It has been a while since BlackBerry launched any new devices, the last smartphone to come out of Waterloo was the Z30, which was basically an enlarged version of the Z10. The company’s hardware division hasn’t been able to produce a hit for quite some time now, but with the new leadership taking charge a few months back, there are once again signs of a possible comeback. BlackBerry has reiterated its commitment to devices multiple times, and its expected to launch at least two high end devices in 2014. Photos of an alleged BlackBerry 10 prototype with a full QWERTY keyboard have leaked, presumably hinting at what’s to come from the ailing Canadian manufacturer.

It was back in September last year when Samsung launched its first smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear. Since then there have been many reports of dismal sales, which have apparently forced the company’s hand to launch a successor after just six months. Previously it was rumored that a new Galaxy Gear will be launched alongside Galaxy S5 at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona later this week. However, sources familiar with the company’s plans tell The Verge that its likely Samsung will unveil multiple models of its smartwatch at the industry’s biggest event.

Devices that aren’t specifically developed to be immune to the elements can suffer damage at the hands of water and dust. Though those days are long gone when customers didn’t exactly have the option to purchase a device that could withstand the elements. Samsung already offers a similar version of the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy S4 Active. Rumor has it though that the Galaxy S5 itself will be water and dust proof, essentially eliminating the need for another such variant altogether.

We first started hearing rumors about the LG G2 mini back in December, and since then there has been much chatter about the device. Only recently LG teased it on its Facebook page, hinting at an imminent unveiling. It was believed that LG G2 mini will presumably be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2014, but it appears that the company has decided to do so a bit early. The LG G2 mini is now official, it brings toned-down specifications in a shell that resembles its sibling, the powerful LG G2.

The Nokia Normandy/Nokia X is pegged for a possible announcement at MWC 2014, and so far based on what we know about the handset, the device is definitely not Nokia’s most powerful smartphone to date. Heck, amongst its Android peers it’s not even that powerful and would be considered to be a low-end device. In fact according to the rumors, the Normandy will be packing a 5MP rear-facing camera, and yes while we know that megapixels do not define a good photo, a 5MP camera is hardly considered marketing material.

For those who were hoping otherwise, sorry to disappoint but as it turns out, the Nokia Normandy will feature a 5MP camera after all. This is thanks to a sample photo that was taken by a certain Nokia A110, which is reportedly the model number for the Nokia Normandy/Nokia X. Based on its EXIF data, it has been revealed that the handset will indeed pack a 5MP sensor, but hopefully where it lacks in megapixels, it will make up with in great software and image quality, which to be honest is really what everyone wants from their cameras. The EXIF data has also revealed the camera’s aperture to be f/2.65 which isn’t exactly the brightest, so don’t expect anything amazing when it comes to low-light situations. Either way be sure to check back with us during MWC 2014 where hopefully all the details will be revealed.
