LG VS930 for Verizon leaks

Just a few days ago we heard rumblings that LG was planning another high-end smartphone that would feature a quad-core processor and 10-megapixel camera, and now it looks like the company is about to release another LTE handset on Verizon. Engadget has scored pictures and specs for the VS930. It looks quite similar to the LG Optimus LTE II, and the specs are certainly nothing to sneeze at.

The phone will reportedly come with a 4.7-inch screen with a 720p IPS display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor clocked at 1.5Ghz, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, NFC, and global radio support on top of Verizon’s LTE. The phone will also come with an 8-megapixel camera, and come in at 9.2mm thick.

A leaked service manual for the phone indicates that it will be running Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, have a 2,150mAh battery, and that it may possibly be released very shortly on July 13th. Feast your eyes on the service manual in the meantime, and we’ll bring you the official announcement if the handset does indeed drop on the 13th.

Wilson Electronics’ Sleek 4G-V Verizon flavored signal booster reports for service

Wilson Electronics' Sleek 4GV Verizon flavored signal booster reports for service

If you’re often finding that your super-duper 4G service is more LT-Eh?, than LTE, then you might have been curious about Wilson Electronics’ Sleek 4G-V cellphone signal booster. If you were, it’s time to stop waving your hand in the air looking for bars, and stick it in your pocket in search of some sheets, as it’s now available in stores. Of course, it’s Verizon customers who’ll benefit the most, with the Sleek 4G-V being designed with the big red’s 700MHz service in mind. That said good old 2- and 3G services are still given a leg up. The MSRP remains $129 for the standard “in-vehicle” model, with an optional accessory kit for indoor use (no price at this time). If this message kept dropping out, head over to the window past the break for the PR.

AT&T Atrix HD priced at $99: coming July 15 (video)

While we’ve already stared down the specifications, AT&T’s announced that it will bring Motorola’s big and skinny slab to the US later this month, while Bell will do the honors in Canada “this summer.” Priced at $99, the Atrix HD will tie together LTE connectivity with a 4.5-inch 720p display, available in both Modern White and Titanium colors. Better still, it’s all arriving later this week, on July 15. If you’re thinking about becoming an early adopter then you’ll want to move quickly, as a free Vehicle Dock will ship with each one for a “limited time”, designed to work perfectly with the included Smart Actions. Finally, this is the first phone to feature Motorola’s “circle widget” on the home screen, designed to take owners directly to their AT&T account info, displaying data usage, battery status and more. Check after the break for a quick video walkthrough from AT&T plus a press release with all of the specs and details.

Rogers details 28-city LTE upgrade for rest of 2012, RIM’s hometown included

Rogers details 28city LTE upgrade for rest of 2012, RIM's hometown included

Rogers’ LTE network is old enough to mark its first birthday. Unless you happened to live in one of the seven largest cities in Canada during that time, however, you’ve largely been left out — that status indicator on the Rogers version of the One X may as well have been a subtle form of mockery. To the delight of our friends up North, the carrier has detailed a much more aggressive LTE rollout for the rest of the year: a total of 28 more cities will get that sweet 4G nectar in the next few months. Most of these expansions will blanket the southern half of Ontario, but major cities in the Prairies, Quebec and the Maritimes will all get their fair share. Arguably, the most important upgrade is coming to RIM’s home base of Waterloo; when the company is virtually betting its future on likely LTE-ready BlackBerry 10 devices, having widescale LTE to test against is a slightly important prerequisite. The full city list is available after the break.

AT&T deploys 4G LTE to several new cities

Good news to AT&T subscribers, the giant wireless carrier announced today that it will deploy its 4G LTE network to six new cities – Buffalo, New York, Burlington, North Carolina, Corpus Christi, Texas, Gainesville, Florida, Greensboro and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Wichita, Kansas. Additionally, AT&T is also expanding its LTE coverage in Charlotte, North Carolina and Cleveland, Ohio. AT&T hopes that its newly-deployed 4G LTE service in the aforementioned areas will deliver faster speeds and faster response times.

