Nokia Lumia Icon Dummy Model Spotted At Fry’s

lumia-icon-dummyAh, the Nokia Lumia Icon – this particular smartphone sure has generated a fair amount of interest over the past few weeks, and as we see more and more leaks arriving, you can only say one thing about the handset – that it is well on its way to a rollout in the near future. The Nokia Lumia Icon is also known by another name, the Nokia Lumia 929, and as mentioned earlier, has had its fair share of leaks in the past. Apparently, a dummy unit of the Nokia Lumia Icon has already made its way to a Fry’s store over in San Marcos, California. To make matters more confusing to the uninitiated, the Nokia Lumia Icon there was listed as the Lumia 928 rather than the Lumia 929.

Nokia Lumia Icon User Guide Image Leaked

lumia-icon-manualWe more or less know that the Nokia Lumia 929, also known as the Lumia Icon from the Finnish smartphone manufacturer, is well on its way to Verizon Wireless. The thing is, the mobile carrier has not been doing too great a job at keeping the Lumia Icon under tabs, as a manual for the smartphone has already been leaked, in addition to the potential launch information as well as what looks like an official image of it. @evleaks has revealed an image from a user guide, with this being the latest leak of the Nokia Lumia Icon.

Nokia Lumia Icon Makes An Appearance On Verizon’s Website (Again)

Nokia Lumia Icon Makes An Appearance On Verizons Website (Again)Verizon and Nokia are expected to announce the Nokia Lumia Icon a.k.a Lumia 929 soon. The handset has made countless appearances in leaked photos, appeared on Verizon’s website, appeared and sold in China, but yet we still do not have an official announcement or release date yet. We really have no clue what’s going on over at Verizon, but the handset has once again made an appearance on Verizon’s website and appears to cost $777 on and off-contract, which is odd because $777 with a new two-year contract should be much cheaper, so if we had to guess, it looks like the website went live a little earlier than expected. It also looks like customers will be able to order the handset in either a black or white finish. (more…)

Verizon’s Lumia Icon Goes On Sale In China

Verizons Lumia Icon Goes On Sale In ChinaThe Nokia Lumia 929 a.k.a Lumia Icon is very real. We’ve seen the device pop up on Verizon’s website and last we heard, it was rumored for a 16th of January release, but safe to say that did not happen. We’re not sure why Verizon is waiting around to announce the handset, let alone release it. Could it be that they are waiting to make an announcement at MWC 2014? Well whatever the case is, it seems that the Lumia Icon has managed to traverse the seas/skies and make its way into China where it is being sold, and interestingly and bizarrely enough, it looks like the model sold in China is actually Verizon’s model and boots up with Verizon’s logo (pictured above).

This seems to suggest that Verizon might have stock of the Lumia Icon but might be simply sitting on it for whatever reasons. The listing in China has given it a price tag of $630, which we’re not sure if it could be reflective of Verizon’s own pricing. For those hearing about the Lumia Icon for the first time, it is basically a smaller version of the Lumia 1520. Instead of sporting a large 6” display, the Lumia Icon is said to sport a smaller and more manageable 5” display, and for the most part will retain the same hardware specs as the Lumia 1520. In any case we’ll definitely keep our eyes peeled for more information regarding the Lumia Icon’s availability, so check back with us at a later date for the details.

Nokia Lumia Icon Spotted In Verizon Site

Nokia Lumia Icon Spotted In Verizon SiteIt has been quite some time since Verizon Wireless unveiled a brand new Nokia Lumia smartphone. Well, all of that patient waiting seems to have paid off, as the next handset from Nokia which will make an appearance on Verizon would be the Nokia Lumia Icon, whereby a page on Verizon’s website has already gone live albeit for a moment before it was taken down. The URL still exists at time of publishing, so you might want to check it out.

