TMNT Rafael Soup Mug: Not for Turtle Soup

I lived in New Orleans for a number of years, so I’m actually quite familiar with the taste of turtle soup. It’s actually not bad – mainly because all of the creole seasonings pretty much drown out the flavor of the turtles who gave their lives for the stuff. Frankly I much prefer alligator soup – since it tastes like chicken. From the look of Rafael’s expression on this TMNT soup mug, he’s none to pleased with the idea of turtle soup either.

Raphael would much rather have you fill his oversize 24oz. head-mug with some cream of mushroom, chicken noodle, or maybe even a giant cup of coffee. Actually, he’d really like you to eat some pizza in a cup in it.

Ninja Turtles fans can pre-order the mug over at Entertainment Earth for $9.99(USD), and it should ship sometime this March.

Darth Vector Coffee Mug: I Find Your Lack of Cream and Sugar Disturbing

As evil as Darth Vader was, he’s still one of the greatest characters ever on screen, and certainly worthy of a place in every geek’s home. If you like your coffee like your Dark Lords – black – have I got something for you.

The awesome Darth Vector Mug features a vectorized 3D line art version of Daddy Skywalker, printed onto the side of a bone china coffee cup. Actually, there’s nothing stopping you from drinking tea in it either – except maybe some force lightning. Only 100 of these limited-edition mugs are being made by artist London artist Kane Call, and each one even has a unique number emblazoned in the bottom of the cup.

They’re available over on Etsy for £12.50 ea (~$20 USD), but you’ll pay about the same to have them shipped unless you’re lucky enough to live in the U.K.

Pitfall Mugs Hold 8-Bits of Coffee

When I dust off the old Atari Flashback to play games from the Atari 2600, I realize how crappy most of the games really were. The only games which really stand the test of time are the Activision games, like Kaboom!, River Raid and of course, Pitfall. These games not only featured addictive gameplay, but pushed the graphical and audio envelope for the simplistic, but groundbreaking 8-bit home console.

Now you can reminisce about Pitfall every time you have a cup of joe. Each of these 7.5 oz. porcelain mugs is emblazoned with pixelated image of the killer gators from Activision’s Atari 2600 classic. Of course, you really need to line up three of the mugs in a row to achieve the full effect. That’s okay, JamesBit has you covered, and only sells them in sets of three. I know you like your coffee, so it shouldn’t be a problem for you to down three cups at a time anyhow.

Grab a set of three Pitfall mugs over on Etsy for $23.99(USD). It’s how Pitfall Harry drinks his coffee every morning before going off and fighting giant white scorpions.

Chainmail Beer Stein: Pour Me a Flagon of Mead!

If you are looking for a new mug or stein to drink beer from while you watch Game of Thrones, here it is. This is a stein that Eddard Stark or Jamie Lannister would be proud to gulp their mead from. It is made entirely from chainmail.

You have to be a big tough guy to drink from this since it weighs about 5lbs. and stands 7.5 inches-tall. Every drinking session will be like a workout with this thing. And yes, since it is made of chainmail, your beverage is just going to leak as fast as you pour it in. Though you could just put a pint glass inside of it to solve that minor design flaw.

Besides, it looks great just as a decoration.

Creeper Coffee Mug Is Oddly Square and Oddly Satisfying

Creepers always ruin your hard-earned progress in Minecraft, and it’s time to take revenge.  Don’t be a cotton-headed ninnymuggins, get the Creeper Coffee Mug, which has the face of your (least) favorite Minecraft monster printed on its side.  Whether you enjoy jumping up in fear whenever you look at your coffee mug or if you plant to take a sledgehammer to the thing, everyone at work will appreciate your sense of style, and it’s not because of the skinny tie your wearing.  “But everyone said they liked my skinny tie!”  They also said you looked like Jabba The Hutt when you dressed up as the green lantern last Halloween.

As you can see, the Creeper mug isn’t your typical coffee mug, but it is your typical “captured a Creeper and DRILLED A HOLE THROUGH ITS SKULL TO CREATE A RESERVOIR FOR MY COFFEE.”  While that may be a little harsh at the moment, next time you strike diamond and then get destroyed by a Creeper, revisit your thinking and make another judgement.

You can pick up this wonderfully geeky coffee mug for about $21(USD) in about 3-4 weeks, but you can pre-order it now to ensure your satisfaction in the future.  Not everything involves instant gratification, you know, and patience is a bird-chew.  “Is it?  Is it a bird-chew?”  I believe it is, my friend, I believe it is.  Cleaned it off my windshield yesterday.

Minecraft Mug

You know, there are times when we are truly left wondering just how come some fads actually take off in such a big way, and remain for a long time to come. The same goes with games as well, who would have thought that a title like Minecraft would actually be able to make such a splash, that it has become one of the best selling titles on select platforms as well? If you know that you are a huge fan of Minecraft (or know someone else who is), then perhaps you might want to give the £12.99 Minecraft Mug a go.

