AOC i2367fh monitor takes the borderless route

Are all computer monitors the same? The obvious answer is, of course, no. After all, we do have different sizes of monitors in the market, and all of them do come with various specifications ranging from the resolution to pixel density and brightness/contrast levels. Well, if there is one route that monitors tend to move to these days, it would be the “slim is in” look – and apart from that, there is also the transition towards a smaller bezel size; so much so that the recently released AOC i2367fh monitor looks as though there is no bezel at all. I kid you not – take a look at the image above and tell me otherwise!

The AOC i2367fh monitor can be considered to be a virtually borderless 23-inch monitor, making it the ideal setup for not only workstations but gaming machines as well. Sporting an Advanced High-Performance In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology as well as a whopping 50,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, we are talking about top notch enhanced picture quality here, where it will be accompanied by higher definition, better color accuracy and greater light transmission.

You will not find it difficult to hook up Blu-ray players, video game consoles as well as a slew of other compatible devices effortlessly thanks to the integrated HDMI port as well as integrated speakers which do away with the need for external audio.

The bezel itself measures a near invisible 2mm, making the monitor look extremely sleek and of course, borderless. Not only that, the AOC i2367fh monitor comes with an artistic design which also boasts of a metallic hook-shaped stand, letting you enjoy two different setup modes of viewing – one as a photo frame style sans a base, and the other as an ordinary function stand. You can pick up the AOC i2367fh monitor for $199 at select retail stores.

AOC’s 23-inch IPS monitor almost skips the bezel, ships soon for $199

AOC's 23inch IPS monitor almost skips the bezel, ships soon for $199

Close on the heels of its “virtually borderless” (when it’s turned off) 27-inch IPS monitor, display maker AOC has come up with a smaller sibling to add to the family. The 23-incher, tagged the i2367fh, totes similar styling and specs — IPS technology, a claimed 2mm bezel, 1920 x 1080 resolution with 50,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 5ms response time and two HDMI ports. The off timer function its predecessor sported also remains. However the new model, which is part of a different series, can’t boast of the same height-adjustable stand and 4-watt speakers, integrating a 2-watt pair instead. The monitor carries a $199 sticker, but you can snag it for 10 bucks lower on backorder from B&H Photo and Amazon — stock is expected later this month.

AOC Borderless i2367fh 23-inch Monitor

AOC has just announced the availability of their i2367fh borderless 23-inch monitor, where at first glance above, it looks as though we are having a gander at a Photoshop job – which obviously isn’t of course. The AOC i2367fh will boast Advanced High-Performance In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology as well as 50,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio which is said to deliver enhanced picture quality, higher definition, better color accuracy and greater light transmission. It does not matter whether you hook up Blu-ray players to it, or enjoy your favorite video games on it, or connect different kinds of compatible devices with it via the integrated HDMI port, the AOC i2367fh ought to get the job done – and done well.

Internal speakers ensure that there is no need for external audio, although those who place a premium on sound effects might beg to differ. The AOC i2367fh’s 23-inch IPS display sports a mere 2mm bezel which ensures it looks sleek and “borderless”, where a metallic hook-shaped stand paves the way for a couple of different setup modes of viewing – whether you want it to be a photo frame style sans a base, or a standard function stand. It basically retails for $199 a pop.

LG EA93 UltraWide Monitor announced

LG achieves yet another first with the announcement of the LG EA93 UltraWide Monitor, which is the first monitor of its kind in the world to boast of a 21:9 aspect ratio. Delivering 29” of viewing real estate, the LG EA93 UltraWide Monitor will also come with a 4-Screen Split feature as well as 100% sRGB color space expression, delivering better multitasking and multimedia capabilities for anyone who decides to pick this puppy up – whether for the home, at work, or at the office. Specially designed for maximizing productivity, this particular monitor will feature an IPS display in order to produce extremely vivid and lifelike colors.

