California Silverado Headphones: No Pick-Up Trucks Involved

These solid-looking, retro-styled headphones are made out of die-cast metal, leather and titanium by the California Headphone Company. They have a couple of cool features, on top of looking pretty good.

The Silverado headphones have a premium 40mm titanium driver, and 280-degree articulating hinges. The large, padded headband is contrast-stitched and the leather cups look like they’ll fit over your ears nicely. The 3.9-foot-long cord has a secondary female jack on the end, which allows you to share your tunes with a friend without missing a beat, and a knitted zebra cloth finish on them to reduce tangling. Frequency response is rated at 20 to 20,000 Hz and the impedance is 50 Ω.

The Silverados sells for $225.95(USD) and are available this month, and include a nice leather carrying case with a carabiner clip for attaching it to your bag. If the Silverados are too expensive for your budget, California Headphones offers a less expensive, yet equally stylish model – the Laredo – for just $99.95.

GoJo is “the Only, Truly Hands-Free Headset” in Existence

All of the hands-free headsets in the market today aren’t really “hands-free” because you still have to hold your phone. And because of that, they make answering calls difficult when your hands are busy doing something else.

If you’re looking for a truly hands-free headset, then you’re in luck because the GoJo is here. It’s a headset with a suction cup on one end, where you’re supposed to stick your phone on when you need to answer a call.

gojo handsfree

When you’re done and the headset is already on your head, just continue whatever it is you’re doing while possessing full use of both your hands.

Check out the video to see how the GoJo Hands Free Cell Phone Headset works. If you’re not yet sold on the “truly hands-free” idea, then maybe the commercial will because the guy who shows them off is really good at what he does.

You can get a pack of 2 GoJos from Amazon for $9.59.

Do you love the design that went in to the QLOCKTWO clocks, but don’t want to spend the big bucks to own one? Check out the QLOCKTWO app, that’s available for iOS and Android. It’s a lot cheaper and you can have it right on your phone, right now.

EBay Now Gets Your Products to You the Same Day

I think I’m like most people out there in that I like shopping online, but I hate waiting for stuff to show up. Shipping takes too long and more often than not, many places don’t ship the same day you place the order, and express shipping can really add up. eBay has a new iPhone application that has launched in beta called eBay Now. This app takes online shopping to the next level with cheap same-day delivery.

ebay now

EBay now has six featured stores including Macy’s, Toys “R” Us, Target, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, and Best Buy. The beta is currently by invitation in the San Francisco area. All stores that are partnered with the app are participating for San Francisco residents between 9 AM to 9 PM Monday through Saturday and from 9 AM to 6 PM on Sundays.

The way the app works is that users go to one of the participating stores, find the product they want, and then pay for it and enter the delivery address. The coolest part is the delivery address can be home, office, or the bar down the street. According to eBay Now, many items will be delivered to you within the hour, and up to 30 minutes from the close of each store. Beta users get $15 off their first eBay Now order and free shipping on their first three orders. After those first three orders, the delivery fee is five dollars, which is still a bargain for same day delivery.

Partly Cloudy iPhone App: The Infographic Weather Companion

Whenever I check the weather on my phone, I open up a couple of different apps, I always find it funny that none of them give exactly the same information. That being said, I don’t currently use an app like Partly Cloudy, which definitely looks like an interesting way to check the weather forecast.

partly cloudy app ios iphone raureif weather

Designed by Raureif, the Partly Cloudy app runs on iOS devices, and has a unique, compelling visual infographic based on the face of a clock. Time is shown on the outer ring of the display. The second ring represents the temperature for that time. As you turn the clock’s hand, the app will show you the weather for that hour. It will also display highs and lows, wind force, the amount of precipitation and the weather situation, and includes numeric indicators as well.

Freedom Sleeve Turns iPod Touch into a 4G iPhone

Having compared an iPhone 4S and an iPod Touch next to each other, I can confirm that I’d rather carry around an iPod Touch since it’s very thin compared to the iPhone. That sentiment will make even more sense once you pop FreedomPop’s Freedom Sleeve case onto your iPod Touch.

