Super Mario 3D World Trailer Features Its Fair Share Of Cat Costumes

Fans of video games will most probably know just how popular the Mario franchise is to Nintendo, as it is an integral part of the company. Well, we have seen our fair share of Mario titles over the years, and they have the tendency to ride out as winners in their very own right. Thanks to advancements in technology that allow us to view stuff like trailers, we now bring you the latest Super Mario 3D World trailer that interestingly enough, does seem to feature its fair share of cat costumes.

The trailer itself will be in Japanese entirely, where it depicts just how some four-player gameplay action will be like on debut Wii U Mario title. In this particular trailer, it also depicts each character’s special moves in addition to being all decked out in cat costumes. When it comes to Mario, his special ability does seem to be his famous bounce attack, while Luigi boasts of the ability to jump extra high, with Princess Peach floating around, while Toad, the smallest member of the group, is able to dash about. Considering they are all wearing cat costumes, all of them will be able to perform claw and slide attacks in addition to climb vertical surfaces.

There are also other transformations that would make up part of the game, where among them include Double Mario, Giant Mario, various boxes, in addition to favourites such as Fire Mario and Tanooki Mario. Expect Super Mario 3D Land to arrive in North America on November 22 in Europe on November 29.

Princess Peach Pixel Quilt is Peachy

Mario is always on the hunt for his Princess, but she always seems to be in another castle. But it turns out she might actually be taking up residence in your castle thanks to this lovely Princess Peach quilt.

This pixel art quilt was created by Megan “8bit” Healey, and is made from cotton and has a warm fleece backing. It measures 60″ x 78″, so it’s a good size for a twin bed or lounging around on the couch while you wait for Super Mario 3D World to be released.

So punch open some question mark blocks, save up your gold coins and once you have $200 worth, head on over to Etsy and buy this quilt. If Peach isn’t your thing, you can also find Mega Man, Bowser, Tanooki Mario and other fun quilts in her shop.

Cool Parents Make Super Awesome Super Mario Room for Their Daughter

Here is yet another story about parents who go the extra mile for their kids. In this case, these parents created an awesome Super Mario Bros. themed bedroom for their daughter. The daughter requested it and the parents went well beyond the call of duty in giving it to her.

And they didn’t cheat by using all stickers either. The only stickers are Mario and Bowser. The rest of it was painted by hand. Not too shabby. Redditor carpenter75 estimates that it took about 60 hours painting all those bricks, and the total cost for the project was only about $700(USD). Not bad for bringing a classic game to life.

Mario And Luigi Perform Parkour In Real Life

While games like Mirror’s Edge and Assassin’s Creed clearly involve a lot of free running and parkour, we’re not sure the same could be said about Mario games. Then again Mario does jump a lot from and while his actions aren’t exactly parkour, we suppose it could be thought of that way. In a new video that has made its way onto the internet, it features both Mario and Luigi performing parkour in real life! It’s pretty entertaining as it shows both stuntmen jumping from location to location, all the while performing various Mario “moves”, such as bumping bricks, collecting coins, going down pipes, and etc.

The stuntmen featured in the video are none other than Ronnie Shalvis and Christian Russell, the former is the star of two Assassin’s Creed related parkour videos, and both are from the CBR Stunts team. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because another team mate by the name of Chris Romwell recently featured in an Assassin’s Creed 4 parkour video which was just as impressive. In any case if you have a few minutes to spare, this is one video worth checking out.

Life-sized Mario Statue: Will It Shrink if You Hit It?

This statue of Mario must have been fed a Super Mushroom, because he’s big enough to run and jump around in our world. According to its seller, the statue is 150 cm. or about 5 ft. tall. I’m not sure if that’s Mario’s official height, but it seems about right.

You can get the statue from Amazon Japan for ¥ 285,000 (~$2,900 USD). If you’re not a Mario fan, the seller also has other life-sized statues, including one of Spider-Man, Mazinger Z and Tetsujin 28 aka Gigantor.

Mario Kart 7 – Drift IR

Nintendo certainly had a good thing going with their Mario Kart series that kicked off on the SNES, and the karting genre never really looked back after that. In fact, Super Mario Kart opened up the world to interesting possibilities as Mode 7 on the SNES offered gamers a totally different way of looking at games. Many a time, I am quite sure that you have argued with your friend over whether who is correct in a certain situation, and since the both of your are gentlemen, there is only one way to resolve this – through a round of Mario Kart! However, there are times when you do not have access to an emulator or a working SNES, which is where this Mario Kart 7 – Drift IR comes in handy, sporting multi-direction steering with drifting action. Depending on the character you choose (Mario, Luigi, or Donkey Kong), it retails from $29.99 to $84.99.

At least you need not spend your time trying to invent high-octane mini cars and blue spiked shells with wings and homing capabilities from scratch, as the Nintendo R/C Mario Kart! Control is all you need. Sporting variable channels for racing with friends, you can be sure that life will never be the same again, although you would need some talent to ensure that whatever course you have set up will be fair and challenging at the same time.

Super Mario Cat Complex: It’sa Meow, Mario!

While the last memorable cat in a video game was probably Bubsy, that doesn’t mean cats don’t want to get in on the action. Here’s a fun way for your cat to play a little Super Mario Bros., IRL.

    image

This Super Mario Cat Complex was made by Etsy artist CatastrophiCreations, and is the perfect place for cats named Mario or Luigi to hang out.

    image1

The wall-mounted box has a hidden set of portals inside the pipes, and their insides are lined with sisal, which cats just love to climb. The question mark block is made from screen so kitty can see out, though I don’t know if catnip drops out of it when punched.

So skip the scratching post, gather up some gold coins, and head over to Etsy, wher you can pick up the Super Mario Cat Complex for $200(USD).

Elizabeth Sherry’s Classical Videogame Art: Geek Mythology

Illustrator Elizabeth Sherry likes to make classical-style art based on videogame characters. No, not 8-bit. She went way more old school than that. Her digital paintings even have cracks and creases on them to make them look really old.

Super Mario Lamp Finally Makes the Pain in My Life Worth It

Super Mario Lamp Finally Makes the Pain in My Life Worth It

There is no way my parents could have known what a world of pain they were dropping me in by simply giving me the name Mario. It was 1984, and Mario was my dad’s name. THEY COULD NOT HAVE KNOWN WHAT WOULD HAPPEN. But now all the Super Mario/Where’s Luigi/ItsAMe/Wario jokes I’ve ever been the butt of are worth it because this lamp is so damn cool. That’s right people. With the pull of a lamp chain, I am free.
