LG G2 Mini Worldwide Launch Delivers Premium Experience To Mid-Range Devices

LG G2 Mini Worldwide Launch Delivers Premium Experience To Mid Range DevicesThe LG G2 mini was first revealed to the world at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, sometime at the tail end of February, where this particular device came with a decent design as well as premium UX features which can be found on its higher end sibling, which is the LG G2. Needless to say, the “mini” part of the LG G2 mini would signal all of the goodness of the then flagship device crammed into a smaller form factor.

LG G2 mini set to rock and roll

lg-g2-miniThey say that good things come in a pair, and many smartphone manufacturers in recent memory have rolled out a “mini” version of their flagship device, such as Samsung with their Samsung Galaxy S4 mini (although it remains to be seen whether the Galaxy S5 will feature a mini version) as well as the HTC One mini. Well, South Korean manufacturer, LG, wants in on the game as well, which is why they have introduced the LG G2 mini to the masses that might be small in stature, but big on performance.

The LG G2 mini will feature a 4.7” display at 960 x 540 resolution, where a 2,440mAh battery will keep things running, at least for the entire day. Underneath the hood, you will be able to find a quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8926 (LTE) / MSM8226 (3G) processor, accompanied by a quad-core 1.7GHz NVIDIA Tegra 4i (LATAM LTE version) chipset, where there is 8GB of internal memory, 1GB RAM, an SD memory card slot for expansion purposes among others.

As for its connectivity options, the LG G2 mini will support the Bluetooth 4.0 standard, where there will also be Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), A-GPS, and NFC (4G LTE version only) capability thrown into the mix. Depending on your taste, you can choose from Titan Black, Lunar White, Red, and Gold shades, although do take into consideration that the availability of the colors depend on the particular region.

It will run on the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, where the entire chassis would measure a pocket-friendly 129.6mm x 66mm x 9.8mm. Expect the LG G2 mini to roll out globally this month with the 3G Dual SIM model in CIS countries, where it will be followed not too long after by major markets in the Middle East, Latin America and Asia, where among them include Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and Europe.

LG G2 Mini Specs Allegedly Spotted

LG G2 Mini Specs Allegedly Spotted

It has almost become the norm for flagship Android devices to be followed by “mini” variants that are similar in design to their high-end siblings but lack in the performance department due to different and cost effective hardware. The LG G2 smartphone was released earlier this year and it received rave reviews. Over the past couple of weeks rumors have been floating around about a LG G2 mini that’s apparently slated for a CES 2014 release. While LG hasn’t said a word about this variant so far, purported LG G2 mini specifications have been spotted online.

Apparently the LG G2 mini’s specifications were spotted on a GFX benchmark site, which picked up an unknown LG device carrying model number LG-D410, it is believed to be the G2 mini. According to the website, the D-410 has a 1.2Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, a 540x960qHD display and it is likely to come with Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed. Additional specifications are not available at this point in time, but if the ones that have surfaced are true, then its quite obvious that the G2 mini is not going to be anywhere near the G2 in terms of performance. An announcement is expected at the Consumer Electronics Show 2014 in Las Vegas next month, so we’ll just have to wait until then.

    LG G2 Mini Rumored

LG G2 Mini RumoredHave you ever wondered as to why certain companies like to roll out a “mini” version of a perfectly fine and working handset? Perhaps it is because they have already done their bit to position the brand of the smartphone in such a way where it might cost even more money to actually start branding a new kind of device, so why not save that dough with some of the work already completed, use a similar looking chassis at a smaller physical form factor with lesser specs, and rely on the same name, except that there is the suffix “mini” behind it? The LG G2 too, might be on the receiving end of the mini treatment, where the display is tipped to be 4.7″ in size.

Come to think of it, 4.7″ is not mini by any means if you were to roll back the clock by a couple of years, heck, it is still bigger than what the iPhone 5s has. It remains to be seen just what kind of resolution will the 4.7″ display carry, although it is widely tipped to arrive with 2GB RAM and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU. Pundits speculate that it could be unveiled at CES which is all set to kick off in less than a month’s time.
