Seeking power was an arduous task as most folks learned early on in the
aftermath of superstorm, Hurricane Sandy. Desperately seeking power for
our cell phones, iPads and laptops became part of the zeitgeist emanating from those affected in New Jersey and New York. The power grid
that used to affect only our heat, electricity and land lines now
included cell towers that experienced disrupted service as well. Even
for those services that remained operational, without electricity we
needed alternatives to charge our devices.

With the presidential election only 2 weeks out, both campaigns are
fully cognizant of the impact of social media and how one meme can sway
opinion within minutes of it being uttered. At no other time in U.S.
history has the combination of messaging on TV and Twitter become so
intertwined. However instead of paying the hefty fees of a TV ad, the
presidential contenders incur less cost by purchasing Promoted Tweets and Trends, and ironically utilize the free medium of a TV
debate to drive the traffic.

Words With Friends is a multi-player word game developed by Zynga. It’s
popularity got a boost from Alex Baldwin’s infamous riff with a
stewardess when he refused to turn off the game during take-off. Similar
to the rules of Scrabble, players can choose to play with a friend or a
random player found online. President Obama has chosen to play the game
with undecided voters using a new word he coined this past week. . .
called "Romnesia"

Every generation has had its own dance craze, from the Charleston of the
1920s, the Jitterbug of the 1940s, the Twist (60s), the Hustle (70s) the Makarena (90s) to even the Chicken Dance still a staple at today’s
wedding receptions. Those that stood the test of time etch a notch into
our global zeitgeist. Such is the case with "Gangnam Style," a song and
dance created and popularized by South Korean Rapper Psy.
