Cyclops Case Dresses Up Your iPad in (Almost) Self-Cleaning and Furry Garb

Here’s another iPad case that you can add to your growing collection (that most likely already includes the French Cover and the Moshi iGlaze iPad VersaCover): the Cyclops iPad case. It basically plays up the iPad’s design, since the ‘eye’ of Cyclops in this case is your iPad’s camera.

Cyclops iPad CaseThese cases are perfect for people who love everything furry and for those who use their tablets at home (since given their furry nature, it probably wouldn’t be the smartest thing to do to take it to the great outdoors and expose it to the elements.)

What makes the Cyclops case so different, though, are its arms. Not that you haven’t seen arms on cases before, but they aren’t just there for show or for decoration.

They’re actually made of microfiber material, so you can use them to wipe your screen and get rid of annoying smudges and finger marks.

The Cyclops iPad Case is available online from Accessory Geeks for $34.99 (USD).

Monster unveils Nokia Purity Pro wireless stereo headset

The Nokia Purity Pro wireless stereo headset was first revealed to the masses at IFA 2012 in Berlin, Germany, and just what does it have underneath the hood? Well, we are obviously looking at a wire-free connection to your device, where all music is transferred through the magic of Bluetooth connectivity. The headsets themselves boast of one-touch pairing which will play nice with your smartphone thanks to NFC (Near Fields Communication) technology, although you can always rely on standard Bluetooth pairing.

The Monster-driven Nokia Purity Pro wireless stereo headset will come in red, yellow, white and black colors. The colors that they come in, it does beg the question whether it is a pointer towards the color of future Windows Phone 8 offerings from the Finnish smartphone manufacturer. After all, the Nokia Phi is said to arrive in yellow. (more…)

Nokia’s Purity HD stereo headset by Monster goes Pro, gains Bluetooth, NFC and noise cancellation (update)

Nokia's Purity HD Headset by Monster goes Pro, ditches cord with Bluetooth in the process

If Nokia doesn’t show off at least one banana-hued Lumia smartphone come September 5th, we’re going to be extremely confused. Say howdy to the Pro-monikered followup to its corded Purity HD stereo headset by Monster, which gains Bluetooth (no word on what version), NFC for pairing and active noise cancellation. Similar to its recently revealed PlayUp speaker, the company’s teasing the the Purity HD Pro as an audio accessory that’ll “perfectly match your Lumia” in a choice of black, white, red and yellow. The Pro is essentially identical to its predecessor, but now the folding earcups also serve as a pseudo-on/off switch for its anc functionality for the unit itself. As you might expect, all that tech and Monster branding will cost ya a spendy €299 (about $376) — nearly as much as Parrot’s Zik by Starck. Further details are currently unavailable, except that the cans will reach store shelves near this year’s close.

Update: You’ll find a video hands-on by way of The Nokia Blog here. According a Nokia rep in that video, the earpads have a head detection sensor for automatically enabling ANC (similar to the Zik), while plugging in an included cable will let the headphones function sans Bluetooth. Furthermore, the company also noted to TNB that the battery should last about 24 hours for music or calls, with a week’s worth of life on standby.

501st Legion Builds a Life-sized Rancor Monster, Malakili Cries

There are a lot of huge monsters that I would like to meet in real life, just because they are cool, but the Rancor from Return of the Jedi is not one of them. The Rancor will tear you limb from limb and pick the meat out of it’s teeth with your bones. Still, this life-sized Rancor statue is looking pretty bad-ass.

rancor monsterIf it attacks you, you know what to do. Just pick up a bone from one of it’s previous victims and shove it into it’s mouth. It isn’t smart enough to get it out so it will just get more ticked off. Then pray that there is a heavy gate nearby to drop onto it’s head.

This beast is Roxy the Rancor, a sculpture by the 501st Legion. If you like to poop yourself, it will be unveiled at the upcoming Star Wars Celebration at the end of the month in Orlando, FL. The detail is incredible. Don’t show up in a black Jedi costume. These monsters hate that.