I guess you can say that just about any work environment will definitely more than welcome the LG EA93 UltraWide Monitor, where 29” of viewing real estate definitely delivers a whole lot of space for multiple documents and windows to be viewed – simultaneously, giving you a far more decent working environment as you spend less time switching between windows. It is definitely a case of experiencing a large viewing real estate once, and finding it rather difficult to revert to what you were used to. Not only that, the expansive display also enables additional spreadsheet columns to be viewed simultaneously, or you can opt to read a two-page document side-by-side.

Other than that, graphics professionals, too, will find the LG EA93 UltraWide Monitor to be an outstanding device. The monitor itself allows artists to see more as well as do more with their time. Being seen by some (pun not intended) as the ultimate multitasking tool, the 4-Screen Split feature will divide the screen into two to four segments, where each of them is able to be uniquely customized.

For entertainment purposes, the UltraWide Monitor’s 21:9 aspect ratio remains very close to the dimensions of movie theater screens, and thanks to its cinematic dimensions, the monitor can show off films just the way they were meant to. Gamers too, are not left out with this new monitor, as one can play games as well as videos from their smartphones on the monitor thanks to the included MHL connection, and throw in another pair of 7W stereo speakers, and you get quite the immersive entertainment experience. No idea on pricing, but the LG UltraWide Monitor will arrive in South Korea early November.

LG unveils world’s first 21:9 panoramic monitor

Some days it seems like there is never enough monitor real estate for all the applications you have open. Thusly you add a second monitor into the mix, which, while convenient, isn’t as awesome as having one giant monitor spread before your eyes. This is where LG’s EA93, a 29-inch monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio, comes in.

Newly announced over on the LG Korea website, the EA93 is a panoramic monitor with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,080. The monitor features built-in 7w stereo speakers, and has an ultra-slim bezel for those who hate wasted space. It also offers a Super Energy Savings feature, which results in the monitor drawing about 25-percent less electricity than equivalently-sized units.

As for connectivity, the EA93 offers a DVI-D Dual port, two HDMI ports, three USB 3.0 ports, a Display Port, and Audio In/Headphone Out. The monitor has built-in software that offers a four-screen split so that users can divide their computing activities up. You can watch a movie in fullscreen mode in one of the split screens, for example.

Says the announcement, the EA93 offers life-like colors via an IPS display, and is ideal for both entertainment and multimedia, making it a “multi-entertainment” device. The monitor features 100-percent sRGB color expression. Finally, one of the HDMI ports is a mobile high-definition link, allowing users to display share with a mobile device. The monitor is available in Korea for 690,000 won ($633USD), and will be available elsewhere later this year.

LG's 29inch EA93 is the world's first 219 ultrawidescreen monitor to go on sale

While “ultrawidescreen” 21:9 aspect ratio HDTVs haven’t taken off despite several attempts, LG is bringing the formfactor to the desktop with its new EA93 UltraWide LCD monitor. Measuring at 29-inches with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,080, it uses the extra horizontal space to display not just cinema-style movies, but also side by side video from different sources or up to four different views at once thanks to its built-in software. For connections, it has DVI Dual Link, DisplayPort, or HDMI with MHL support. We got an eyeful of the monitor at IFA earlier this year and you can check out our hands-on video after the break, or take a quick Korean vacation to snag one for 690,000 won ($633) before they go on sale everywhere else later in the year — pricing elsewhere has not yet been announced.

AluRack Lets You Stash Stuff Behind Your iMac or Cinema Display

There are quite a few people using laptops as their main machines these days. Though I still use a desktop PC for a lot of my computing tasks, I have set up a MacBook Pro 17 as an ancillary workstation with an external screen. Monitors tend to be quite large, and finding the optimal placement for your laptop can be problematic. I like this solution because it actually hides your laptop behind your monitor.

The AluRack is a spartan solution that attaches to the Apple displays. It can also prop up an external hard drive. The shelf is securely fastened to the circular cutout of Apple’s metal stand, and it works with iMacs and, Thunderbolt and Cinema Displays. It was created by Danish designer Jakob Wagner, and he used two pieces to set this up.

The all-aluminum craftsmanship perfectly meshes with Apple’s industrial design, and it looks pretty cool, while helping to reduce desktop clutter. The AluRack sells for $60(USD) over at Just Mobile.
