Another Alleged Galaxy S5 Render Spotted

Another Alleged Galaxy S5 Render SpottedA few days ago, an alleged render of the Samsung Galaxy S5 made its way online. There is no telling if the render was real or a fake, but it did offer us an insight as to what we might be able to expect from Samsung. Now thanks to a new render posted by Move Player, another render of the Samsung Galaxy S5 has popped up online, this time showing a more “complete” look and comparing it alongside the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy S4. Given that Move Player has been pretty reliable in the past when it comes to leaks and rumors, there’s always the off-chance that this could simply be a fan-made rendering rather than the real deal, so don’t get your hopes up just yet.

However assuming this is the real deal, it looks like Samsung will be making the Galaxy S5 more square-ish compared to its predecessors. Samsung had initially taken the sharp-edged design with the Galaxy S2, but with the Galaxy S3, Samsung had decided to go for a more curved look which was slowly sharpened with the Galaxy S4, and with the Galaxy S5, it seems that Samsung could be returning to its Galaxy S2 roots with the design. The rendering looks pretty sleek, we’ll have to admit, and based on what we can see, it also appears to be thinner than its predecessor, which once again is hardly a surprise. Like we said there’s no telling if this render is the real deal, but if it were, what do you guys make of the design?

Nokia Lumia 630 Reportedly Undergoing Testing

Nokia Lumia 630 Reportedly Undergoing TestingAccording to a recent Snapchat post by Nokia, word has it that the company could be making an announcement in time for Valentines Day. The code in the Snapchat message seemed to suggest that Nokia might announce the Lumia 630 which has been rumored for a while now, and now thanks to a sighting on India’s Zauba record, it looks like the handset is currently undergoing testing in the country and could be getting primed for an announcement in the near future, where if it will not be announced on Valentines Day, it will probably be announced at MWC 2014 which seems to contradict rumors that no new Lumia devices will be announced then.

In any case according to the alleged specifications of the Lumia 630, the handset appears to be a budget device and will not necessarily pack the latest or most powerful hardware. It will sport a 4.5-inch display and a resolution of 854×480, which is pretty low by today’s standards as HD displays appear to be the standard when it comes to low-mid ranged devices. It will also feature dual-SIM support, 3G, and will come with Windows Phone 8.1 preinstalled. As today is Valentines Day, we will be keeping our eyes peeled for more information, so do check back with us later to see if there are additional details to be had.

BlackBerry Jakarta Specs Revealed On Geekbench

BlackBerry Jakarta Specs Revealed On GeekbenchAs some of you guys might have heard by now, BlackBerry announced last year that they would be teaming up with Foxconn for the next five years in which they will create devices aimed at emerging markets. One of these devices, called the Jakarta, is said to debut at MWC 2014. The specifications of the device remain unknown, but according to rumors, the handset will not sport a physical QWERTY keyboard which has become a signature look for BlackBerry, but will instead sport a full touchscreen display instead. Now thanks to a Geekbench report, additional hardware specifications of the BlackBerry Jakarta might have been revealed.

According to the report, the Jakarta could feature a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon Plus chipset clocked at 1.19GHz. It will also pack an Adreno 305 GPU under the hood along with 1.5GB of RAM. It also appears to run on BlackBerry OS 10.2.1 which was released not too long ago. Apart from that, additional information such as display size, resolution, camera, and onboard storage are something of a mystery. Like we said earlier, BlackBerry and Foxconn’s efforts will be aimed at emerging markets which might explain why this particular handset does not appear to be too impressive, but we suppose should be good enough to get the job done and then some. Either way hopefully we will learn more about BlackBerry’s future products at MWC 2014, so check back with us then for the details.

Huawei Ascend D3 Rumored For MWC 2014 Launch

Huawei Ascend D3 Rumored For MWC 2014 LaunchBack in 2013, Huawei unveiled the Ascend D2 which was the company’s flagship device at that time, which has us wondering if Huawei might announce its successor, the Ascend D3 this year? Perhaps at MWC 2014? Well according to the latest rumors, the answer is yes, Huawei could be set to debut the Ascend D3 at MWC 2014 which will be taking place towards the end of the month, but given that this is a rumor, you should probably try not to get your hopes up. However as we will be live at the event ourselves, do check back with us then to see if there are any Huawei-related news to be had.