Don’t be a miserly square, place a pre-order for one of these ceramic puppies, and you know for sure that each time you take a sip from your Minecraft Mug, it serves as a reminder that at the end of the day, work at the office is going to cease, and you can always retire back home to enjoy more building sessions in Minecraft. In fact, it could even help you daydream of your next Minecraft project, now how about that? This is an officially licensed product, so have no fear of being accused of purchasing a bootleg copy by your jealous peers.

NES Controller Ceramic Mug: Push Start for More Coffee

Due to medical reasons, I’ve recently had to give up one of my favorite vices – caffeine – but I still like to drink the occasional cup of decaf and imagine that it’s the real thing. The next time I break my coffee mug, I know exactly which one I’m going to order.

nintendo mug

This handmade, wheel-thrown ceramic mug is made from white stoneware clay, and is inspired by the classic 8-bit NES gamepad controller. It’s the perfect place for gamers to keep their joe in between rounds of Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros. I just love the dimensional A/B buttons and D-Pad on the side of the mug. I think I’d be trying to push them whenever I picked it up to take a sip.

It was made by Danyelle Butler of ArtHaus Ceramics, with the design by her husband, Jared – a real family effort. If you want one, pop on over to Etsy now, where it can by yours for $24 (USD). I think Danyelle should make a whole series of mugs based on game controllers – though it might be hard to make one based on the Kinect.

CupChair: 360-Degree Panormic Product Shots Made Easy

Have you got a cup? And an iPhone? Then all you need to take decent product panoramas is the CupChair app. It’s definitely an interesting combination of cleverness and usefulness.

cupchair rotaryview 360 product app

RotaryView’s CupChair is a way to make 360° panoramic views of stuff that you want to sell, or just things that you want to scan. You just place your iPhone into a cup or mug, point it at the object you want to create a 360 degree shot of. Then, the app does the rest. You just have to hand-rotate your object and let the app take the photos.

The app generates the 360° images automatically, and provides you with an embed code, which doesn’t yet work with Etsy for some reason, which is too bad since that’d be the perfect venue for such images. You’ll also need to purchase a plan from RotaryView to host your 360° images. It starts at $4.99 per month up to $49 per month or $499 per year, depending on the number of products you’re displaying at a time.

ThermoBuffer is the world’s first thermodynamic coffee mug

Coffee and tea lovers will definitely love to have the perfect cuppa, and there are different ways of preparing your favorite drink due to the kind of beans or tea leaves used, but as for me, I would prefer to leave that to the professionals and drop by my nearest gourmet coffee joint to pay them good money for that perfect blend. The thing is, no matter how perfect that cuppa is, it will still fall prey to the natural law of physics – that is, your beverage of choice inside will get cold, really fast if it happens to be cold around you. How else are you supposed to maintain the right temperature?

I guess since necessity is the mother of all invention, here we are with the ThermoBuffer – where it is touted to be the first thermodynamic coffee mug in the world. Just what does the ThermoBuffer do? Well, it bodes no ill will towards tea lovers, but this is basically a mug that targets coffee lovers, offering perfect temperature control for the best coffee flavor at all times. We will take a closer look at how the ThermoBuffer coffee mug works right after the jump, shall we not?

Basically, the ThermoBuffer will be able to cool your scalding hot coffee faster than any other mug, taking as few as a couple of minutes to do so, and yet it is also able to keep the ideal temperature range for up to three hours, letting you enjoy every single flavor of each and every drop – right down to the last, of course! It is a snap to use, where all you need to do is just pour in your coffee and enjoy.

Right now, the ThermoBuffer is under launch production, where it has a capacity rating of 16 oz. The ThermoBuffer resembles and works the same way as that of a typical stainless steel travel mug, where the magic will automatically happen within the walls of the mug. This triple walled stainless steel mug design comes with the inner chamber that contains a patented buffering layer.

The gap between the inner walls is filled with water, of all things. This layer of water functions as a heat sink which will be able to quickly draw the excess heat out of your fresh coffee whenever it is poured into the mug. As for the outer chamber of the mug, it makes use of vacuum insulation in order to keep it a closed system and maintain the ideal temperature for hours.

This project needs $65,000 to kick start, so you might want to make your contribution today, don’t you think so?

R2-D2 Mug with Lid

You have just got to love Firebox’s tagline for the £14.99 R2-D2 Mug with Lid which goes like this, “I’m thirsty R2, you’re my only hope.” I am quite sure that there are numerous mugs out there in the pantry cabinet, but how many of them are worth having a look at considering the coolness factor of Star Wars is far higher than that of a standard issue porcelain mug? Even if you are not a Star Wars fan, I am quite sure that this particular mug looks good on your desk – after all, who can resist such a cute looking drinking apparatus?

The R2-D2 Mug with Lid’s function is far more limited than his usual repertoire of tricks, as he does not pilot any starships, nor does he carry any secret Imperial documents for the Rebel Alliance to plot their next move – no sir, what he does this time around is plain and simple, to let you sip your favorite beverage (hot or cold, it does not matter as he is made out of some pretty tough stuff) without missing a beat. Made out of high-quality ceramics with sculpted detail and colored glazing, his head functions as a removable lid.