Also, this means that AT&T customers can also take advantage of its LTE-compatible devices such as the HTC One X and the Samsung Galaxy S3. “We continue to see demand for mobile Internet skyrocket, and our new 4G LTE network responds to what customers want from their mobile experience – more access, faster speeds, and the best devices. Customers now have our fastest available speeds with 4G LTE, and customers across the area are enjoying fast speeds on the nation’s largest 4G network,” AT&T said.

Samsung Galaxy S III for Verizon Wireless review

Samsung Galaxy S III Verizon review

Your girlfriend might be three times a lady, but the Samsung Galaxy S III is four times a smartphone — at least when it comes to the US. Indeed, the manufacturer’s latest flagship device has managed to hit the cellular equivalent of a grand slam stateside, as each of the four national carriers are adding it to their respective smartphone lineups. For the first time since the original Galaxy S series made its debut two years ago, customers won’t have to bother switching carriers just for the privilege of using one of the best devices on the planet.

But there was a rather significant asterisk associated with the original Galaxy S’s reign on American soil: even though all four major networks offered it, none of the carrier-branded iterations used the same name or design as the original model that inspired them. Fast-forward two years to 2012, and it’s a completely different ballgame — the Galaxy S III on each mobile operator bears the same name and design. Hold an AT&T-branded model next to its T-Mobile counterpart, for instance, and you’ll have a rather difficult time telling the two apart. Same with Sprint and Verizon; aside from the logos on the back and a couple other tiny differences, you’re seeing the same exact phone across the board.

Not only has Verizon been waiting in the dugout for its time to step up to the plate, but an untold number of customers undoubtedly have been, too. Given its brand recognition and top-of-the-line features, the Galaxy S III has a shot at becoming the all-star in Big Red’s lineup. So how does Samsung’s new darling hold up on the country’s biggest network? Join us after the seventh inning stretch to find out.

AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note ICS update coming tomorrow, offers Premium Suite

AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note ICS update coming tomorrow, offers Premium Suite

How much better will that Samsung Galaxy Note be when you have Ice Cream Sandwich on it? AT&T users are about to find out, as Samsung confirmed to us that the long-awaited upgrade will be knocking on their doors beginning tomorrow (with a few lucky testers getting it later today). As for the new features, the Galaxy Note’s latest refresh won’t offer anything we weren’t already expecting: in addition to the standard suite of ICS features, it’ll also come with the same Premium Suite we saw show up on the international Note a couple months ago. The new Suite offers some huge improvements in S-Memo and S-Note, as the latter is now integrated with Wolphram Alpha. Sadly, the software features we’ve seen highlighted in the Galaxy S III series (S-Beam, S-Voice, Smart Stay and so on) are nowhere to be found, but at least you’ll have plenty of other new items to keep you occupied for a while.

AT&T pink Lumia 900 drops July 15

The Nokia Lumia 900 won’t be getting Windows Phone 8, but AT&T is hoping that a special, limited edition pink version will distract you from the OS version. Priced at the same $99.99 (with a new, two-year agreement) as the existing color options, the pink Lumia isn’t a slapdash paint-job but involves Nokia creating an all-new colored casing. That means, even if you scratch it, there’s still pink underneath.

Otherwise, this is the same phone we know and – with a few reservations – love. Up front is a 4.3-inch WVGA display, with a 1.4GHz single-core processor inside and an 8-megapixel cameron the back with 720p HD video recording. It’ll also come loaded with a number of exclusive apps, including Nokia Music and Nokia Drive, and the new camera functionality released as part of the Camera Extras pack.

Later this year, meanwhile, Microsoft will release Windows Phone 7.8 for the Lumia 900, bringing the refreshed Metro homescreen and some other aesthetic tweaks to the handset. What it won’t get is the true WP8 upgrade, like all other current-gen Windows Phones.

The pink (aka magenta) AT&T Nokia Lumia 900 will go on sale in the carrier’s stores from July 15. It’ll also be sold online.
