The Custom Saber Shop forum member Eastern57 made a lightsaber that would be at home in Patton Oswalt’s Star Wars universe. It’s a lightsaber decked in Shellhead’s winning crimson and gold colors. But Eastern57 didn’t stop with the paint job. He also incorporated another Iron Man trademark: the arc reactor.
In one of his YouTube videos, Eastern57 said that the lightsaber is based on a toy replica of Galen Marek aka Starkiller’s lightsaber. The arc reactor is mounted in an inner chamber that is revealed by twisting the hilt’s upper half.
The lightsaber also plays back sound bites from the Iron Man movies, as well as some of the songs from its soundtrack.
A lightsaber that plays AC/DC? This ain’t your daddy’s saber. Oh wait. It is your daddy’s lightsaber. Check out Eastern57′s thread on The Custom Saber Shop or his Photobucket gallery for more images of the lightsaber.

Thanks to the force of electricity, these Star Wars sunglasses will not only shield you from bright light, they can also help you see – or at least stand out – in the dark thanks to LEDs on the sides of the frames.
The sunglasses also have lightsaber handles printed on their arms. Like Darth Maul’s lightsaber, there are LEDs on both sides of the handles. But the sunglasses don’t just come in Sith red; they also have Jedi blue and Jedi green frames.
I wonder if these are officially licensed or just clones. You can order the sunglasses from Hot Topic for $16.50 (USD).

A couple of weeks ago we saw a crochet hook that looks like a lightsaber. This DIY project on the other hand gives you a knitting implement that looks like a lightsaber, except this time it also lights up. Not that you’d want to knit in the dark.
Instructables member Random_Canadian came up with the design. He used small LED flashlights as the base. He replaced the white LEDs in the flashlights with red and green, but you can pick whatever color you want. He then used acrylic rods as needles, because the rods focus and extend the light from the LEDs.

Scientists discovered Arctic plants that have come back to life after being frozen for 400 years, while ninth graders conducted a science experiment to show that plants don’t grow as well near wireless routers. We’ve seen plenty of nifty crocheted Star Wars items and I’m sure we will see more. But a real Jedi Master crafter uses a weapon like this awesome lightsaber crochet hook.
Imagine what you could create with this lightsaber. It’s an elegant crafting weapon for a more civilized age. These cool crafting implements are made by Cherelled and are just $15(USD).

The thing I love about the intersection of geekdom and art is that we end up with some really ingenious and non-traditional mediums for creativity. For example, what was once an innocent champagne cork has been transformed into the ultimate evil – Darth Vader.
DIYer SJ Roth took an ordinary cork and embellished it with markers, clay, fabric, foam rubber, and even a little LED lightsaber to create the cutest little Vader you’ll see today.
