Nokia Lumia 822 for Verizon possibly caught stopping by the FCC

Nokia Lumia 822 for Verizon makes a probable stop at the FCC

Just in case you thought Nokia’s Lumia 822 for Verizon was an illusion, the FCC has given us good (if not quite smoking gun) evidence that it’s tangible. A filing at the agency shows a device that’s only listed as the RM-845 on the surface, but has Verizon’s CDMA and LTE bands, measurements very close to those of the GSM-based Lumia 820 and a microSD slot that you wouldn’t find in a Lumia 920 variant — short of a surprise new model, there’s little beyond the 822 that would currently fit the bill. Those disappointed that it’s not a higher-end Lumia might take some consolation in seeing both the expected NFC as well as quad-band HSPA 3G for world roaming. Between the FCC and earlier photos, fans are really just left waiting for Verizon to make this new piece of its Windows Phone revival official, whether it’s on October 29th or some other date.

Nokia’s Not-So-Shy Lumia 822 Caught On Camera Clad In Verizon Branding

822-3

AT&T and T-Mobile have already pulled back the curtains (well, mostly) on their stock of Nokia Lumia Windows Phones, but rival carrier Verizon has remained awfully quiet on the matter. That may soon change though, as a pair of newly leaked images point to the existence of a Lumia 820 variant meant for Verizon’s airwaves.

As you’d expect, the device — which WMPowerUser’s tipster refers to as the Lumia 822 — reportedly packs the same WVGA display and 8-megapixel rear camera that its cousin the 820 does, and there’s a strong chance that internals remain similarly unchanged. That tell-tale stamp on the 822’s butt means the device is also meant to play nice with Verizon’s 4G LTE network as well, though that’s really not much of a surprise.

Nokia has clearly taken some liberties with regard to industrial design here, as the 822 appears to be a much rounder affair and the other 800 series Windows Phones the Finnish company has signed off on. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem quite as thick as the downright brick-like Lumia 810 that T-Mobile recently laid claim to. It’s also worth noting that the model number attached to the device seems like a peculiar choice for a Lumia, but it’s not like Nokia doesn’t throw the occasional numerical curveball.

Perhaps naturally, this is isn’t the first time Verizon’s Lumia has been spotted. This whole sordid turn of events began earlier this week, when the notorious leaker(s) behind the @evleaks Twitter account distributed a render of the Verizon-bound Windows Phone (codenamed “Atlas”) for all to see, and it just so happens these new leaked photos match up quite nicely. Of course, a render can only tell you so much. Hell, even with these new images to consider, a number of the Lumia 822’s particulars still can’t be discern with any real degree of certainty. For now we’ll just have to wait until Verizon comes clean on this little guy’s existence — or for some new leaks to blow everything wide open.

We caught a glimpse of a Verizon-branded Windows Phone 8 handset by the name of Atlas in a leaked image yesterday, and now new photos give us a closer look at the smartphone. According to WMPoweruser, who received the photos from a tipster, the device is a Nokia Lumia 820 variant and will be exclusive to Big Red as the Lumia 822. Though it’s riffed on its progenitor’s design, the mobile will keep the same WVGA resolution and 8-megapixel rear-facing camera. There’s still no official word from Verizon or Nokia regarding the phone, but we expect that to change relatively soon.

Nokia Lumia 822 “Atlas” for Verizon gets pictured

So we know that the Nokia Lumia 810 will be headed T-Mobile’s way which is basically the carrier’s variant of the Lumia 820, but will they be the only carrier to feature the phone? Well thanks to @evleaks, it looks like Verizon’s version of the Lumia 820 has been revealed. Pictured above is the Nokia “Atlas”, which according to previously leaked information suggests that this could be the Lumia 822 for Verizon. This obviously does not look anything like the Lumia 820, nor T-Mobile’s 810 but we guess that’s to be expected. No word on the specs of the Nokia “Atlas”, but if this is the Lumia 820, we expect that it will feature the same 4.3” ClearBlack display, an 8MP Carl Zeiss camera alongside a 1,800mAh battery. The announcement for the Nokia “Atlas”/Lumia 822 for Verizon is expected to be made in the next few days, so if you’re a Verizon subscriber and wouldn’t mind getting your hands on the device, check back with us later for more updates.

Nokia Lumia 822 and 5inch HTC device found in Verizon systems

The Nokia Lumia 820 is fresh on everyone’s minds, and rumors of a 5-inch Android device from HTC are floating around, so why not add a couple more pieces of kindling to the fire? We’ve been handed images of Verizon’s device management system (DMD, for short) showing off a couple new devices: the Nokia Lumia 822 (in Gray and White) and the HTC 6435, which we’ve seen leaked as the potential Galaxy Note competitor. While this doesn’t guarantee a surefire launch in any way, phones typically pop up in the DMD a few weeks prior to launch — and it’s good news for two groups of people: Windows Phone fans anxiously awaiting something fresh on the LTE carrier, and phablet fans looking for a device not called the Intuition.
