Mophie OutRide action-cam case for iPhone now available: 170 degrees of Xmas footage for $150

Mophie OutRide action cam case for iPhone 44S available for $150

We took a look at Mophie’s OutRide ruggedized action-cam case back at IFA in August, but the month of December notoriously brings many more photo ops. Perhaps that’s why the company has chosen to announce availability of the case, which sports a lens capable of 170-degree viewing angles, on the cusp of year-end holidays. The waterproof OutRide is available now for $150 — and that price includes a variety of mounts for handlebars, surfboards and helmets. A companion app is a free download from the App Store and lets users edit and share their recorded footage. The OutRide is currently only compatible with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, so those who are gifted Apple’s latest handset will have to sit this one out.

Screen Shot 2012-11-26 at 9.51.29 AM

Short Version

Mophie is best known for doubling your iPhone’s battery life with the Mophie juice pack, but the company actually offers a wide range of iPhone accessories including the Outride Wide-Angle Lens iPhone case and mount kit.

Anyone who’s been interested in action cameras like the GoPro and Looxcie should be especially interested to get almost the exact same functionality out of their phone with this simple accessory pack.

Long Version

Features:

  • Waterproof, shock-proof case
  • Surf, Bike, Car, and other mounts included
  • Integrated wide-angle lens
  • Comes with Outride app (not yet released) for easy sharing

Info:

  • Available in Black and Red or White and Silver
  • For iPhone 4/4S, not iPhone 5
  • Price: $149.95 (App is free)
  • Available: December 4
  • Product Page

The Outride is…

… where iPhone accessories and action cameras intersect. Rather than have you buy an entirely new camera, fortified for action sports with mounts and waterproof casing, the Outride lets you simply use your iPhone camera by slapping it in a mountable water-proof, shock-proof case. The wide-angle lens provides great footage of skateboarding, biking, etc., and the mount kits let you secure this thing to almost anything in your life. There’s also an Outride app that lets users share videos based on categories like Bike, Motorsports, Sky, Skate, etc.

Buy the Outride for…

… the explorer in your life. Anyone who enjoys outdoor activities, extreme sports, or even just a good bike ride should get a kick out of the Outride case. Unfortunately, the Outride camera case is only available for iPhone 4/4S, so don’t make the silly mistake of buying this for a new iPhone 5 owner. It won’t go over that well.

Because…

… anyone who enjoys an adventure wants hard and fast proof of their bravery. That’s why GoPro cameras have become so popular. Not only does the Outride let extremists record proof of their exploits, but it lets them do this on their phone in a safe way, making sharing with friends super easy.

Mophie Powerblu powers its way to the FCC

Mention Mophie and most of us would think of those power packs that give a new lease of life to exhausted smartphone batteries, and there are many variations available for different smartphone models. Well, it seems that extended battery cases are not all that Mophie churns out, as the accessory designer has now introduced its very first Bluetooth-powered headset that is known as the Mophie Powerblu. Just to make sure that it will be prepared for a general release, the Mophie Powerblu has arrived at the FCC. The main point about the Mophie Powerblu is this – it has a separate charging station which will help keep the earpiece going beyond what its internal battery is capable of mustering.

The Bluetooth headset will normally be able to last you for approximately 4 hours of solid talk time, and when you revive it from time to time with the separate charging station, the amount of time that the Mophie Powerblu is capable of lasting in terms of pure talk time will hit a rather impressive 30 hour mark. Other hardware specifications include a noise-cancelling microphone array, text-to-speech and voice commands. No idea on pricing details, but we do look forward to the Mophie Powerblu’s introduction with relish.

