Modern Warfare 3 DLC official details revealed

Yesterday, we took a gander at Modern Warfare 3′s DLC Map images, and today, here we are with the official nitty gritty on the Modern Warfare 3 DLC that will arrive next month. Sledgehammer Games’ Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Michael Condrey has shed more light on ‘Light ‘Em Up’ and ‘Special Delivery’ Spec Ops missions. First of all, would place the gamer in the timeline that is located right after Modern Warfare 3′s single-player campaign ends, where one will be able to check out a couple of SAS operatives storming an Eastern European stronghold in order to perform a delicate rescue operation on a teammate.

As for Special Delivery, this is one map that will bring you to a hydroelectric dam that is located at the base of a Chinese river (the Three Gorges project, perhaps?) in order to secure the life of a helicopter pilot in a sensitive rescue operation. Light ‘Em Up would also introduce a first into the game franchise via a fully pilotable vehicle in the form of the Little Bird helicopter that offers air support to the other player who has his or her feet firmly grounded. Co-op play had never been this fun, no?

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ad cannot be shown during daytime

Here is something that you do not hear about every day – an ad for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been banned from daytime TV. Just how the heck did this situation come about? Well, advertising watchdog ASA claimed that this latest ad for the game contained scenes of violence and destruction which were deemed as “inappropriate” for young children, including buildings exploding and catching fire, not to mention having armed men fire at a lorry until it actually veers off the path and crashes, in addition to a helicopter firing rockets that deliver death from above. A couple of viewers who had seen the ad complained that it should not run during the day, as there might be children could be watching, with one of the complainants touting that their kids aged between 2 and 4 were scared out of their wits.

The game itself was slapped with an 18 certificate from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) due to the content of its graphic violence and real world settings, and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) followed up on this with a statement, “We considered that the scenes of violence and destruction, together with the sound effects and music, could cause distress to some children who might see the ad. Although we noted that the ad was only shown during the football, we concluded that it was inappropriate for broadcast during the day when young children might be watching and the ex-kids restriction was insufficient.” You can only view the ad after 7.30pm from now on.
