Minecraft Title Update 10 For Xbox 360 Currently Awaiting Certification

Minecraft for Xbox 360 just received its title update 9 last week, and already we’re discussing title update 10. Quite the crazy world we live in, eh?

One of the major selling points for title update 9 was the inclusion of “The End,” as well as a number of fixes and improvements to Minecraft. Title update 10 is expected to address more serious issues of a number of bugs that have been causing the game to crash as well as slow down in certain situations. The update will also address issues with a number of Xbox Live Silver members who would receive an error message when attempting to load a save, issues with animals taking damage at random, and a number of additional fixes that we’ll include farther down in this story. Jurassic Park Gets Recreated In Minecraft

While the Jurassic Park movie was a pretty good movie from what I can remember, I’m not sure I can justify paying to watch it again just because it’s in 3D. However if you’re into a different type of 3D, namely the computer game take on 3D, then perhaps this Minecraft recreation of Jurassic Park might be worth taking a look at – not to mention that it’s free since it is on YouTube after all! Put together by Josh Collin, this project took Collin four months mapping out the entire Jurassic Park and digitally recreating every brick from what you might remember from the movie. It is a pretty impressive feat, and oh did we forget to mention that there are dinosaurs too?! If you have a few minutes to spare, be sure to check it out in the video above! So, anyone inspired to go watch the movie again after seeing this recreation?

The wonderful Google April Fool’s joke – a pink Tesla Batmobile – is rolling around California right now, and EA has responded to the “Worst Company in America” poll with a statement that it can do better. It looks like the folks in Austin, Texas could be seeing super fast Internet thanks to Google Fiber in the future, and the cube-shaped Android gaming console OUYA has started shipping.

Microsoft has been vocal about Facebook Home, and also has new Microsoft Stores opening up this month. Samsung has rolled out the Galaxy Note 8.0 in the United Kingdom, and BlackBerry’s R10 and Q10 handsets will be hitting shelves soon. Alienware unveiled an Ubuntu version of its previously Windows-only X51 laptop. Speaking of games, Black Ops II Uprising DLC will be available on April 16, and GameStop has expanded its trade-in program for electronics. Netflix has added 720p HD for Windows Phone 8/7.8, and Arthur Frommer, not willing to see the popular Frommer’s travel guides go out of print, bought them back from Google. On the automotive front, T-Mobile’s data plan for Audi will start at $15 per month, while the science story of the day involves the Hubble telescope finding the most distant supernova to date. That does it for tonight’s Evening Wrap-Up, we hope you enjoy the rest of the night folks!

Minecraft for PC surpasses 10m in sales

Back in January, Minecraft developer Mojang announced that total sales for Minecraft reached 15 million. However, we never got to see a breakdown of sales for each platform. Today, however, it’s been revealed that the PC version alone has now reached 10 million in sales, and the developer even teased a new feature coming to a future update.

Mojang’s lead designer and developer, Jens Bergensten, tweeted the sales announcement and also hinted at a possible new feature coming to the version 1.6 update. The image he links to for the hint is a picture of a horse, suggesting that the four-legged animal will be making its way inside the game at some point.

As for the Xbox Live Arcade version of the game, Mojang reported back in January that the console version reached 5 million in sales. However, we’re guessing that number has only grown since then. As for the mobile versions of the game, which are available on iOS and Android, no statistics have been released on that front.

Minecraft for PC was originally released as an alpha version in 2009, with the full version releasing in 2011. Since August of 2012, Mojang has managed to sell 3 million copies of Minecraft for PC, which is quite impressive for such a small game, but it’s popularity has been something of a triumph over the last couple of years.

Title update 9 will add a ton of new content as well as fixes that will add “The End” to the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft as well as a new Enderdragon behavior. In addition to that, you can expect to be treated to climbable vines, stackable buckets and signs, sheep being able to regrow their wool and a ton of other improvements to the game you could check out for yourself in after the break.

DIY Enderman Plushie: Make Him with Your Eyes Closed

Last month we featured a stuffed doll that you’ll always want to look at. Instructables member MasamuneX on the other hand made a doll that you wouldn’t want to keep in your sights. It’s a plushie of Minecraft’s terrifying Enderman. Quick! To the second paragraph!

Are you all still with me? Don’t look back! Your friend is lost. I’m sorry. MasamuneX used black velour, Poly-Fil fiber and different colored ribbons to make this abominable creature. Either that or it just teleported into existence. Speaking of teleporting –

Ack! It’s right above you! Quick, grab some water!

It’s got me on its sights. I don’t have long, go to MasamuneX’s Instructables page and fight Enderman with Enderman. Obviously you’re obligated to make a pair of them.

Minecraft 1.5 Redstone Update Available

Fans of Minecraft, the digital version of a brick building exercise, you will be pleased to hear that the Minecraft 1.5 Redstone update is now made available from the game launcher. Mojang’s latest update release is a major one, where it will be accompanied by a slew of new redstone blocks, where among them include the Comparator, Hopper, Dropper, Daylight Sensor, Trapped Chest, Weighted Pressure Plates and Block of Redstone.

Of course, there will also be other changes including a spanking new Scoreboard system, lighting engine optimization as well as a new Texture Pack format. It would be too long to list down all changes in the Minecraft 1.5 Redstone update, but just in case you were wondering, the video that you see above will document all 120 changes in a five minute plus take. Hey, if you are not the kind who likes to read stuff, perhaps watching it would register in your brain easier, no? Heck, most folks would just update their Minecraft version anyways without going through to see what’s new. By the way, you do know that Minecraft will arrive on the Xbox 360 in a disc, right?

Minecraft For Xbox 360 To Come In A Disc

Minecraft For Xbox 360 To Come In A DiscMicrosoft must have looked over in the direction of Mojang’s Minecraft title for their Xbox 360 and seen just how many folks picked up the Xbox 360 just to play the game, and decided it would be better if there was a disc-based version of Minecraft for the Xbox 360 made available over retail stores. In fact, Microsoft recently dropped a bomb, saying that they will ship a retail disc copy of the Xbox 360 Minecraft port, which was developed by Mojang as well as 4J Studios, to stores around the world.

Those living in the US will be able to pick up the disc copy of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition at the end of April for $19.99 a pop, where it will then go on sale in Down Under, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Singapore, and Taiwan sometime early this June. As for our friends who live across the pond, sorry folks, there has been no word on an European rollout just yet. Just what will the disc edition hold? Well, you will find similar content to that which is available on the Xbox Live Arcade downloadable version of Minecraft that launched in May last year, including content that is coming in the game’s 9th title update. You can also play against your mates who downloaded a copy of Minecraft. Good times are ahead, indeed.

Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition gets a discbased version, hits retail stores April 30th

Minecraft has already been plenty successful on the Xbox 360 as a downloadable game (and on other platforms, of course), but there will soon be another way for players to find their way into the world-building environment. Microsoft announced today that Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition will be available as a disc-based game at all the usual US retail outlets on April 30th, where it’ll set you back $19.99. The game will be otherwise identical to the downloadable version, and come complete with all the features and content that will be included in the forthcoming ninth update to the game. Gamers in Australia, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Singapore and Taiwan will have to wait a bit longer to get it, though, with release dates in those countries set for early June (other countries haven’t been specified).
