Where To Watch The Live Stream For Today’s Apple iPad Event

apple-event

Apple looks to be readying a live stream of its event taking place at 10 AM PT today at the Yerba Buena center in California, according to updates that are being pushed to users’ Apple TV devices, as reported by Engadget, MacRumors and 9to5mac. Now, Apple has also pushed out an update to its site, allowing users to navigate there to stream to Safari, too. For visitors on the web, the event will go live at the Apple Events section of its homepage when it starts in just a few hours. So to recap, you’ll need the following to tune in:

  • Safari on the Mac or iOS
  • An Apple TV gen 2 or 3, with the Apple Events channel that arrives special and automatically when things like this go down.

Of course, you can also tune in to our live blog of the event right here on TechCrunch, with myself snapping photos and providing occasional commentary and Greg Kumparak on keyboard. It’s the better option if you’re stuck at work like most normal human beings, or if you’d rather get some entertaining color commentary with your Apple news, tune into us furiously typing away at near the speed of sound.

Livestream launches on Roku, brings real-time broadcasts to the platform

Livestream launches on Roku, brings realtime broadcasts to the platform

Livestream may have been stepping out of its comfort zone with the introduction of hardware tailored for prosumers. That being said, the company’s still working hard on expanding its bread and butter: video streaming — and what better way to do so than by being available on Roku, a streaming platform that’s thriving in more ways than one. Today, the Livestream channel will be making its debut on the tiny player, giving viewers access to a vast amount of internet-based programming. Of course, this includes live (and archived) sporting events, concerts, red carpets and broadcasts from more than 60 local US news stations. “For us, connected TVs was the next piece of the puzzle,” Livestream CEO Max Haot told us, adding that coming to the Roku is only the start of what he believes “will be many future developments on bringing Livestream to living rooms worldwide.”%Gallery-slideshow79380%

Confirmed: Apple Will Live Stream Today’s iPad Mini Event On Web Site, Apple TV

Screen Shot 2012-10-23 at 9.10.49 AM

It’s been a long while since Apple live streamed its press events. In fact, some people may not even remember a live-streamed Apple event, instead hunting out the best possible live blog until we can check out the whole video post-excitement.

But the company’s website now has a dedicated channel for the event, and promises that we can “Watch a live video stream of the special event online or via Apple TV starting at 10:00 a.m. PDT.”

Plus, some folks over at MacRumors have noticed a new “Apple Events” icon on the Apple TV, which leads us to believe that Apple may live stream today’s iPad mini event.

According to MacRumors, a click on that particular channel offers up a few other Apple press event videos, dating back to June 2011.

It’s unclear whether or not Apple will be live streaming the event on other channels, such as its website. Apple has historically stopped doing live streams of their events due to bandwidth issues. But since there are far fewer people with Apple TVs than people with Internet access, an Apple Events channel via Apple TV makes much more sense.

Not to mention, Apple will be broadcasting to the ideal audience.

YouTube to live stream this year's London Paralympics in the US and Canada

Now that the Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps show in London is well behind us, it’s time for this summer’s Paralympics to get started — in fact, they’ve been underway since this past Wednesday, August 29th. But in case you’ve been missing out on all the action due to shortage of viewing options, YouTube just announced it’ll be streaming over 500 hours of live competitions to folks in the US of A and Canada. The real-time streams are being brought to you via the ParalympicSportsTV channel, which will also offer more than 1000 hours of on-demand content, such as daily highlights, behind-the-scenes footage and athlete interviews. The only thing left to do now is grab some popcorn and hope your country of choice leads that glorious medal count — so far, it’s China with the celebrated number one spot.

US presidential campaign trail winds its way to Xbox Live on August 27th with Election 2012 Hub

US presidential campaign trail winds its way to Xbox Live on August 27th with Election 2012 Hub

Can’t get enough coverage of the US presidential race even with YouTube in the mix? Microsoft’s Election 2012 Hub for Xbox Live may be able to satisfy your inner political junkie. Redmond’s initiative will provide video of town hall events at both the Democratic and Republican national conventions, daily content from NBC and full coverage of results as ballots are cast and counted on November 6th. Throughout live streams of the debates, users will be able to rate the performances of public office hopefuls and see what marks other viewers give them in real-time. Information on voter registration, politicians and their take on issues will also be included. According to Microsoft, roughly 40 percent of Xbox-owning voters surveyed aren’t concretely committed to a candidate running for the Oval Office, placing them in the highly-prized swing voter category. The service won’t launch until the Grand Old Party’s powwow kicks off on August 27th, but we hear there’s plenty of relevant reading to keep you busy until then.
