Monster Hunter 4 Nintendo 3DS XL Announced

Monster Hunter 4 Nintendo 3DS XL AnnouncedThe Monster Hunter franchise is one that has garnered a fair number of fans over the years, where the game is huge in Japan itself. In fact, we might just be in the second month of 2014, but this does not mean that there is no reason not to look forward to 2015, since Monster Hunter 4 has been destined to arrive in the West next year. The Monster Hunter cash cow has plenty of milk left in it – or so it seems, since both Capcom and Nintendo have come together to announce the impending release of a special Monster Hunter 4 Nintendo 3DS XL that has the nickname “Rajang Gold.”

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Set To Arrives As Nintendo 3DS Exclusive In Early 2015

monster-hunter-4-ultimateSo, we have heard about Monster Hunter 4 arriving as a Nintendo 3DS bundle over in the Land of the Rising Sun (where else?) in October last year, and if you cannot get enough of the Monster Hunter series on Nintendo’s diminutive handheld console, then here is a little bit of something for you to check out – apparently, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is already being prepared to be released as a Nintendo 3DS exclusive, although this particular title will roll out sometime early next year.

Monster Hunter 4 Racks Up Sales Of 1.7 Million Copies In 2 Days

Monster Hunter 4 Racks Up Sales Of 1.7 Million Copies In 2 DaysAll right, so right now the hottest game title on the market happens to be GTA 5, no doubt about it. In fact, the game itself has already pulled in a whopping $800 million (!) in sales since its launch, taking less than 24 hours to do so. That certainly is pretty interesting, but Japan has some records of its own to boast about. In fact, the recently released Monster Hunter 4 has also moved a whopping 1,715,060 retail copies in just two days.

Of course, this just goes to show just how crazy Japanese can get about their own gaming franchises. I do wonder how will Rockstar’s latest title fare in the Land of the Rising Sun, considering the game has yet to be released in that part of the world just yet, but it would be really interesting to see how GTA 5 stacks up against Monster Hunter 4 in that part of the world. If one were to combine both physical and digital sales figures of Monster Hunter 4 in Japan, it would exceed two million purchases across four days. This would surely surprise Capcom, as their original estimate stood at selling 2.8 million copies by March 31, 2014. I guess this has shattered all expectations, and it definitely rings in some good news for the publisher.

No Monster Hunter Planned For The PS Vita

No Monster Hunter Planned For The PS VitaCapcom’s Monster Hunter was available on the PSP handheld console, which is why many rightfully assumed it would eventually make its way onto the PS Vita as well, or will it? Unfortunately for PS Vita owners, it seems that if you want to enjoy Monster Hunter on your handheld console, you’re out of luck unless you don’t mind settling for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, which is essentially a PSP port, and while the game itself is by no means bad, we’re sure Vita owners were hoping for something a little more exclusive and perhaps high-def.

This unfortunate news was discovered by the folks at NeoGAF who found the evidence in the Ask Capcom forum where Capcom associate online/community rep Yuri L. Araujo was quoted as saying, “Sorry we’ve got no plans for a PS Vita Monster Hunter at the moment.” Of course this could be interpreted as meaning that perhaps down the line there could be Monster Hunter for the PS Vita, but we guess for now PS Vita will have to turn to the port for their monster hunting needs.

Monster Hunter Nintendo 3DS XL Case Now Available For Pre-Order

Monster Hunter Nintendo 3DS XL Case Now Available For Pre OrderIf you’re a fan of Monster Hunter on the 3DS and you want to show your love of the game, Capcom has announced that the Monster Hunter themed 3DS XL cases are now available for pre-order! The case itself will be made from aluminum and according to Capcom, will be compatible Circle Pad Pro, although the caveat is that you will need to remove the bottom piece in order to do so. The 3DS XL version of the case was voted by gamers awhile back and we have to admit that compared to the original 3DS Monster Hunter case, the 3DS XL’s case looks much better especially with its bronze-ish finish. The case is available for pre-order via the Capcom Store for $19.95 and is expected to start shipping in March, and as Capcom notes, they do ship internationally so don’t worry if you’re not living in the US. So, who’s picking one up for themselves?