That particular page was spotted by a member of The Verge’s forums, and the page also did seem as though it confirmed that some of the rumored hardware specifications, including a 5” display, a quad-core 2.2GHz processor, and a 20-megapixel camera. There was also a $777 price tag attached to it, which is in all probability a placeholder instead of the actual handset’s price. Not only that, this would be the first smartphone in Nokia’s Lumia range that would also stop the numbered branding and take on an actual name instead. Could this very well be one of the last smartphones that will be churned out by Nokia before its Devices and Services division was sold on an official basis to Microsoft?

Leaked Accessory Card “Confirms” Lumia Icon Moniker

Leaked Accessory Card Confirms Lumia Icon MonikerAccording to recent rumors, the upcoming Nokia Lumia 929 for Verizon could be known as the Lumia Icon, but since these are merely rumors, it’s quite hard to tell if they are true. Well according to a leaked photo by @evleaks, it would seem as though the Lumia Icon name is confirmed. This is according to the photo above which is apparently that of an accessory card for Verizon, but unfortunately the image does not resemble anything other than some colored and blurred out rectangles. However this is @evleaks we’re talking about and he has had a pretty stellar track record so far, but at the same time we suppose it is safer to err on caution and take it with a grain of salt for now.

For those hearing about the Lumia 929 a.k.a Lumia Icon, the handset is said to be a smaller version of the Lumia 1520. It is expected to pack the same hardware specs under the hood, but instead of featuring a phablet-sized display, it will feature a more compact 5” display instead. An official launch date for the handset has yet to be announced but if the recent rumors are to be believed, its launch has been delayed until February 2014 which is around MWC 2014, so we guess we won’t have to wait too long to hear the official details.

Nokia Lumia Icon For Verizon Rumored For 16th January Release

Nokia Lumia Icon For Verizon Rumored For 16th January ReleaseEarlier we had reported on a rumor that the Lumia 929 for Verizon could be rebranded as the Lumia Icon, doing away with the numbered models. Unfortunately apart from that piece of information, we’re still in the dark regarding a possible release time, but thanks to a new theory, it has been suggested that the 16th of January 2014 could be a possible date. This is based on how Verizon typically likes to launch their products on a Thursday, not to mention the phone could be officially announced at CES 2014, allowing it to generate some hype and publicity prior to its release, as opposed to Verizon just releasing the device outright without any fanfare.

The Thursday theory seems to line up as last we heard, the previously rumored release date for the handset was pegged for the 21st of November, also a Thursday. In any case we will be taking this with a grain of salt for now and suggest you do the same, but with us already being halfway through to December, we wouldn’t be surprised if the handset’s launch was pushed to 2014 instead. While it has not been confirmed, the Lumia Icon is rumored to be a smaller version of the Lumia 1520 and will share most of its specs, except in a smaller 5” body compared to the Lumia 1520’s phablet proportions.

Verizon’s Lumia 929 Could Be Known As “Lumia Icon”

Verizons Lumia 929 Could Be Known As Lumia IconWord on the street has it that Verizon will be launching a certain Nokia Lumia 929 in the near future, but apparently it will not be known as the Lumia 929, but instead will do away with the model numbers and will simply be known as the Nokia Lumia Icon. This is according to @evleaks who states that the rebranding could be a possibility. It is unclear if this is the new direction that Nokia will be headed with their devices, or if it will only be for Verizon, but either way if and when Verizon launches said device, take note that it could be called something different upon its release.

There’s still no date on when the phone will be launched, and so far we have only been treated to leaked photos that have been making their way around the internet. For those unfamiliar, the Lumia Icon is said to be a smaller sized version of the Lumia 1520 but will retain most, if not all of its specs. It has been rumored to sport the same Full HD 1080p display, except compressed to a 5” display, and will pack a quad-core chipset, a 20MP PureView camera, and will come with 32GB of onboard storage. It sounds like a great device for those who might not appreciate the phablet category of smartphone.

We will be keeping our eyes peeled so check back with us later for more details.
