LG G Flex ‘Confirmed’ For AT&T, T-Mobile And Sprint

LG G Flex Confirmed For AT&T, T Mobile And Sprint

There aren’t a lot of smartphones out there right now that have flexible displays, the trend hasn’t caught on yet. LG has already announced its contender, the “self-healing” G Flex, but it is yet to be released globally. It was initially believed that LG might only launch the smartphone in select markets in Asia and Europe, but the company did hint recently that it is working on plans for a global launch. Trusted Twitter leaker @evleaks “confirmed” through his usual medium that the LG G Flex will be making its way stateside, and that it will be offered by three major national carriers, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint.

No release dates or pricing information has been provided as yet. Verizon is missing from the list, and it is not known right now if the carrier will offer the device later than its rivals or if it won’t carry it at all. The G Flex packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor under the hood which is aided by 2GB of RAM. It has a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 3,500mAh battery. The defining feature has to be the curved 6 inch 720p AMOLED display. That’s not all, the smartphone also has “self-healing” powers, check out this video to see what they really are.

LG G Flex Global Launch Expected Soon

LG G Flex Global Launch Expected Soon

LG had already announced its much rumored G Flex flexible smartphone last month, but today it conducted a formal launch event in South Korea. There has been quite a lot of speculation about this device, particularly about whether or not LG plans on releasing it globally. Turns out, the company is working on that, and the G Flex just might be globally launched in the near future. At the event today, LG vice chairman Koo Bon-joon said that the company is having discussions with carriers around the world, and that the G Flex is expected to be available in the U.S., Japanese and European markets.

A global launch of the G Flex will certainly allow LG to lead the nascent flexible smartphone market. It would certainly cast a shadow of Samsung’s flexible offering, the Galaxy Round, which is believed to be a prototype of sorts that will be released in a limited quantity even in South Korea. Besides, the G Flex really does what its touted to do, as this video shows, it truly is a flexible smartphone. Its definitely a unique offering, one that’s likely to generate curiosity among prospective customers. Under the hood, the LG G Flex is powered by a 2.3GHz quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage and a 3,500mAh battery. It has a 6 inch 1,280×720 pixel resolution flexible display.

Watch LG’s G Flex Smartphone Bend an Alarming Amount

LG G Flex announced, brings another rounded display smartphone to the world

lg-g-flexThe world was introduced to a rounded display smartphone not too long ago with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Round, and hence, it is no surprise to read that there is yet another smartphone manufacturer who hails from South Korea to rival the Galaxy Round. This time around, it would be LG who would be up to the task, introducing the LG G Flex that ends up as yet another milestone for LG. This is their first smartphone that has been curved, and it will also incorporate proprietary innovations from other LG companies when it comes to both the display and the battery, making it a smartphone unlike any other that you might have seen in the past. Not only that, the LG G Flex is touted to arrive with a new user experience that will take advantage of the curved form factor.

The vertically curved design of the LG G Flex is said to reduce the distance between one’s mouth to the microphone (hmmm, this is starting to look familiar, as though it was inspired by Nokia’s “banana” phone back when Nokia was the 800 lbs gorilla in the world of phones) whenever you hold the handset against the ear, just like how traditional telephone handsets were designed. Thanks to the curvature arc which has been optimized for the average face, on paper, it delivers improved voice and sound quality. The curved form will be able to increase the sound level by 3dB compared to typical flat smartphones, while ensuring a more reassuring grip. I am quite sure it will also set off the habit of twirling your handset on a flat surface such as a table whenever you are in a meeting.

Not only that, the LG G Flex will also arrive with the Rear Key that first made its debut in the LG G2. There will no no buttons on any of the sides to make sure that you would not turn off the handset by accident, and you will also be able to use your index finger to adjust the volume level whenever holding a conversation without blinking an eye.

Other hardware specifications include a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, a 6” HD curved P-OLED display, a 13-megapixel shooter behind with a 2.1-megapixel front facing camera, 2GB RAM, 32GB of internal memory and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean in tow.

