EA Announces Mirrors Edge 2 for nextgen consoles

Well, you’ve been asking for it and DICE is delivering: a new Mirror’s Edge is coming in 2014! Even though we’ve got little detail to run with, it’s a safe assumption that it’ll be coming to both PS4 and Xbox One next year. We don’t even have a launch window, but we’ll say this: we’re excited and so too was the audience. Of all the games powered by Frostbite 3, this much anticipated sequel got the biggest cheers. Now all we’ve got to do is wait, ever so impatiently, for EA to deliver the goods next year — check after the break for the preview trailer and details.

Mirror’s Edge Modded To Run On Oculus Rift VR Headset

Mirror’s Edge is a first person action game that allows the player to perform parkour in order to navigate their way around the game. If you’re the sort of person who suffers from motion sickness, then chances are Mirror’s Edge is not really for you. However for those who love the game and thought it’d be cool if they could actually perform the stunts themselves, you’re sort of in luck because it seems that the game has been modded in order to play nice with the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset, a device which at the moment supports a handful of games, Team Fortress 2 being one of them.

For those unfamiliar with Oculus Rift, this is a virtual reality headset that creates a more immersive gaming experience by making the player feel like they’re there. At the moment the Oculus Rift headset is not as widely available yet, so that means not many gamers will have a chance to experience what this is like, but you can go ahead and check it out in the video nonetheless to get a rough idea. Once again, for those who suffer from motion sickness easily or who are prone to headaches, this is a video you might want to pass on.

Mirror’s Edge Is Free For Lumia Owners

Are you still in two minds as to whether to pick up the new Nokia Lumia 920, even after reading our review on it? Well, perhaps this might be the hair that breaks the proverbial camel’s back – it seems that Electronic Arts and Nokia are working together to bring some festive cheer a whole lot earlier, where the normal $2.99 Mirror’s Edge is now going for free – yes, not a single cent needs to be forked out, in the Nokia Collection. Not only that, it has also been on the receiving end of an update to version 1.1.31.0, where this will carry the spanking new Xbox banner on the Tile and (keep your fingers crossed here) some Windows Phone 8 compatibility, as some folks have tried it out on the Nokia Lumia 920 without running into any bugs or having the smartphone freeze.

Just a quick recap – Mirror’s Edge from Electronic Arts is a 2D/3D platformer that is based on the 2010 hit console game, and while it might be a wee bit dated, it is still an enjoyable romp on Windows Phone. The entire download weighs in at 132MB, so make sure that you are on a Wi-Fi network to be on the safe side as you download this.

Mirror’s Edge released for Lumia phones

Mirror's EdgeLooking for a new game to load up on your brand new Lumia 900? Well, you’re in luck. EA Games has released its 2D platformer, Mirror’s Edge for Nokia Lumia phones today. While it’s not the first person action game that’s currently out on the PC, it’s the side scrolling version that’s been out on for the iPhone and iPad for some time now. I haven’t played the Windows Phone version of the game before but if it’s anything like the iOS version, it should be a blast.

The game puts you in control of a character named Faith, a runner who has to transmit messages while evading government surveillance. Users make use of swiping gestures that let you run, jump, slide and fight enemies. Definitely for fans of games like Canabalt. Mirror’s edge is available now from the Windows Marketplace for $2.99. Give it a shot and let us know what you think. The game is only for Lumia phones and for people living in the US for now but we can expect it to change in the future.