Mophie Powerblu Bluetooth headset sneaks through the FCC

There’s apparently more to life for Mophie than power packs, as the accessory designer has pushed its first Bluetooth headset, the Powerblu, through the FCC. In a shock to no one, the stand-out is a separate charging station to keep the earpiece going well past what its internal battery can manage: where the headset normally lasts for four hours of talk on its own, that lifespan grows to 30 when it’s periodically revived through the mothership. Other traits will be familiar to anyone who’s used to wireless earwear, whether it’s a noise-cancelling microphone array, text-to-speech or voice commands. About all that’s left after what we’ve seen is for Mophie to seal the deal with a formal launch.

[Thanks, Dave]

Mophie Unveils Juice Pack for Galaxy S III

It doesn’t matter what brand or model of smartphone you use; odds are the battery won’t last as long as you want it to. If you are using a smartphone on a 4G network, the battery may not last long at all. Mophie has been around for a long time making battery cases for smartphones to extend the run time of your device. The company’s latest offering is one of its Juice Pack smartphone cases for the Samsung Galaxy S III.

The battery inside the case is 2300 mAh and promises to roughly double the run time of your S III. Mophie claims that the phone will get an additional nine hours of talk time, eleven hours of Internet use, or an additional eight hours of video playback.

It also has a USB pass-through that allows the user to charge and sync the phone without removing it from the case. The battery inside the case can be turned off using a toggle switch, and it has LED indicators to show how much power remains. Those indicators can also show how much time is left when charging the case’s battery.

The case is available right now for $99.95(USD) in white with a black version coming later this month.

Mophie unveils new juice pack for Samsung Galaxy S III

Mophie has been making cases with batteries inside for a long time now. The company started out offering battery cases for the iPhone and then moved into offering similar cases for other devices. The company has announced a new juice pack case for Samsung Galaxy S III users.

The case has a 2300 mAh battery inside doubling the talk time and runtime for the smartphone. Mophie promises up to nine hours of additional talk time, up to 11 hours of additional Internet use, and up to 32 hours of additional audio playback. The case is designed to be lightweight and low-profile, to add minimum bulk while doubling the usable life of the phone.

The case features a pass-through USB cord allowing for charging and synchronizing without having to take the phone out of the case. The case also has an on/off toggle switch allowing for standby and charging modes. That switch allows users to turn off the case’s internal battery until it’s needed. The case also has four LEDs on the back to notify the user of how much power is left inside the case.

When charging, those LEDs also indicate how much charge time remains until the battery is ready to go. The case is available in white right now with a black version shipping on November 28. Both colors will sell for $99.95 each.

A Mophie Juice Pack For The Samsung Galaxy S3

This is great news if you’re a Samsung Galaxy S3 user who wants more battery: Mophie, who has been making high quality battery-and-case accessories for the iPhone since the iPhone 3G, has just launched a Mophie Juice Pack for the Samsung Galaxy S3. We thought that Mophie’s iPhone Juice Pack was pretty excellent (if pricey) and we love the Samsung Galaxy S3, so this is a match made in heaven. Even more exciting for SG3 users is what this annoucement portends: Android’s anything-goes model means that premium accessory makers avoid the platform, instead opting for iOS devices which are countable and have a large enough market to support the sunk costs that go into designing an accessory. However, Mophie seems to see an opportunity to snag SG3 users–this could mean that Samsung’s ecosystem is strong enough to encourage more cool accessories.

The Mophie Juice Pack is $99 and comes in black or white.

Mophie unleashes $40 Juice Pack Reserve Micro, charges your smartphone and fits on a keychain

Last we heard from Mophie, it revealed its upcoming Juice Pack case for Samsung’s Galaxy S III. While there’s still no further info for that model, the company recently took to its Facebook and Twitter accounts to announce it’s new $40 Juice Pack Reserve Micro. The palmable battery pack is nearly identical to the 30-pin friendly Juice Pack Reserve, but, as the Micro in its name implies, this one charges Micro-USB devices. The unit features a key chain loop and stores a total load of 1,000mAh, which gets re-filled via its secondary USB 2.0 plug. There’s more info at the source links below — here’s to hoping for a Lightning variant soon.
