Nokia Lumia 1520 Beats Out The Competition In Blind Camera Comparison

Nokia Lumia 1520 Beats Out The Competition In Blind Camera ComparisonPerhaps back in the day when cameras on smartphones took pretty low quality images, people didn’t really care about the megapixels or the camera technology as much as they do today. Nowadays people are slightly more fussy when it comes to image quality on their phones and features like the ability to capture photos in low-lighting conditions, image stabilization, and so on are important.

Of course sometimes there is some bias going on. Some people genuinely believe their phone is the best for taking photos because they love the brand, so in order to find out which phone truly takes the best photos from an unbiased point of view, the folks at PhoneArena have conducted a blind test with a variety of photos, asking people to vote on which looks best. Xperia Z2 Vs iPhone 5s & Lumia 1520 In Low-Light Photography Shootout

At MWC 2014 this week, Sony unveiled their latest flagship handset, the Xperia Z2. One of the highlights of the Xperia Z2 would be its camera in which Sony has packed a 20.7MP Exmor RS sensor with Sony’s G-lens. Together with Steady Shot, 4K video recording, and a low-light mode, it certainly sounds the Xperia Z2’s camera packs quite a punch.

Now the question is with all that new fangled technology under the hood, how does it compare to some of the best shooters out there as far as smartphones are concerned? With that being said, Vietnamese website, Tinhte.vn has uploaded a YouTube video in which the low-light photography of the Xperia Z2, the iPhone 5s, and the Nokia Lumia 1520 are all compared against one another. Lumia 1520 With WP8.1 Could Be Relaunched By AT&T

Lumia 1520 With WP8.1 Could Be Relaunched By AT&TThe Nokia Lumia 1520 was launched last year on AT&T’s network. The handset was the biggest phone we’ve ever seen from Nokia making it something of a novelty. However it seems that the handset could be due for a relaunch, according to the ever reliable @evleaks who posted on his Twitter account saying, “Nokia Lumia 1520 will add a green option when it relaunches on AT&T with Windows Phone 8.1.” (more…)

Nokia Lumia 1520 Mini/1520 V Rumored To Be In The Works

Nokia Lumia 1520 Mini/1520 V Rumored To Be In The WorksNokia is not necessarily a company that deals with “mini” versions of their phones. Those mini variants are usually best left to Samsung and Sony who have released such devices in the past, but it seems that Nokia could be working on a mini version of one of its phones, at least that’s according to the rumors. According to reports out of China, it seems that Nokia is rumored to be working on a Lumia 1520 mini, or Lumia 1520 V which is its alleged moniker. It will be based on the Lumia 1520 but will sport different specs, which in all honesty sounds a bit like the rumored Nokia Lumia 929 a.k.a Lumia Icon for Verizon.

So what sort of specs are we looking at? Well for starters it is rumored to sport a 4.3” display but interestingly enough, Nokia will be maintaining the Full HD 1920×1080 display, meaning that in terms of sharpness, the Lumia 1520 V will be a force to be reckoned with. It is also rumored to feature 2GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, and come with a 14MP PureView camera, and a 3,000mAh battery to top it off. Based on these specs it does sound a bit like the Lumia Icon for Verizon, just with a much smaller display. The Lumia 1520 V is rumored for a launch after Windows Phone 8.1 is released in April. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think?

    32GB Lumia 1520 Appears On AT&T’s Website

32GB Lumia 1520 Appears On AT&Ts WebsiteSo the other day we reported that the 32GB version of the Nokia Lumia 1520 would be made available on AT&T’s network on the 10th of January, and sure enough it has. If you thought maybe a default storage of 16GB was too little for your tastes, you can now head on over to AT&T’s website where you will be able to order the handset, which at the moment is priced at $249.99 on a new two-year contract. This is compared to the 16GB version of the Lumia 1520 which at the moment is still priced at $199.99 on contract.

It should be noted that the Lumia 1520 does come with expandable memory but we guess there are those who store a lot of movies and music on their phones and find that the default storage and microSD might not be enough. Users will be able to expand via microSD for an additional 64GB, meaning that if you were to get your hands on the 32GB version of the Lumia 1520, you should have a maximum storage of 96GB! That’s a lot of movies and music you will be able to keep on your device. Interestingly enough AT&T’s website lists the device as unavailable at the moment and might require the customer to go into a store to purchase.

This seems to contradict earlier rumors that suggested the phone will be only available online. Perhaps AT&T has yet to make it available, but the listing suggests that you should be able to purchase very soon.

32GB Lumia 1520 Rumored To Arrive On AT&T January 10

32GB Lumia 1520 Rumored To Arrive On AT&T January 10The Nokia Lumia 1520 is currently available via carriers and retailers but unfortunately it is only available in a 16GB version at the moment, although users do have the option of expanding its memory through a microSD card. However we guess there are those who might prefer using onboard memory instead and are finding 16GB not enough for their usage. Well the good news is that according to Windows Phone Central’s sources, it has been rumored that AT&T could be opening up orders for a 32GB version of the Lumia 1520 come 10th of January. However it seems that this offering will be only available online, meaning that you will need to purchase it from AT&T’s website as opposed to walking into their stores.

It has been rumored for a while that a 32GB version of the handset would be arriving soon, so we guess the 10th of January date isn’t completely out of the question. It is unclear how much more will Nokia/AT&T be asking for the 32GB version, but we’ll definitely keep our eyes peeled for more information. The 32GB model could also be of interest to those who store a lot of photos, videos, and music on their phones, especially since with up to 64GB of microSD card support, one could potentially have 96GB worth of storage on their device, but do check back with us on the 10th of January for the details!

Nokia Lumia 1520 Vs. iPhone 5s Browser Performance

Choosing a smartphone platform requires some careful decisions on the buyer’s part. After all no one likes wasting money on a platform they cannot truly enjoy, right? So what does one take into consideration when choosing a platform? Price, app availability, design, hardware, performance, and so on, and for those who surf heavily on their phone, having a fast and smooth browser is key, wouldn’t you say? Well it turns out that the Nokia Lumia 1520 could be the phone you are looking for, if browsing if your priority.

Thanks to a video that was uploaded not too long ago onto YouTube by TechCloud, it features the Lumia 1520 pitted against the iPhone 5s in what looks to be a browser performance and experience test. Both devices are either company’s flagship phones and both do feature some pretty good hardware, but as the video so tellingly reveals, it would seem as though the Lumia 1520 is better in terms of browsing when compared to the iPhone 5s. As you can see in the video above, the Lumia 1520 is faster when it comes to loading webpages, and does so almost immediately upon clicking, while Apple’s Safari browser took a second or two longer.

The experience when browsing websites also shows that the Lumia 1520 scrolled a little bit smoother compared to the iPhone 5s. While this does not look good for the iPhone 5s, the browsing experience has never really been a negative point in reviews and is pretty decent overall, but like we said when put next to the Lumia 1520, it is pretty telling. What do you guys think? Will the browser experience make you want to switch phones?
