Star Wars Films Releasing Every Year Starting In 2015

All may not be right in the galaxy now that Disney has pulled the plug on LucasArts, at least they’re currently working on a new Star Wars film which all of the original actors seem to be a part of. The last Star Wars film to be released was Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, which was released back in 2005, but it looks as though Disney is planning to release additional Star Wars films on a more regular basis.

Walt Disney Co.’s chairman Alan Horn  announced the news during CinemaCon they would begin to roll out Star Wars films starting in 2015 with main series films expected every other year, while in-between those main films we’ll see character-focused films. In other words, we can expect Star Wars: Episode 7 to be release in 2015, then a character-focused film in 2016, Episode 8 in 2017, and so on. (more…)

Star Wars 1313 Production Has Been ‘Halted’

Star Wars 1313 Production Has Been Halted

Disney’s announcement yesterday of it pulling the plug on LucasArts sent shockwaves throughout the video game industry as their game development studio seemed like it was just about to take off with its upcoming release of Star Wars 1313, whose future was uncertain during yesterday’s announcement. It looks as though the news isn’t looking good for the game as a LucasFilm representative confirmed the production for Star Wars 1313 has been halted.

LucasFilm spokesperson Miles Perkins spoke to the BBC saying, “Both current Star Wars games projects have been halted.” That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s officially being canceled as a LucasArts rep spoke with Game Informer yesterday saying, “There’s always a possibility that it [Star Wars 1313] can still come out via licensing.” Considering how much work was already put into the game by LucasArts, we’re not sure if licensing the game out to external partners would be in the game’s best interest. Either way, we think you should probably plan for the worst in regards to Star Wars 1313 as it’s future certainly isn’t looking to be a bright one.

Star Wars Episode 7 Conceptual Poster Features Luke, Leia, Han Solo

There’s been a lot of talk lately about Star Wars: Episode 7 now that we know all of the original Star Wars actors were accidentally confirmed by George Lucas himself. With that bit of news, Star Wars fans have immediately become extremely excited about the next film and just what kind of role each of the previous film’s stars will have in the new film.

Illustrator Adam Schickling created a conceptual Star Wars: Episode 7 movie poster that not only has Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford prominently displayed, with wrinkles and all, but also Lando Calrissian himself Billy Dee Williams. Schickling also threw Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2 in there for good measure. (more…)

Original Star Wars Actors Accidentally Confirmed For Episode 7 By Lucas

We’ve heard Carrie Fisher is returning to play Princess Leia in Star War: Episode 7 with Harrison Ford possibly coming back as Han Solo as well, but it looks as though the man himself, George Lucas, may have confirmed the big three stars of Star Wars Episode IV – VI in a recent interview.

Lucas spoke to Bloomberg Businessweek and was asked if he informed Ford, Fisher and Mark Hamill of LucasFilm’s upcoming deal with Disney. “We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison—or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation,” said Lucas. “So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.’ ” (more…)
