Nokia Uploads Another Lumia 928 Photo

Nokia Uploads Another Lumia 928 PhotoThe Nokia Lumia 928 has been “officially” revealed over the past couple of days, although to be fair Nokia has yet to officially name the device, simply referring to it as the Nokia Lumia in videos and photos. In any case the Finnish company has since uploaded a new photo of a phone which presumably is that of the Lumia 928 in all of its official glory. This shot of the phone reveals the Xenon flash that will accompany the device’s camera, which based on the back of the phone, will sport a Carl Zeiss lens which might please some photographers.

The Lumia 928 is expected to be a Verizon exclusive, although rumors have suggested a Lumia 925 which is said to be announced at the same time, which is basically the international variant of the Lumia 928, although we’re not sure at this point if there will be any hardware differences or if the only difference is in its name. Either way the Lumia 928 is expected to be revealed on the 14th of May which is next Tuesday, so check back with us then for all the details!

Verizon CEO ‘Hints’ At BlackBerry Q10 And Lumia 928 Release

Verizon CEO Hints At BlackBerry Q10 And Lumia 928 Release

During an investor conference earlier today, Verizon CEO Dan Mead said that there’s an important opportunity in their industry for both BlackBerry and Windows Phone. Both of these ailing platforms are widely considered as natural contenders for the third spot in the market that is largely dominated by Apple and Samsung. Windows Phone has struggled quite a lot in the start, whereas it has only been four months since BlackBerry 10 was launched. Dan also said that three or four operating systems are good for the industry and “good for us.”

These remarks come at a time with it has nearly been confirmed that Verizon will be announcing Nokia Lumia 928 soon, which will be exclusive to this network. Its also a time when analysts believe BlackBerry Q10 will outsell the Z10, having only been released late last month, the QWERTY BlackBerry 10 smartphone has been doing quite well in the market. Regarding the smartphone, Dan said “We’re hopeful it will meet the needs for our customers who have been loyal BlackBerry customers.” While the carrier has officially not announced carrying either smartphone, this could be taken as a hint, given how there’s substantial evidence for the Lumia 928 and the fact that Verizon already carries the BlackBerry Z10.

Nokia Shows Off The Lumia 928′s Video And Low-Light Capabilities In New Video

It was just yesterday that Nokia all but confirmed the Nokia Lumia 928 in a magazine ad, and while their website still has yet to officially announce the device (they are currently referring to it as the Nokia Lumia), they have uploaded a video in which the Lumia 928 was taken on a roller coaster ride while shooting both photos and videos, showing off the phone’s low-light capabilities and Nokia’s built-in stabilization.  The phone was compared against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5, although to be honest we would have preferred a comparison between the Galaxy S4 instead.

In any case the video does not actually reveal the name of the device, but we guess it can be safely assumed that this is the Lumia 928 in action. If you were thinking of getting your hands on the device, you can check out the video above to see if the phone’s video and photo capturing abilities is to your liking.

Nokia Lumia 928 Confirmed In Magazine Ad

Nokia Lumia 928 Confirmed In Magazine AdJust the other day we reported that a billboard ad for the Nokia Lumia 928 was spotted ahead of the announcement which is set on the 14th of May. It seems that Nokia needs to inform their marketing and PR guys that the phone has yet to be officially announced as it would seem that another Lumia 928 ad was spotted in a magazine ahead of its announcement, but we guess based on all the previous leaks and rumors, the cat is pretty much out of the bag already.

The ad was spotted in an issue of Vanity Fair and according to the ad, it pretty much confirms the PureView camera (Lumia 920 PureView, not 808 PureView), a Carl Zeiss lens and Nokia’s built-in image stabilization. The ad included a link to Nokia’s website where the digital copy of the ad can be found, but unlike the printed version, the online one does not out the Lumia 928 moniker. So, who’s excited for the Nokia Lumia 928?

Nokia Lumia 925 Rumored For 14th May Announcement, Possible International Lumia 928 Variant

Nokia Lumia 925 Rumored For 14th May Announcement, Possible International Lumia 928 VariantSo come 14th of May, Nokia is expected to announce something new in London. Many are assuming that this will be the Nokia Lumia 928’s announcement, also known by its codename, Catwalk. However at the same time, it has been reported that the Lumia 928 might not be the only device that could be announced and that a certain Lumia 925 could be unveiled as well. What is the Lumia 925, you ask? Well if the reports are to be believed, this is the international version of the Lumia 928 which according to leaks and rumors, is an exclusive for Verizon.

The specs of the Lumia 925 are expected to be the same as the Lumia 928, with a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset, a 4.5” 720p HD display, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a camera that supposedly will perform excellently in low-light conditions, and of course it will run on Windows Phone as well. In any case we guess you should take this with a grain of salt for now, but with the 14th of May only a week away, we guess we won’t have to wait too long to find out!

