MSI Enjoy 71 Tablet

msi enjoy MSI Enjoy 71 TabletI am not quite sure what to make of an entry-level tablet, but there ought to be enough market demand for companies to continue churning out tablets that will not have every single news portal out there scrambling to get first dibs on the news. Well, here we are with the MSI Enjoy 71 that will be a low-cost 7” tablet which is touted to have you fork out approximately $172 after conversion in Taiwan, and it does not seem as though this entry-level tablet will arrive in the US at the moment.

What kind of specifications can we expect? For starters, the 7” display will carry a resolution count of 1024 x 600 pixels, where it will be powered by a 1.5 GHz Amlogic AM8726 dual-core processor and run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the operating system of choice. Well, when you think about it, forking out an extra $30 or so would land you a far cooler Nexus 7 tablet that sports a speedier processor and a more capable display, but the MSI Enjoy 71 does have its fair share of perks like a mini HDMI port and microSD memory card slot. Other hardware specifications include 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory, a 2-megapixel shooter at the back and a front-facing VGA camera.

MSI unveils new budget Enjoy 71 Tablet

MSI has officially unveiled a new budget priced Android tablet featuring a seven-inch display. The tablet is called the MSI Enjoy 71 tablet. Certainly, the best part about this tablet is the low price tipped at €130. Despite the low price, the tablet has some decent hardware features.

msi-enjoy-71

The tablet is said to use a metal enclosure compared to the plastic enclosure that many other tablets in this price range use. The use of the metal enclosure should make the MSI tablet stronger and should make the tablet feel better in your hands than its plastic enclosure brethren. The tablet uses a 1.5 GHz dual-core Amlogic 8762-MX processor.

The processor is based on the ARM Cortex-A9 with graphics handled by a Mali-400 GPU. The tablet is also said to offer 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. Eight GB of internal storage isn’t much. Thankfully the machine also has a microSD card slot supporting up to 32 GB of additional storage.

The seven-inch IPS display has a native resolution of 1024 x 600. The tablet also features a two-megapixel camera on the rear and a 0.3 megapixel front camera. Connectivity includes a micro USB port and a mini HDMI port. Power comes from battery with 3200 mAh of power. The operating system is Android Ice Cream Sandwich, which is really the only disappointing feature for tablet at this price.

MSI Slider S20 Ultrabook convertible coming your way

The evolution of consumer electronics devices are definitely worth following, especially when you consider how the humble mobile phone moved from monochrome displays to color displays, and from MIDI ringtones to MP3 tunes. Well, the world of notebooks are not too different, coming with ever faster processors and better hardware specifications, while losing more in the weight department, too. The natural evolution of Intel-powered notebooks has seen the category of Ultrabooks rise (while the netbook market has more or less will experience its demise this year) to the top of the pile for folks who want adequate processing power on the go while looking uber cool. MSI’s latest offering, the MSI Slider S20 Ultrabook convertible, is here to tempt you to part with your hard-earned cash.

The MSI Slider S20 Ultrabook convertible will deliver a clever mix of portability and performance, boasting a slide-out keyboard that oozes with style, resembling one of the newer generation Sony Ultrabooks as well, running on the Windows 8 operating system and an Intel Core i5 processor. Touted to be the ideal companion for business travelers, students and all of those who want a balance of computing power alongside portability and battery life, the MSI Slider S20 Ultrabook convertible will feature a 16:9 aspect ratio Full HD 10-point touch screen, 8GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD, all crammed into a chassis that tips the scales at 2.2 lbs while measuring under 1” thin.

Andy Tung, vice president of sales for MSI US, said, “Many users prefer the mobility of a tablet, but still need the processing power of an actual laptop computer. MSI’s S20 Ultrabook Convertible solves that problem by combining the best of both worlds, giving users the choice of using it as a tablet or as a laptop.”

Other hardware specifications that has been crammed into the MSI Slider S20 include a Jackson Peak Wireless adapter, Ethernet, a couple of USB 3.0 ports, Bluetooth connectivity, a mini HDMI-out connector and a built-in 720P HD webcam. Expect the MSI Slider S20 to hit the markets sometime in the first quarter of the year for $1,199.99 a pop.

MSI’s Slider S20 Windows 8 convertible gets first quarter release, priced at $1,200

MSI's UltraLight S20 Windows 8 convertible gets first quarter release, priced at $1,200

This year’s Consumer Electronics Show has yet to officially kick off, but that’s not stopping early birds like MSI from getting their news out ahead of the flood. Announced as part of its upcoming showcase, the company’s Slider S20 is the very same Ultrabook we first saw back at Computex 2012 and even recently had hands-on time with, but now there’s official pricing and a semi-concrete release date to accompany it: Q1 2013 for $1,200. True to its name, this 2.2lbs Windows 8 hybrid measures just under 1-inch in thickness and features an 11.6-inch 1,920 x 1,080 10-point multi-touch IPS display, an Intel Core i5 processor, 128GB of SSD storage, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 720p front-facing camera and supports radios for Bluetooth 4.0 , as well as WiFi b/g/n. As for connectivity, the glossy white convertible hosts ports for USB 3.0 (2x), Ethernet, mini HDMI-out and a Jackson Peak Wireless adapter. MSI Slider S20 Ultrabook Convertible Announced

msi slider s20 MSI Slider S20 Ultrabook Convertible AnnouncedIf you want to pamper yourself with a convertible, you can always get one for less than $1,500. No, I am not referring to the kind of convertibles that run on four wheels and send the pulse of the ladies racing as you zip past them in style, as those would definitely not cost such a relatively paltry amount, but rather of the computing variety that comes in the form of the MSI Slider S20 Ultrabook Convertible. Touted to merge a clever blend of portability and performance alongside a slide out keyboard, this Slider S20 will run on Windows 8 and have an Intel Core i5 processor powering it from underneath the hood.

Features of the MSI Slider S20 include a 16:9 1920 x 1080 full HD 10-point touch screen display, 8GB RAM, a 128GB SSD, where all of it is packed into a package that tips the scales at just 2.2 lbs., where it will fold up to measure under 1” thin for lightweight on-the-go computing. Other hardware specifications include a Jackson Peak Wireless adapter, Ethernet, a couple of USB 3.0 ports, Bluetooth connectivity, a mini HDMI-out connector and an integrated 720P HD webcam. Expect to fork out $1,200 for this puppy as it arrives sometime in the first quarter of the year.

I personally think that the keyboard itself is not going to be too comfortable to type for long periods of time, as the sharp edge of the S20 might just “bite” into the palm of your hands. What do you think? Hopefully, the sliding mechanism will be able to hold up for years of use, too. [Press Release]
