When it comes to gaming peripherals for the computer, I am quite sure that there is one particular name that should not be overlooked at all, and that would be Razer. The company has just announced the launch of the first mechanical switch in the world that has been specially designed by Razer, which will target the gaming community, calling it the Razer Mechanical Switch.Traditional mechanical switches were used for typing purposes, but the all-new Razer Mechanical Switches have been designed and engineered from the ground up to cater for gamers. This would mean going back to the drawing board in order to re-engineer the traditional mechanical switch.
Apparently, it has taken a whole lot of research by Razer’s multi-award winning engineers to identify the optimal actuation distance for a gaming switch to a fraction of a millimeter, where they then reduced that partiular distance between the actuation and reset point by almost 50% in order to facilitate faster, more precise gaming commands when compared to standard mechanical switches. Apart from that, the all-new Razer Mechanical Switches have also been using with an ultra-precise manufacturing technique that will work in tandem with gold plated contact points, where it ought to be good for up to 60 million key strokes, now how about that?
These switches will no doubt have theoretical value behind their design, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so what better way to put it to the test than to have the world’s most demanding eSports athletes give the new Razer Mechanical Switch a spin, especially in some of the most intense professional gaming tournaments? Implemented in the Razer BlackWidow keyboard, it is said to have a “lighter and smoother feel”, according to Jens “Snute” Aasgaard, Team Liquid StarCraft player. Jens continued, “It’s comfortable and solid – perfect for long practice sessions and tournaments.”
Now don’t go blaming the keyboard anymore if you lose your next competitive StarCraft game, it is just a lack of tactical nous on your part, and not the keyboard.