The Freedom Sleeve gives your iPod Touch access to a 4G network, allowing you to use it like you use your iPhone – except on a fast, modern network. You can Skype, chat, message, and make phone calls. You can even share the signal with up to eight other devices, providing a Wi-Fi mobile hotspot.

The FreedomPop network is free for the first GB. After that, you’ll pay $10 per GB. The upside of this deal is that you don’t need to have a contract and that you can cancel it anytime.

The case costs $99(USD) and it’s aimed at people who travel a lot who are looking to ditch their cell phone contracts. If you’re interested, the Freedom Sleeve is now available for pre-order in select markets.

Paparazzo Light: The Ultimate Flash for iPhones

So you’ve gotten tired of using your iPhone’s flash. It does its job alright, but it’s nothing compared to a Nikon speedlight. That’s why the Paparazzo Light might make sense. It will make your iPhone a whole lot bulkier, but at least you’ll be able to take decent pics at night.

paparazzo light flash iphone kickstarter

The Paparazzo Light is powered by a 300 Lumen LED that has two CR 123 batteries and has three different modes for brightness settings, for use in photos and vids. The examples that the team behind the flash have shown are quite compelling, so it definitely has some uses if you use your iPhone a lot. It snaps onto the base of the iPhone 4 or 4S, and can be easily removed and tossed in your bag when not in use – though it doesn’t look like it will work with most third-party cases.

paparazzo light flash iphone kickstarter comparoThe project was launched through the Kickstarter crowdfunding site. At the time of writing, it had amassed $4,500 out of a projected goal of $50,000 with 27 days to go. A pledge of at least $45(USD) will get you one of the first Paparazzo iPhone lights.

Bladepad iPhone 4S Gamepad Comes With a Case, Doesn’t Come With a Game

Despite the millions of dollars of profits that it’s raking in, Apple still hasn’t come up with a way to include native support for physical controllers in iOS games. The best that we can hope for is for a gamepad manufacturer to step up and get support from developers. I really hope Bladepad does that.

bladepad iphone 4s gamepad

The Bladepad is a Bluetooth 4.0 gamepad that comes with all the buttons and sticks present in a modern console controller: a D-pad, two analog sticks, four face buttons, four shoulder buttons and even a select and start button. It comes with a case, but you can detach the Bladepad itself if you choose. It even comes with a charger that can simultaneously juice up the controller and the iOS device that it’s attached to.

Now for the bad news. Because it uses Bluetooth 4.0, the Bladepad is only compatible with the iPhone 4S and the new iPad. Worse, as of this writing the controller is confirmed to work with – drum roll please – only one game.  The makers of the controller did say that they’re working with “several major game studios and many independent studios as well.” I really like how the Bladepad looks and fits, so I hope it gets widespread support from developers.

A pledge of at least $59 (USD) on Kickstarter gets you a Bladepad, but if you ask me I think you should pledge less than that. You might be stuck with a beautiful controller that has no games to control.

Tumi Dror Backpack: The Transformer Bag

It’s probably happened to you. You’re walking along with a briefcase or other bag and realize that it’s getting too heavy. You wish that you had taken a backpack. That’s the basic idea behind the Dror Backpack from Tumi. This expandable and transformable backpack will give you the best of all bag worlds – for a price.

The Tumi Dror Backpack was designed by New York based architect Dror Benshetrit. It can function as a tote, briefcase or backpack. It’s got loads of pockets, zips, both interior and exterior to help you manage your gear. It will carry laptops up to 15″ and comes with a media pocket. The front pocket has a slight angular profile, which is cool.

Tokyoflash Subway Watch Concept: Underground Map Easily Tells Time

Tokyoflash has got a great track record of turning user-submitted designs into reality. This new concept watch created by Peter Fletcher from the UK looks pretty cool, and if enough of you guys like the design, it could be produced some day.

tokyoflash watch subway concept

Peter says that the layout of his concept watch is supposed to remind you of the way that subway maps look. When you push a button, the LCD watch will light up thanks to animated chain links, which will help display the proper time. The first “stop” on the line is the first digit of the current time, and so forth. This seems pretty straightforward and you’d probably get used to reading the time like this quickly enough.

If you like this concept watch and would like to help make it real, head on over to the Tokyoflash Design Blog and vote for it.
