Survival Card 2 – The Safety Kit that Fits in your Wallet

61qRnsjBf8L._SL1500_

I’m a fan of that Survival Show, you know the one, where they drop groups of people on an island with nothing but the clothes on their back, and some rice. My husband likes to think he would do well on a show like that. On the other hand, I’d just want to hide on the other side of the island and hope everyone forgot about me. Oh, and I’d try to get away with having this next cool gadget hidden in my sneaker…

Check out the Survival Card 2, a small gizmo that can stack the cards in your favor when it comes to surviving almost any unexpected accident, weather event, disaster, or game show. The Survival Card is actually a 2 inch serrated knife, made of stainless steel, a magnesium alloy fire starter, a red LED safety light, and a survival whistle, all encased in a perfectly portable, 2 oz, credit card sized package.

The Survival Card also contains a built in pass thru for a lanyard, a small toothpick, and a tweezer. So whether you wear it around your neck, on your backpack, or just pop it in your purse, pocket or wallet, you’ll have almost everything you might need to keep you “in the game” If you’d like to get your hands on one, and have around 20 bucks to spare,  head on over to amazon.com… and by the way, how would they know if a contestant had something like this hidden in their shoe, do they search them???

URB-E makes commuting seem like fun!

URB-E
When we were younger, going out to play was anything from playing make believe to riding your bike for hours with no particular destination. Now the main reasons we’ll trek outside is because we’re headed to work, or are doing some regimen of exercise. The least exciting of those is the former, as your destination is not particularly fun, and the trip there is not that exciting.

If you walk any portion of your travels to work and wish you didn’t have to overextend yourself, then something like the URB-E might help. This is an extremely compact e-vehicle that will allow you to scoot along at up to 15 miles per hour. If you need to get on the bus or take a cab for a portion of your commute, then this can fold up and fit between your legs. Its ability to decrease in size will also allow you to take it into work and store it discreetly.

This will be able to go about 20 miles on one charge, and even has a spot for your bag to be placed while in transit. If you forgot to plug in your smartphone or tablet the night before, this also has a dock so you can juice up on the go. There is a corresponding app for iOS and Android that will allow you to check on your battery usage, speed, range, and control your lighting or music. This will cost around $300 if you want to pre-order (pay more in the future, but lock in the Kickstarter pricing), or $800-1600 for the whole kit and caboodle.

Edit: I was wrong about the pricing, and it has been corrected!

Xbox One “Titanfall” Special Edition Bundle arriving on March 11

titanfall-xbox-oneThere comes a point in time when everyone starts to look forward to a particular game which might just be a defining moment in a console’s life, and I would suppose that Titanfall would be one of such titles on the next generation Xbox One console. Titanfall was first revealed at E3 2013, and it has since grown to be one of the more highly anticipated games in the new generation of consoles. In fact, Titanfall has already picked up over 80 awards from critics worldwide, where the game itself has been specially described to be “a brave new vision of the future of multiplayer games”, “the first real next-gen shooter” and “the most addictive game ever.”

Hopefully, with such an incredible amount of pressure riding on this title in order to make it a success on the Xbox One platform, it will be able to deliver when the crunch time comes. In fact, to celebrate the launch of Titanfall, it seems that Xbox One fans will be in for a treat. As part of an encouragement for more of your mates to join in on day one of the game’s launch itself, it is set to arrive in the form of the Xbox One Titanfall Bundle. This unique bundle will be made available from March 11 onward over at select retailers, where it will be selling for $499.99 a pop.

You can definitely place a pre-order if you are interested, and just to make sure you know what you are getting into, this particular bundle will include a download code for a digital copy of Titanfall, a standard Xbox One console with a Kinect sensor, a single Xbox One wireless controller which will be accompanied by a chat headset, in addition to a single month’s worth of Xbox Live Gold membership. Any interested parties so far?

Scentee – one of the only times you’re encouraged to smell your phone

Scentee
Much of our past is kept in our minds as memories through sensory experience. What we see, taste, smell, and touch stays with us for years to come. That’s why one small thing can smack you in the teeth with nostalgia. This can either bring tears to your eyes or a smile to your lips, but some things are always worth remembering.

If your sense of smell is what sticks with you the most, then the Scentee might just be a must-have phone accessory. This plugs into your audio jack on your smartphone, and whenever it goes off, you’ll get a puff of scented spray. This can be programmed to notify you that you have a text, act as an alarm clock, and more. Currently, there are Rose, Strawberry, Coffee, Lavender, and Rosemary smell cartridges available, but more will surface in the future.

This is a weird little gizmo, but it would certainly nab your attention pretty quickly if you trained yourself to acknowledge a smell with an alert going off. Of course, just as we experience ‘phantom buzzing’ when we think our phone has gone off when it actually hasn’t, we would likely also experience the same with smells. If you trained yourself to check your phone whenever you smell lavender, you can guess what might happen if you came upon incense, essential oils, or the actual plant. The setup will cost you about $35, and additional cartridges will cost an extra $5 a piece. If you want a scenario of when this could be used for heartwarming moments, go and watch the 10 minute video on the website that probably could’ve been a full-length feature film.

Cardiff Skate S2 might make you want to take up rollerskating again

Cardiff Skate Co S2
There are some things that we did when we were young for the sake of play that seem like too much work now. The laborious task of putting on roller blades and carrying them from place to place when they aren’t in use just doesn’t seem worth it for going to and from work. Normally something a little more streamlined like a bicycle will do the trick. However, their size makes it so you have to leave them somewhere that they might be stolen.

If you wish skating could be as carefree and fun as it used to be, then the Cardiff Skate S2 might be the way to make it so. This is a 3-wheeled bootless system that straps on over top of your shoes. They are a one-size-fits-all, but there are always going to be some exceptions. Try not to wear high heels or the clunkiest boots you own, because they will undoubtedly fail you in this situation.