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate video shares more on Wii U features

It was one week ago when we shared on how Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U will come with Full HD visual glory, in addition to 5.1 channel surround sound for that extra bit of realism in your living room. Not only that, before the work week ended, we talked about how screenshots of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate were revealed for the Wii U.

Well, if screenshots and words are not enough for the Monster Hunter fanboy in you, there is always one more resort to fall back on – that of a video, and with the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate video above, it will explain the features of the game that is found on the Wii U, with the adorable Cha-cha and Kayamba starring inside to perform all the relevant explanations for the uninitiated. Of course, longtime fans of the series would find this pair to overload on the cuteness level as well.

Nintendo Announces New Black 3DS XL and Other Colors for Japan

It seems Nintendo has taken Wesley Snipes’ advice and bet on black. Nintendo has announced that it will be launching a new black version of the 3DS XL, known as the 3DS LL in Japan, on November 1. The console has the same hardware, it’s just a black satin finish. Nintendo has some other new colors set to launch in Japan at ¥18,900 (~$240 USD) as well.

The other colors include a pink and white version, a silver and black version, a black and red version, and a blue and black version. Nintendo is also talking about some of its limited-edition bundle packs that will include the console and a video game. One of the bundle packs includes the Monster Hunter Tri G pack including a black console and the game – also landing on November 1 for ¥21,800 (~$277 USD).

There’ll also be a special Animal Crossing bundle for the ¥22,800 (~$290 USD), including a white console with various different colored dots and fruits on it. Perhaps most interesting is the Super Mario Bros. 2 pack that has a black and red console with little images from the game on the cover such as stars and the game’s iconic question mark boxes. That bundle pack will sell for the same price. There’s no word on if or when these special editions might come to the US.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on Wii U goes Full HD, supports 5.1 surround sound

It seems that video game studios and developers are surely doing their best to make sure that the gaming experience which users enjoy will be on par with even some of the best shot movies. Of course, the realism level when it comes to graphics cannot compare to that of an actual human, but CGI technology has definitely come a long way since the days of Pong. Audio, however, gets close to the real deal with each bone crunching punch delivered, or the roaring breath of a monster coming right at you full of rage. Famitsu claims that the Nintendo Wii U version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be able to support 1080p high-definition and linear PCM 5.1-channel surround sound, now how about that for a little touch of class?

Not only that, you will also be able to make use of the Nintendo 3DS version’s bottom screen panel function in tandem with the Wii U GamePad. Internet multiplayer will also be part of the package, but if you can get three other like-minded folks with a 3DS, why not play locally? Your save data can be shared between the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U versions, thanks to a free app data migration application. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is starting to shape up to be a winner even before it is released.

Resident Evil director interested in turning Monster Hunter into a movie

We’re sure that many gamers out there would love to see their favorite game turned into a Hollywood movie, or maybe not, depending on who the director is. Well if you’ve enjoyed the Resident Evil franchise so far, you might be interested to learn that Paul W.S. Anderson might be interested in turning Monster Hunter into a movie. When the director of the upcoming Resident Evil: Retribution movie was asked in an interview with Cinema Today as to which video game he would like to make into a movie, he replied by saying, “Recently, I’ve been loving Monster Hunter. A film conversion is currently in planning.” It is unclear as to whether the planning refers to something he’s doing on his own time or if there are studios in Hollywood who have picked it up already. Either way what do you guys think? Would Monster Hunter translate well into a Hollywood blockbuster movie? Or are some video games best left alone?

Capcom hints at upcoming Monster Hunter announcement

If you’ve enjoyed the Monster Hunter series to date, it seems that Capcom has some Monster Hunter-related announcements to make “very soon”. This was revealed by community manager, Yuri Araujo, who posted this message on Capcom-Unity’s blog:

“I actually joined as a user specifically to inquire (read: complain) about the situation regarding Monster Hunter 2 (dos) Western release back in 2005/06 – so I know exactly how it feels to be lacking a new MH game for a while.

Patience is a virtue, right? Eventually it pays off somehow. We’ll have something veeeeery soon.”

At this point it is unknown as to what the announcement could be about. Some are thinking (and hoping) it could be Monster Hunter 4 and 3G localization details, but we guess we will have to wait and find out, so stay tuned for more updates in the future!
