C-3PO Electric Guitar Made from Action Figure Case

Poor 3PO. He was never as popular as R2 and he never will be. At least someone thought enough of the prissy protocol droid to make an electric guitar out of his action figure collectors case.

Everyone knows the Darth Vader collector’s case, but not as many people had the C-3PO version because, well because no one seems to like him. Though his action figure case makes a great body for an electric guitar once you ad a neck and strings. The case still opens up and it even talks. C-3PO says three different phrases. That’s a little disappointing since he’s supposed to be fluent in over six million forms of communication.

How the Electric Guitar Was Invented

How the Electric Guitar Was Invented

For as far back as we are able to look into the prehistory of the human race, music has been a crucial part of the life of humans. Some scholars even speculate that human music may have come before language. From the beginning, people living in little groups sang and danced to self-made music. Drums and pipes were readily developed, and even today they can be found in use, still often hand-made, in every culture anywhere in the world where simple communities gather for group celebrations.

These Prodigious Synthesizers Make Music Using 300-Year-Old Rules

It’s been almost three centuries since Bach wrote The Well-Tempered Clavier, a simple set of compositions that became definitive in music theory. J.S. probably would’ve been surprised—but delighted—by the work of Luisa Pereira, who has translated some of his rules into the most modern form imaginable: The sequencer.

Even the Tone Deaf Can Rock Out on This Self-Playing Harmonica

The harmonica is already a bit of a beginners instrument. Even if you just blow through the thing, you’ll get notes that are all in the same key. A listenable mess. This “Rolmonica” from 1928 makes it even easier by playing the right notes for you; all you have to do is blow. More »

This awesome, handcrafted string instrument is sure to get a rise out of anyone with a fear of sharks, and is perfect for playing the familiar Jaws “dun-dun… dun-dun… dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun…” theme music (assuming you can play that on a ukulele.)

jaws ukulele 2

The ukulele’s body has been cut in the shape of a great white shark emerging from the water, and then adorned with a multitude of big, pointy teeth. The little image of the lady in the innertube is a nice touch on the head of the uke too.

Griffin's MIDIConnect now available at $80 to make beautiful music with your iDevice

Inspiration can strike from anywhere, and now you can use a proper musical instrument to channel it with MIDIConnect, available from Griffin Technology for $80. The unit allows you to twang, pluck or tickle a MIDI instrument on the go directly into GarageBand and other iOS music apps, and also reverses the flow — allowing your Cupertino device to send a MIDI signal and become keys, drums or a guitar itself. For hygiene’s sake, however, we probably wouldn’t take our portable composing quite as far as the video below the break shows.
