Ubisoft Highlights Tomb Raider Multiplayer In Latest Dev Diary

It was announced late last month the new Tomb Raider game would have multiplayer for the first time in its franchise history, so you could imagine many gamers were excited about this news and couldn’t wait to hear more about it. Ubisoft knew this and decided to share some videos of Tomb Raider’s multiplayer action in their latest Tomb Raider video diary.

In the latest episode of The Final Hours of Tomb Raider, we’re given a glimpse of the multiplayer in the game as well as some information from producer Joe Kourhy.

Apparently, traps are going to play a big role in the multiplayer mode as not only will you need to be on alert of traps other players have set, but each map will have its own set of traps you’ll need to avoid as well. Also, bows are going to be a big deal as well as it’s been so iconic in the single-player portion of the game, that it had to be brought into them multiplayer. Although, seeing how multiplayer will also have guns, we’re sure not too many people will use the bow unless they’re extremely overpowered.

Tomb Raider Will Feature Multiplayer Modes

Following up on a rumor that we reported yesterday, it looks as though GAME is kicking itself over leaking a huge surprise that was scheduled to be announced in the next issue of Official Xbox Magazine, or OXM. The new Tomb Raider title will have a number of multiplayer modes when it’s released on March 5th.

The confirmation comes from Crystal Dynamics Global Brand Director Karl Stewart as he decided to drop the multiplayer bomb on Twitter today:

“OK, so after all the speculation..yes it’s true. Check out @OXM for all the info on @tombraider’s new multiplayer.”

The only other details that were given regarding the multiplayer modes in Tomb Raider come directly from OXM saying it will have details on “new modes and info on who you’ll be playing as.” Subscribers of OXM should be receiving their February 2013 issue soon and non-subscribers can pick up a copy of the magazine starting January 8th. Until then, we’ll be sure to keep our eyes open for any news regarding the newly confirmed multiplayer modes in Tomb Raider and let you know what you can expect from them.

Minecraft creator shows test footage of '0x10c' space sim, dishes early details video

Gamers have been waiting on tenterhooks for Markus “Notch” Persson’s next offering, titled 0x10c, and while the Minecraft creator has detailed some aspects of the upcoming game, even he’s not sure exactly how it’ll end up. Newly released video footage (after the break) shows a first-person shooter aboard a spaceship, and the creators told PC Gamer that they’d “really like for stuff to go wrong,” so that players can use creativity and resource-gathering, Minecraft-style, to fix it. Persson also said that the ship would contain a fully-programmable 16-bit computer (which sounds a bit like a recent Minecraft mod), and that multiplayer would be added early in the development. Apart from that, though, the team admitted “we don’t know where 0x10c is really headed,” and that they shouldn’t “raise too many people’s expectations.” Based on the rampant speculation so far, it seems like that ship may have already sailed.

mmoAsteroids Makes Asteroid Multiplayer

Multiplayer modes are a big part of today’s games, but what would it have been like if we had an MMO of a classic arcade game back in the day? With mmoAsteroids you can find out. That’s right, you can now play Asteroids as a massively multiplayer online experience. Yes, it does sound intriguing.

The game is a project by Paul Firth, who has been working on it for some time and right now it’s in “pre-alpha” state. That means you can play it right now, but it is by no means complete.

As it stands, the game consists mainly of flying around in your ship, shooting other little ships that are on the opposing team, shooting asteroids, or teaming up to control a large mecha ship. Eventually the plan is to have all kinds of missions and quests, but right now Firth is hoping to make some money so he can continue to finish it. So you can buy special skins for your ship too, if you want to customize it. With every little purchase, you are helping to finish the game.

Halo 4 Multiplayer to require at least 8GB of storage

Halo 4 is one of the most anticipated games of the 2012. While some fans cannot wait for the new campaign, most are just excited for the addicting Halo multiplayer they all know and love  and what new features it will have to offer. Unfortunately, the requirements for Halo 4 multiplayer have been released today by Xbox, and if you are a little short on storage you better start clearing up your hard drive.

To play the multiplayer version, you’ll need at least 8GB of free space to enjoy the game. If you have the 4GB model of the Xbox 360, don’t worry as you can use your own USB drive or the official XBOX 360 USB flash drive (by SanDisk). To play the game at the highest level, it is highly recommended that you invest in a hard drive if you do not already have one built into your 360 console.

You can purchase the official Xbox 360 Media Drive for that extra space. It comes with 320GB of space and also comes with Lego Star Wars III pre-loaded onto the hard drive. All this extra space will set you back $130. Extra space is definitely helpful on any 360 console, especially with games that have large save files such as Skyrim(and to download the new Dawnguard DLC). Let us know if you are excited for the new Halo 4 and if yes have you already pre-ordered it? Halo 4 will be released on November 6th 2012.
