If you’re an inveterate place-shifter and have the internet bandwidth to spare, there’s no longer any reason to keep your cable TV feeds all to yourself. A Watch update has arrived for the Slingbox 350 and 500 media streamers that includes Facebook integration, letting you invite your friends to view your Slingbox streams on a browser when you’re not (only one connection is allowed at a time). Along with no doubt more “likes,” the update also brings improved zoom controls to handle aspect ratios like anamorphic and letter box, a relocated pause button and advanced device search during setup. You can start inviting your pals on the social network now, but you may want to warn them: you can interrupt their viewing, but they can’t interrupt yours. There’s been a lot of talk about Sony’s reported Honami smartphone, but there haven’t been photos of the beast in a nearly finished state. At least, until now: Gadget Helpline and Weibo user @latter21 claim to have multiple photos of the would-be flagship. The photos largely match up with previous rumors, which have Sony fitting a larger (possibly 20-megapixel) camera into the corner while otherwise preserving a very Xperia Z-like design. There are a couple of surprises — the xenon flash of an earlier leak isn’t visible, and a large speaker has surfaced at the bottom. Unfortunately, the photo suppliers can’t verify many other details. The camera interface is purportedly unfinished, and there’s no mention of the CPU and display quality upgrades inherited from the Xperia Z Ultra. If the images are accurate, though, we’re looking at a subtle design evolution whose biggest upgrades are hidden inside.

If you think a red version of the rumored Droid Ultra just wouldn’t be special enough, you’re in luck. Frequent Motorola device leaker Houdabao claims to have photos of a Limited Edition model that would include a wrap-around racing stripe, much like a decked out muscle car. Unfortunately, there isn’t much more to share. While Houdabao echoes talk of the Droid Ultra sporting a 5-inch LCD and a 6mm thick body, he doesn’t outline the Limited Edition’s full feature set. There’s also no mention of its intended audience — it may be only for Verizon staff, like the red Droid RAZR. Should the special-run Droid Ultra reach the public, though, there’s a chance we’ll learn more about it tomorrow. Check out a second photo of the Limited Edition after the break.

When tech giants buy developers, they frequently let app support fall by the wayside — and Apple is continuing that trend following its acquisition of HopStop. Windows Phone users can no longer download or run their version of the HopStop app. Instead, the developer is asking them to use the mobile website for directions. Curiously, though, the Android app is still hanging around; Apple isn’t dismissing all competing platforms, like it did after buying Siri. Neither Apple nor HopStop have offered explanations for the move, but it’s clear that Windows Phone users will have to lean on alternatives like Here Transit to plan their daily commutes.

Uros’ Goodspeed hotspot service offers sanely priced international data, but it hasn’t been available in China so far — that’s not much help when visiting friends in Fuzhou. Travelers won’t have to fret, however, as Uros just unveiled a network agreement with China Unicom. Goodspeed’s €5.90 ($8) daily rate now supplies a modest-but-usable 500MB of 3G data throughout large parts of China. Visitors will also need to pay Goodspeed’s usual €9.90 ($13) monthly fee and buy the €269 ($353) hotspot, but they’re still looking at big savings over conventional data roaming. Those planning Chinese expeditions will likely want to give the service at least a cursory look through the source link.