LG G Flex Launch Event Is On November 5th

LG G Flex Launch Event Is On November 5th

Earlier this week LG announced its much awaited smartphone with a curved display, called LG G Flex. Prior to the announcement, the device had been seen in a number of leaks. LG announced this smartphone a few days after Samsung came out with its very own curved device, the Galaxy Round. It appears that LG intends to launch its device with much fanfare, local reports coming in from Korean media claim that a launch event has been scheduled on November 5th and that invites have already been sent out.

LG is yet to reveal the release plans for G Flex, as per reports, the smartphone will first go on sale in the local market by mid-November. Hopefully, at the event, LG will detail in how many markets it intends to release the G Flex and for what price. Samsung’s Galaxy Round is rumored to be a prototype of sorts, it is believed that the Round will be released in extremely limited quantity even in South Korea, but Samsung hasn’t confirmed this as yet. The LG G Flex has a 6 inch 720p curved display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quadcore processor with 2GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage, 13MP rear camera, LTE-A, 3,500mAh battery and Android 4.2.2. It also has “self-healing powers,” basically a special film at the back that will be able to heal scratches within minutes.

LG G Flex’s Curved Display Spotted In Photos And Video

LG G Flex’s Curved Display Spotted In Photos And VideoSamsung might be first off the blocks with their Samsung Galaxy Round that sports a curved display, but this does not mean that they are the only ones in the market with such a device. Well, technically they are, but there are others out there who will have their turn under the spotlight – such as LG. Here we are with yet another photo of the LG G Flex, spotted with a curved display to boot.

Of course, LG did not confirm officially that this will be their first curved-screened smartphone with the name G Flex, but it ought to hit the market sometime later this November. Until the day that happens, this particular handset that will run on the Android Jelly Bean operating system, will remain almost surreal, and we will just have to make do with the handset having been showcased in Argentina on Telefe, which is a television network that is owned by Telefónica. Similar to the LG G2 in this particular aspect, the G Flex would feature buttons that are located on the rear case near the 13-megapixel camera, and chances are, it will also arrive with a fingerprint sensor to help it keep up with the times.

LG G Flex Renders Show Off Curved Display

LG G Flex Renders Show Off Curved DisplaySo, we did bring you news earlier this month that LG Display has started to mass produce the world’s first flexible OLED displays for smartphones and other kinds of compatible mobile devices. It does seem as though Samsung did beat them to the punch somewhat with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Round smartphone that comes with a curved display. Well, here we are with some renders of what could very well be the upcoming LG G Flex, and from what we can see, this rendered image happens to be curved in a different manner compared to the Samsung Galaxy Round.

I guess the mass production of flexible OLED displays by LG Display is going on a whole lot better than expected, and from what we can tell, the LG G Flex should arrive with a 6” flexible screen, and it sure as heck ought to arrive with a curved battery that was showcased by LG not too far back. What other kinds of options should we expect to see in the LG G Flex? Perhaps Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, LTE connectivity, a quad-core processor as well as a high end rear camera, which should keep it in line with other flagship devices. As usual, having the required amount of patience will pay off eventually when it comes to the final rendition of the LG G Flex.

LG ‘G Flex’ phone with flexible 6-inch display rumored for unveiling next month

Been wondering what LG was doing with that flexible display technology it showed off at SID? Apparently it was working on the G Flex, a 6-inch smartphone with a curved screen. The typically innominate “person familiar with the company’s launch plans” told CNET the device will be announced in November, providing the outlet with a low resolution sketch of a curved yet rigid smartphone design.

This meshes quite well with the prototype display we saw earlier this summer, which trumpeted the durability of its plastic construction (which it demoed by hitting the panel with a mallet) over its ability to bend. The prototype display is also said to be cheaper to manufacture and lighter than traditional screens, both of which bode well for the end user. Still, the word “curved” seems to have been chosen carefully — it’s probable that this device will mirror Samsung’s rumored smartphone and will be an artistically bent handset rather than a flexible one. The official announcement isn’t due until next month, but we’ve reached out to LG for a comment, just in case.