Nokia Lumia 928 Billboard Apparently Leaks Well Before Launch

Nokia Lumia 928 Billboard Apparently Leaks Well Before Launch

Nokia Lumia 928, which is going to be a smartphone exclusive to Verizon Wireless, has been talked about quite a lot over the past couple of weeks. It is expected to have marginal improvements over the Lumia 920. The 928 is expected to be marginally thinner and lighter than its predecessor. A billboard for this particular smartphone was spotted recently, though the authenticity of the advertisement can not be immediately confirmed. Nokia purportedly says in this ad that Nokia Lumia 928 has the best low-light smartphone camera. Well, see shall see about that once it releases, won’t we?!

Nokia is holding an event on the 14th of May, there it might announce this smartphone. A couple of days back the Lumia 928 was reportedly spotted at Nokia’s private concert, where all of the attendees were given Lumia 920s for one night so that they could shoot and record and see for themselves the camera technology in Nokia’s current flagship smartphones. The device in this billboard is remarkably similar to the one we see in Lumia 928′s leaked images. What do you think, why would a billboard go up before the official announcement itself? [Image via MyNokiaBlog]

Nokia Lumia 928 Devices Spotted At Private Nokia Concert

Nokia Lumia 928 Devices Spotted At Private Nokia ConcertWe’ve been hearing about the Nokia Lumia 928 for quite a while now, and with Nokia holding an event on the 14th of May, it leaves little to the imagination as to what the Finnish company could be unveiling. In the meantime for those looking for more Lumia 928 news tidbits to chomp on, Mark Guim at The Nokia Blog might have spotted the phone being used during a private Nokia concert which was held a couple of nights ago. The concert featured performances by Ed Sheeran and attendees were given Lumia 920 handsets for the night to record and shoot both photos and videos.

However what Guim noticed was that there were several devices covered in black cases being carried on tripods and monopods (pictured above), and as you can see, it is very obvious that this is a smartphone. Thanks to the placement of the Xenon flash, it was determined that the devices in these black cases were none other than the Lumia 928, with Guim speculating that Nokia is using the phone to record videos in which it will use during its launch, presumably to show off the phone’s camera technology. In any case if you’d like to learn more about the Lumia 928, be sure to check back with us on the 14th of May for the details.

Instagram And Temple Run 2 Rumored To Be Announced Alongside Nokia Lumia 928

Instagram And Temple Run 2 Rumored To Be Announced Alongside Nokia Lumia 928We’ve heard rumors that Instagram, Temple Run 2 and other apps could be making its way onto Windows Phone, but when exactly will that be happening? Well according to the folks at WMPoweruser, they claim that through one of their sources at Microsoft, they have learnt that those long-awaited apps will finally be announced and launched once Nokia and Verizon officially announce the Nokia Lumia 928. The Lumia 928 is rumored to be an exclusive phone designed for Verizon and could come with an aluminum body, a first for Nokia’s Windows Phone lineup which will hopefully appeal to those who feel that polycarbonate is too “cheap”. Considering that the previous rumors have pegged the launch of these apps in May, and with the Lumia 928 also rumored for a May announcement, it certainly coincides with each other. However until we actually see or hear it for ourselves, we suggest you take it with a grain of salt for now.

Verizon To Offer Nokia Lumia 928 From Next Month, Reports Bloomberg

nokia-lumia-928

Nokia looks like it’s hoping to turn up the volume of its Windows Phone-based Lumia smartphones in the U.S. by signing another carrier to its cause. Bloomberg is reporting that Nokia and Verizon have struck a deal that will see the carrier offer a forthcoming flagship, the Lumia 928, starting from next month. Neither the deal nor the device have been made public by Nokia or Verizon but Bloomberg said two people familiar with the situation have confirmed the impending launch.

Bloomberg’s report follows previous leaks in which the Lumia 928 was spotted in the FCC’s and Verizon’s systems. An apparent image of the handset was also leaked earlier this month. When approached for comment a Nokia spokesman told TechCrunch it does not comment on rumour and speculation.

If the Verizon deal is true, the Lumia 928 will be the first high end Lumia the carrier has ranged (it does already carry the mid-range Nokia Lumia 822). In the U.S. Lumia devices such as the flagship Lumia 920 have been exclusively carried by AT&T to date. Getting another major carrier — Verizon has some 100 million subscribers – on board with a flagship is vital for the once Mighty Finn to try to capture more cachet, as well as marketshare.

According to Bloomberg’s sources, the Lumia device that will launch on Verizon will have a metal body, a 4.5-inch touch screen, an 8-megapixel camera and wireless charging. Earlier rumours have suggested it will have a polycarbonate body, however, while the internals have generally been expected to remain the same as the Lumia 920.

North America has traditionally been a weak market for Nokia — historically, back in the Symbian days, but also since Nokia’s Windows Phone reboot. But in its Q1 results last week, the region was the only market in which Nokia saw a small increase in sales (up by 9%) compared to last year. Nokia reported selling a total of 5.6 million Lumias globally in the quarter.

Kantar stats we covered earlier this month indicate that Windows Phone as a whole — so not just Nokia devices but also HTC, Samsung etc — has moved up into a distant third place in the US smartphone market, behind the two leaders: Android and iOS, suggesting the platform is slowly building some regional momentum. That momentum may have helped convinced Verizon to take a punt on a Lumia flagship.
