If you are a fan of Minecraft then we have good news for you today. The PC version of the game is set to receive one of the largest patches(Patch 1.3) in months according to Mojang Blog. Mojang believes that the most important change to the game is the re-implementation of Minecraft’s single player mode as a shell on top of its multiplayer, thus uniting any future bug fixes or mods.

One of the most fun things about Minecraft is the ability to customize the game pretty much anyway you want including how your character looks – at least on the PC, Mac and Linux versions. Folks playing it on the Xbox 360 don’t have access to most of the customizations available on the other platforms but it looks like an upcoming update will help make things a little better. According to reports online, the 1.7.3 update for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition will give players a selection of a bunch of skins to choose from in addition to the ability to purchase the first skin pack for the game.
No idea on how much it’s going to cost, but I predict a lot of users are going to be unhappy about having to pay for something that’s available freely elsewhere. In addition to the new skins, the 1.7.3 patch will introduce new features such as the addition of pistons, stackable fences, shears, and more. At first it seems that the Doctor is only traveling through space and not through time, but be patient. Who am I kidding – patience is a nonexistent virtue on the Internet. Skip to 3:00 in the video to see the proof that he is indeed traveling through time.

It appears that Mojang‘s turn-based battle game Scrolls is really, truly about to get off the ground as they’ve launched their first trailer to the web, complete with gameplay. What you’ll see here is a game not unlike a smashing together of Final Fantasy Tactics, Chess, and Pokemon, with a game-board being the center of everything for the next-generation strategy app. You’ll find that this game is on the cuff of starting its first closed alpha, with a beta release coming later this year.
This game has had several comments released by folks such as Jakob Porser, co-founder of Mojang, who notes that the first alpha of the game will have multiplayer matches, single player vs computer, and deck-building features. Your “deck” is a collection of scrolls which will be able to be played like a game of Magic: The Gathering, with characters, spells, and actions dominating the gameplay.
Scrolls will be moving along the same path that the ultra-popular cult-classic game Minecraft did, with a non-final version being released well before a perfected version is unleashed. The folks behind the block crazy game known as Minecraft, Mojang, has another project up their sleeves which they have dubbed “Scrolls“. I sure hope that the weight and expectancy of it all will not result in Scrolls being a dud, but other companies in the past have certainly suffered from being unable to shake off the tag of their previous success no matter whatever new ideas or products that they come up with in the future. Scrolls is said to be in the pipeline that will deliver a unique take on the gameplay. Basically, your scrolls act as collectible cards which enable you to access heroes, creatures and powers that you can utilize in order to defeat your nemesis. Hmmm, does this sound too much like Magic: The Gathering, albeit in a digital format?
The way to get hooked on this game would be to go on an adventure as you attempt to gather and win new scrolls along the way. There has been no release date attached to Mojang’s Scrolls just yet, although Mojang will begin testing the game with a small number of players very soon.
