MoDaCo.Switch for Galaxy S 4 now available in beta… to Indiegogo backers

MoDaCoSwitch for Galaxy S 4 now available in beta to Indiegogo backers

For about a month now, HTC One owners have been able to enjoy MoDaCo’s efforts to mix up the Android experience on the Taiwanese company’s handset. But, hey, don’t go thinking anyone forgot about Samsung’s own flagship device, the Galaxy S 4. Available now to those who backed the campaign on Indiegogo, MoDaCo.Switch is giving the GS4 crowd a ROM to sense what it’s like to seamlessly switch between the TouchWiz and AOSP versions of Android OS. It’s worth noting that this particular ROM is only compatible with GSM models of the Galaxy S 4, and, as ever, creator Paul O’Brien notes it is a beta after all, so some issues may arise. In other words, backers must install at their own risk — capiche?

MoDaCo.SWITCH For Galaxy S4 i9505 Beta Releases Tomorrow

MoDaCo.SWITCH For Galaxy S4 i9505 Beta Releases Tomorrow

There are two kinds of Android users. There are users who don’t worry about carrier bloatware and skins slapped on top of Google’s mobile OS. Then there are users who prefer the pure vanilla Android experience, opting to use the mobile OS just the way Google designed it. Users often root their devices and install custom ROMs to mimic pure Android experience, while some manufacturers release two editions of one smartphone to cater to both kinds of users. HTC One is a prime example, the Google Play Edition comes with pure Android, all other variants come with modified versions. The MoDaCo.SWITCH ROM eliminates the need for purchasing two devices for two experiences. Currently only available for HTC One, it has been announced today that MoDaCo.SWITCH for Samsung Galaxy S4 release in beta version tomorrow.

A funding campaign to bring this ROM over to Galaxy S4 started off last month, the £1,000 was soon achieved. The first beta of MoDaCo.SWITCH for Galaxy S4 model i9505 will be released tomorrow. The beta build is only being released to those who backed the funding campaign, there’s no reason to worry if you didn’t back the campaign. Once best testing is completed, the ROM will be released for everyone to download and use on their Samsung Galaxy S4. No word on how long the beta phase will last.

HTC One’s MoDaCo Switch Could Arrive On Galaxy S4

HTC Ones MoDaCo Switch Could Arrive On Galaxy S4Earlier this month, we did take a look at the MoDaCo Switch for the HTC One, where it enables one to run not only HTC’s very own Sense user interface which runs on top of Google’s Android operating system, but also paves the way for HTC One owners to enjoy a true blue Google experience. Well, there are whispers of the Samsung Galaxy S4 picking up the MoDaCo Switch as well, and since there is quite a number of Galaxy S4 variants around, the particular unit which we are referring to would be the GT-i9505.

A funding campaign for the Galaxy S4 MoDaCo Switch has already kicked off over at Indiegogo, with hopes to ultimately raise £1,000. This is not a far fetched goal, as to date, £770 has already been pledged. Once it is complete, Samsung Galaxy S4 owners too, will be able to sit smugly next to their friends who have a HTC One, where one is able to make the jump from the TouchWiz interface to stock Android in a jiffy. It is said that a £3 pledge will provide you with early access to the MoDaCo Switch on your Galaxy S4, and should you be feeling a wee bit more generous, you can even drop £3,000 which has been described as “the full monty option”. One of the perks of dropping such a serious amount of coin would allow you to have dinner with the whole team in London, where you will also be on the receiving end of a Samsung Galaxy S4 that has MoDaCo Switch installed already.
