, which will use more than its fair share of power. There’s a rear 13-megapixel camera, as well, and 4G LTE support. No word has surfaced about the handset hitting other carriers, but so far it seems like an AT&T release is penciled in.

LG Optimus G Pro update features detailed in a walkthrough video (update: arrives April 12th)

LG Optimus G Pro Value Pack update gets a video preview that details all the new features

While the biggest question concerning LG’s 5.5-inch Optimus G Pro — when will it ship in the US — remains officially TBA, the company has posted a video preview (embedded after the break) of the software update it’s sending Korean early adopters this month. There’s also no launch date for the “Value Pack” upgrade listed, but the video does give a clear demonstration of things like Smart Video that recognizes when the viewer looks away using eye tracking technology, Dual Camera using the front and back cameras at the same time for stills (it previously did this for video), and Pause & Resume recording that brings Vine-style seamless video cuts. Check out the video to experience it for yourself, we’ll see if LG’s phablet can beat the Galaxy S4 — and, presumably, the next Galaxy Note — to market in the US with these features.

Update: We’ve got the English press release now, which details all the new features mentioned above plus a few more that are getting upgraded, and reveals the update will start going out to users on April 12th. Check out the full text after the break.

LG adds PayPal to its smart TV platform for faster app purchases

LG adds PayPal to its smart TV platform for faster app purchases

Looking to jumpstart interest in its in-house ecosystem, LG is adding PayPal as a software purchasing option for its latest line of smart TVs, making it the first manufacturer to natively use the service. Available now in the US, Canada and UK, this new addition will let you use either a traditional or Magic remote to navigate an onscreen keyboard when buying apps, games or $50 worth of 3D Disney movie rentals. The real potential time saver here is the addition of an optional “remember me” feature which lets users store their PayPal account information for faster purchases. Look for the service to expand to Australia, France, Germany and Italy sometime this month, with other markets set to follow later.
