LG Jukeblox Hits The FCC, We Wonder What It Is

LG Jukeblox Hits The FCC, We Wonder What It IsWe know of the jukebox, never mind if it plays CDs or old school records, but just what the heck is a Jukeblox? Some might say that it is a futuristic version of the current jukebox, or perhaps the next evolution of this social institution at bars and other public places where folks congregate to unwind, while others might just think that this is a typo that surfaced over at the FCC. Yes sir, it seems that one particular LG Jukeblox has been spotted over at the FCC, where it has been described as a “networked media module”, and that particular description alone makes it one of a kind, even on the Internet.

The FCC’s report do point out some of the Jukeblox’s features, where it will come with an 802.11 b/g WiFi module, although it did not drop any more clues concerning its intended purpose or destination. Right now, the folks over at Engadget have made an educated guess that it will be a rival to the AllShare Cast. What do you think the LG Jukeblox is going to end up like when it finally hits the mass market, and how much do you think one would have to pony up for it?

LG Jukeblox hits the FCC, makes us wonder what a Jukeblox is

Image

Once in a while, a product meanders through the FCC that we’ve actually never heard of. Today we found a test report concerning LG’s Jukeblox, a “networked media module” that doesn’t seem to exist anywhere else on the internet. The report details that the unit has an 802.11 b/g WiFi module, but no hints as to its intended purpose or destination. At a guess, we’d posit that the device is destined to rival the AllShare Cast, but given that “Jukeblox” is also the name of SMSC’s digital audio technology, LG might have to deal with some trademark wrangling before this product sees the light of day.

If you’re all about the wireless charging, you’ll have to make sure you pick up the separate removable battery cover – that’ll cost you $40 USD. You’ll see not only LG’s custom user interface, but another showing of LG’s own Starter Mode – made perfect for those using a smartphone for the first time.

LG Lucid2 available at Verizon for free on April 4th, entry-level smartphone lovers rejoice

LG Lucid2 coming to Verizon April for $tkk,

The original LG Lucid came to Verizon just a little over a year ago as a midrange device, and today we got word that its sequel, the Lucid2 (VS870), is now ready to show up in similar capacity. Said to be Big Red’s version of the LG Optimus F5, the device is aimed at the first-time smartphone buyer and is available online for free (with a two-year commitment) beginning April 4th, while retail availability will be in the coming weeks. Among its boasted features are a Starter Mode with a simplified UI — much like what we’ve seen on Pantech phones recently — as well as a 5MP rear camera, 4.3-inch qHD IPS display, 2,460mAh battery, Android 4.1.2, unspecified 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. Wireless charging will also be available if you purchase a separate battery cover for $40. Hit the press release below for more specs and details.

Note: The press release gives two online availability dates (today and April 4th) but LG has confirmed to us that the former is simply a typo.

LG’s Bedding Vac Battles Bed Bugs on Their Home Turf

LG Optimus G Pro Sells Over 500k Units In South Korea

LG Optimus G Pro Sells Over 500k Units In South KoreaThe LG Optimus G Pro is not a smartphone that you are able to see commonly used in the US, simply because it has yet to be made available Stateside, being released just in their home country at this moment in time. Having said that, a relatively short run on the store shelves in South Korea has certainly proven to be a bountiful one, as LG has laid claim to a new sales record. It is said that the LG Optimus G Pro actually notched up a cool 10,000 orders at launch, which leads to the final figure of 500,000 units being sold in a matter of 40 days after launch.

I guess a lot of its success has to do with it following in the footsteps of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, where it will feature the new Qualcomm 600 quad-core processor, not to mention some promotions for the LG Optimus G Pro doing its bit to help shift sales figures to new heights. Would you be stoked to get the LG Optimus G Pro when it finally hits our shores? [Press Release]

LG Lucid 2 To Launch This April 4th On Verizon?

LG Lucid 2 To Launch This April 4th On Verizon? Some folks have said that they would not touch the original LG Lucid with a 10-foot pole, which goes to say a whole lot about what kind of smartphone it is. Well, the LG Lucid 2, as its name suggests, would be a sequel to that particular smartphone, where it is more or less a modified LG Optimus F5 that throws in its fair share of modifications and changes. It seems that the launch date of the LG Lucid 2 has been postponed, and true to the adage that it is better to be late than never, whispers have it that the LG Lucid 2 will be launching later this coming Thursday, April 4th, on Verizon Wireless.

There were a couple of allegedly leaked photos of the LG Lucid 2 that proved at least one major change made to the LG Optimus F5, which is its battery that will sport 2,460mAh of capacity instead of the original 2,150mAh cell. LG is touted to ship the LG Lucid 2 with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean right out of the box, so there is no need to wait for an updated version of the operating system.

LG Optimus G To Get Off At The Next EOL Stop?

LG Optimus G To Get Off At The Next EOL Stop? The LG Optimus G is one smartphone that had everything going for it when it was released, but somehow, in one strange way or another, did not manage to sell in large numbers. Taking things into stock four months after its release, a mere 1 million units were sold worldwide, and this has not stopped LG from working with mobile carriers to offer the LG Optimus G Pro, leaving the LG Optimus G behind, of course.

Of course, we do know that the pace of consumer electronics move at a breakneck speed these days, but only four months on the market before being persuaded to have it replaced by a sequel? That would surely mean the LG Optimus G is not a success by any means. I mean, the Samsung Galaxy S3 has been around for more than double that amount of time, and even with the Galaxy S4 announced and ready to arrive anytime soon, there is still a new color for the Galaxy S3 to be released, in amethyst, no less.

The leaked screenshot that you see above depicts an inventory spreadsheet for Sprint which shows off that the LG Optimus G is about to arrive at its EOL status (End Of Life).

Unannounced LG Device Comes Out Tops In GLBenchmark Tests

Unannounced LG Device Comes Out Tops In GLBenchmark TestsThere is the international many of mystery, so why not introduce an international phone of mystery? Right now, there are a few candidates lined up to take over that particular title, but just for this one day, let us bestow such an honor on this unannounced LG device which has managed to leave just about any other smartphone on the market right now choking on the dust left in its wake. This unknown LG device, when put through the paces on the popular GLBenchmark benchmark tests, managed to smoke the rest of the competition, and we cannot but help to wonder just what is the limit for its Snapdragon 800 chipset.

Of course, we have heard of Snapdragon 800 arriving in other smartphones before such as the Xiaomi Mi-3, and other hardware bits and pieces associated with this LG smartphone would include an Adreno 330 GPU, a Full HD resolution display, and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice. The thing is, what will it be called when it arrives, and what date would that be?
