NTT Docomo is releasing their new double-screened smart phone “MEDIAS W N-05E” manufactured by NEC CASIO Mobile Communications on April 18 in Japan.

We had the chance to actually touch this new cool smart phone at NTT Docomo’s 2013 spring line-up event in January and wrote about it then.

Docomo has unveiled a dual-screen smartphone, the Medias W. It features two 4.3″ displays, a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, an 8.1MP camera and runs Android 4.1. It will be released in April 2013.
“This is the MEDIAS W. Ordinarily, you use it folded up, like a regular smartphone. When you want to look at a picture or map, it can open up to become a 5.6 inch screen. So you can read maps or browse the Web easily, and it makes text entry easy, too.”

One of the highlights of Docomo’s roll-out of their 2013 “Spring Collection” was the Xperia Z Smartphone and Tablet pair. President and CEO, Kaoru Kato kicked off his product descriptions with these products and they were the centerpiece of the company’s product roll-out.

LTE. LTE. More LTE. That’s what’s currently roaming the minds of wireless carriers in the US of A, and while Verizon, AT&T and Sprint are at the forefront of it all, smaller networks are also looking to get a piece of the “real 4G” pie. The latest one to flip its own Long Term Evolution switch is Kentucky-based Bluegrass Cellular, which was accomplished in large part thanks to Verizon’s LTE in Rural America program and is a culmination of an agreement inked back in 2010. With the initial rollout phase, Bluegrass Cellular’s expected to cover more than 348,000 folks in cities such as Bowling Green, Glasgow, Radcliff, Bardstown and Elizabethtown, offering subscribers in these areas speeds of around 12Mbps down and 5Mbps up. Naturally, Bluegrass plans on bringing LTE to more of its covered markets, with the outfit noting that it “will continue to expand 4G LTE to additional areas in 2013.”

We can’t say we’re exactly surprised Sprint would be bringing its 4G LTE waves to one of the biggest markets on the West Coast, but there’s nothing like hearing it straight from the horse’s carrier’s mouth. Earlier today, Sprint announced its developing Long Term Evolution network will be hitting San Francisco (and some surrounding areas) in the “coming months.” That’s not it, however, as the Now Network also let it be known that it will be flipping the switch in more than 20 other new markets, including Fort Wayne, IN, Emporia, KS, Greenwood, MS, Joplin, MO as well as Napa and Petaluma in California. At this very moment, it’s unclear what Sprint’s definition of “in coming months” is, but at least folks living around these areas now have some reassurance that they, too, will be enjoying some faster speeds on one of those LTE-equipped devices.