They’re easy to put on and take off as there’s an automatic size adjustment system, which means they’re perfect for people on the go. They use ABEC 5 chrome bearings, aluminum spacers, and anodized aluminum rails and brakes. The straps have EVA foam so they won’t cut into you after prolonged use, but they will take a bit of getting used to as they are a bit fatter than most skates as the wheel is outside of the frame rather than under. These weigh 11 pounds, so they’ll still be a bit of a bother to carry around, but the positive is that you can keep them with you throughout the day at your desk. Should you have interest in a little nostalgia and wouldn’t mind the commuting exercise, these will cost you around $160 or more.

BRAVEN Vibe unveiled as first portable distributed audio Bluetooth and Wi-Fi audio system in the world

braven-vibeNow here is something interesting from the folks over at BRAVEN – they have unveiled the Vibe, which so happens to be the first portable distributed audio Bluetooth as well as Wi-Fi audio system around the globe. The main objective of the BRAVEN Vibe would be to revolutionize multi-room audio through the empowering of users to share music across multiple devices virtually anywhere, from any wireless device, without missing a beat. Kiss goodbye to messy cables that seem to get all tangled up with one another as though they have a life of their own.

The BRAVEN Vibe System would be able to open the floodgates to single streaming and sharing solutions across iOS, Android, and Windows devices, where it is also capable of supporting multiple audio streams simultaneously. Apart from that, the BRAVEN Vibe System will create a wireless sound network, so that users will be able to establish speaker zones for customized audio streaming regardless of where they are in the immediate vicinity.

This is touted to be the first system in the world that makes use of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity via an app. This app enables users to establish speaker groups under the same network, resulting in a customized audio listening experience such as classical music in the bedroom and kitchen, while those in the living room can chill out to some rock, and the dining room folks will be able to eat in peace with jazz playing in the background.

As long as you have a compatible Bluetooth-enabled device, it will be able to play nice with the BRAVEN Vibe System, all without the need for a wireless network or streaming service. The Vibe System comprises of a Vibe Station, an all-in-one hub/speaker, Vibe Replay which are additional speakers that expands the Vibe system, while functioning as portable Bluetooth speakers, and Vibe Link that lets you integrate existing speakers while distributing audio to additional wireless speakers.

When all else fails, give the Gift of Nothing

The Gift of Nothing
We all have at least one person in our lives who says they have everything they could want when it comes to holiday gift-giving items. As their friend, you still want to show them that they mean something to you, so you write a card or try and think of a swell gift even though they didn’t want anything. More often than not, they already have all the practical items they could ever ask for, as well as the frivolous stuff.

The best way to go at that point is usually by way of joke-gifting. It doesn’t need to be useful, because it’s only meant for a momentary laugh. So if you still want to hand them something with wrapping paper on it, why not give them the Gift of Nothing? Keep in mind that I’m not talking about just any old nothing either. This is some clean-cut, professional-looking packaging that contains a big, heaping helping of nada, zip, and zilch.

It will work wonderfully as a gift meant only for a momentary giggle, but you have to have enough money to think $6 is worth this sort of joke. The item itself costs less than a dollar, but shipping is what jacks up the price. The only purpose it will serve is as a conversation starter on your bookshelf, but it will have fond memories attached to it. Well, assuming you have the right connotation when giving it.

Kero Nomad makes sure your lifeline doesn’t lose power

kero_nomad_ring_sync_charge_cable_micro
While there are now many devices which we want to keep on our person at all times, making sure they are charged and at the ready can be tricky. Misplaced cables are often the culprit, but even if we do have them, they easily become tangled in a configuration of knots that we never even knew were possible. If you don’t need a long cable to charge up your phone or gizmo, then you might want to look at more portable options.

The Kero Nomad is made for people who are constantly on the move. On the outside, it looks like a very awkward keychain, but hiding beneath the cap is a USB to Micro USB or lightning connector which will give your gear the power it needs to keep going. It’s a simple design, and would be one of those items you forget about until you need it.

Of course, the lightning connector is priced higher at $20 rather than its $10 Micro USB counterpart. You’ll be able to choose between white and blue for the casing, but neither are likely going to look clean after being attached to your keys for a week. The cable is about three inches long, and is perfect in a pinch (assuming you have the power source to plug it in to). The only thing I would worry about is the cap losing its grip over time and dropping this cable without your knowledge.

Holy Brakes, Batman!!!

image

We have all seen them on the road. The person who seems to have spent more on trickin’ out their ride then on the ride itself. I can’t say that I am a big fan of blinging up you car. But for the superhero fans in the world, this product is different. The Batman sign brake lite is 100% awesome.

It is a super simple product…basically affix the vinyl shape to you third brake lite. But the results look cool. I am NOT recommending that you pull in front of the bad guy and slam your brakes on but….

If you think this would make a great addition to your ride or a great gift for a petrol head (with superhero tendencies) then you can buy the Batman brake lite from Amazon.com for $9.99.

Tail Lights – Illuminate your Ponies Tail

Tail Lites

I’ve seen some pretty strange things looking for investment on Kickstarter, but this one looks to be the strangest so far. Tail Lights, a cascading LED light display that you attach to a horses tail.

Initially this seemed a bit gimmicky but on further inspection it does serve a really useful purpose, visibility. It’s kind of like a high visibility vest on steroids. The tail lights are fixed to the horses tail via a velcro strap, come in multiple colors (you can get different colored strands) and have a drip like illuminate effect.

Currently on Kickstarter, they need to reach $100,000 before they become a reality, with the safety implications they could have I really hope they reach it. Further info and ordering Tail Lights can be found over on Kickstarter.
