Alleged LG G3 Specs Revealed In User Agent Profile [Rumor]

Alleged LG G3 Specs Revealed In User Agent Profile [Rumor]With the LG G2 being something of a hit back in 2013, we can only imagine that LG would want a repeat show with the LG G3. Only rumors are available at the moment regarding the handset, although a recently leaked screenshot shows off LG’s new design language for the UI. Now thanks to a User Agent Profile sighting, additional details about the LG G3 have been revealed.

However we should note that in no way does the User Agent Profile mention the LG G3. Instead it refers to it by its model number which is the LS990. With the LG G2’s model number being the LS980, we can only assume that the LG G3, its successor, is the LS990. That being said we reckon our readers should take it with a grain of salt for now.

Now whether or not the LS990 is the LG G3, the specs do point to a pretty powerful and high-end device. For starters the screen resolution of the handset has been revealed to be 2560×1440, putting it at the same level as the Oppo Find 7 and the Vivo Xplay 3S. No mention of the screen size though, but with the LG G2 packing a 5.2-inch display, we can expect LG to at the very least maintain that size.

Additional details revealed 3GB of RAM and oddly enough, a Qualcomm chipset of the MSM8974AA variety, which is actually the Snapdragon 800. It’s an odd choice given that handsets these days are packing at the very least the Snapdragon 801. Perhaps it’s merely a placeholder so we’ll try not to get worried just yet. The camera of the handset has also been revealed to be of the 13MP and 2.1MP variety, and will come with 32GB of storage, and will run on Android 4.4 KitKat.

Like we said there’s no way to confirm if the LG LS990 is the LG G3 and if the specs are real at all, so take it with a grain of salt, but in the meantime what do you guys think?

LG Odin Processor Expected To Enter Mass Production ‘Soon’

LG Odin Processor Expected To Enter Mass Production Soon

For long it has been rumored that LG is working on its own system-on-a-chip a.k.a SoC based on ARM architectures. A few months back it even got a name, Odin. Its believed to feature a big.LITTLE configuration with four 2.2Ghz Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.7GHz Cortex A7. Apparently based on the 28nm manufacturing process, the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is reportedly going to handle production. Latest rumor suggests that the LG Odin process might be entering into the mass production stage “soon.”

Despite rumors that the homegrown SoC is expected to enter mass production in the near future, rumor has it that LG won’t be using it in its next flagship. Since most of its rivals have now come out with their flagships, all eyes are on LG to see what it comes up with in the G3. LG hasn’t confirmed which chips its going to opt for as far as its next flagship smartphone is concerned.

The delay in Odin’s mass production is attributed to LG facing issues with final design. It is now believed that the company will first test the waters with its new chip in low-end smartphones, and that it doesn’t want to take such a big risk with its 2014 flagship. LG Odin powered smartphones might show up in the market in the second half of this year.

    LG G3 Rumored For June

LG G3 Rumored For JuneEarlier this year and ahead of MWC 2014, LG announced their latest flagship handset, the LG G Pro 2 which is  the successor to last year’s LG G Pro. From what we can tell, based on LG’s timetable from 2013, is that the South Korean manufacturer tends to release flagship devices twice a year.

We saw the LG G Pro launched earlier in the year, which was then followed up by the LG G2. What this means is that later this year, we can look forward to the LG G3 as well, but when exactly? Well according to the latest rumors, it seems that we can look forward to the handset as soon as June 2014. (more…)

LG G3 Could Feature Eye And Fingerprint Recognition

LG G3 Could Feature Eye And Fingerprint RecognitionWith the LG G Pro 2 having been officially launched, we’re sure many are looking forward to LG’s next rumored handset, the LG G3. Unfortunately not much is known about the LG G3 at the moment apart from rumors and speculation, and now thanks to a report from the Korean media, it has been suggested that features such as eye and fingerprint recognition could be part of the LG G3. In terms of eye recognition, that particular rumor is a new one, but in the past we have heard rumors that the LG G3 could sport a fingerprint scanner, and this claim seems to reaffirm it.

It should be noted that this isn’t a rumor per se, but rather it came about when LG officials were asked as to whether eye and fingerprint recognition could be part of the LG G3, in which LG officials said that they are considering all sorts of possibilities which is neither a confirmation nor a denial, so this is something we will have to keep an eye on. The LG G3 trademark was recently filed so at the very least we know that the device is real. Oddly enough a rumor suggests that the handset could be launched on the 17th of May which seems a little too soon given that the LG G Pro 2 is only expected to make its way to US and European markets after April. Either way we’ll be on the lookout for more LG G3 news, so check back with us at a later date to see if there are additional details to be had!

    LG G3 Trademark Filed

LG G3 Trademark FiledThe LG G3 has been rumored about for a while now. The handset is expected to be the successor of the LG G2, LG’s flagship device for 2013, although given when the LG G2 was launched, we don’t expect to hear about the LG G3 anytime soon. That being said, is the LG G3 even being worked on as we speak? Is LG even planning the device? Logically yes, given the LG G2’s success, and if you wanted further proof that the LG G3 was in the works, a recent trademark filing for the G3 moniker has surfaced.

Of course considering that in the past we have seen our fair share of fake trademarks being filed, there is always the off-chance that this particular trademark could be a fake as well, so try not to get your hopes up just yet. What we do know is that as far as LG handsets are concerned, the company has the LG G Pro 2 which will most likely be announced soon ahead of MWC 2014. As to when LG might announce the LG G3? Well that remains to be seen, but presumably it will be done after the G Pro 2 has been launched to avoid cannibalization of sales. In the meantime what do you guys think? Is the LG G3 a done deal?

LG G3 Could Pose A Strong Challenge To The Samsung Galaxy S5

LG G3 Could Pose A Strong Challenge To The Samsung Galaxy S5We do know that Samsung have been preparing to hold a new Unpacked event at Mobile World Congress this coming February 24, and chances are pretty high that they will use that particular event to unveil the much talked about Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship. Of course, a flagship device does not automatically mean that it will do well in the market, as there are other factors to think of such as market sentiment in addition to products from rivals. Its South Korean rival, LG, has some tricks up their sleeves as well, and as good as the LG G2 (as seen above) is at the moment, you can bet your bottom dollar that the future successor to this handset, tipped to be known as the LG G3 as at press time, will come packed with even more technology underneath the hood.