So what can one expect from the Ascend D3? If the rumors are to be believed, Huawei’s 2014 flagship smartphone could pack the company’s in-house produced Kirin 920 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.8GHz, although this is not a “true” octa-core per se, but will be based on ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture that is similarly used in Samsung’s Exynos 5 series of octa-core chipsets as well. Aside from the possible octa-core processor, other rumored features of the Huawei Ascend D3 include a 5-inch Full HD display, a 16MP rear-facing camera, and a metal back. As it stands there are other Huawei devices rumored for MWC 2014, such as the Ascend P7 and Huawei’s alleged smartwatch.

Is Nokia Turning Green For Android?

Is Nokia Turning Green For Android?By now we’re sure everyone is probably aware that Nokia has an Android phone in the works that would most likely see an announcement at MWC 2014. Dubbed the Nokia Normandy/Nokia X, it has been generating a fair amount of interest simply due to the fact that Nokia is on the verge of being acquired by Microsoft, so releasing/announcing an Android phone is definitely an interesting move. That being said, Nokia’s social media pages such as Facebook and Twitter have undergone a new color scheme – green, which many have begun to speculate could be Android-related.

This is because the Android mascot s typically shown in green, and while the green might not necessarily be the same green as the mascot, it is one of the many shades of green which has some speculating that Nokia could be gearing up for its Normandy announcement. Interestingly enough the changes to the color scheme were made today ahead of Valentines Day where Nokia supposedly has an announcement that might be related to the Nokia Lumia 630/Moneypenny, so we’re not sure if the change in color scheme might have something to do with that announcement or if it is simply in preparation for MWC 2014. What do you guys think?

Sony Xperia D5103 Spotted In Benchmarks

Sony Xperia D5103 Spotted In BenchmarksSony’s upcoming flagship handset, the Sony Xperia Z2, is expected to be a high-end affair, packing the best hardware possible into the device. At the same time it looks like Sony might have some low-end devices as well which might appeal to those who are tight on cash or who simply need a smartphone and don’t necessarily need all the bells and whistles attached. Dubbed the D5103, this particular Sony handset was recently spotted in the GFX Benchmark database where based on its specs, it looks like it has similar hardware to that of the Moto G, although whether it will share the same low price point remains to be seen.

So what can we expect from the Sony D5103? Well for starters it appears to feature a 720p HD display, although the exactly display size remains unknown. In a market where Full HD 1080p is the standard and where QHD is becoming more commonplace, it definitely leaves something to be desired. It also appears to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset clocked at 1.4GHz, making a tiny bit faster than the Moto G’s 1.2GHz processor. The Sony D5103 will also come with Android 4.4 KitKat preinstalled, which is good news as having the latest operating system is always a good thing. No word on RAM, storage, camera, and additional features, but perhaps we will learn more at MWC 2014, so check back with us then for the details!

Nokia Normandy Gets Priced In Vietnam

Nokia Normandy Gets Priced In VietnamIt is widely believed that Nokia could announced the Nokia Normandy/Nokia X at MWC 2014, which in itself is surprising given that Nokia is close to being acquired by Microsoft, with Microsoft being one of Android’s rivals with its own Windows Phone operating system. That being said, it looks like one Vietnamese online retailer might have gotten ahead of themselves when they have listed the handset on their website and had attached a price tag to it as well. According to the listing, the price of the Nokia Normandy, or Nokia X A110 as it is supposedly known commercially, is at around $110 after conversion.

However it looks like the retailer might simply be speculating as they have put in its status that the handset has not yet been officially announced, so all the specs you’re seeing above and its price could simply be the result of guesswork and could also be based on the rumors that we have been hearing about so far. The handset has been gaining a fair amount of attention recently, and for those unfamiliar, the Nokia Normandy was allegedly an experiment by Nokia to see what they could do with the Android platform, and it was initially thought to be a prototype and nothing more. But as time went on, the rumors started claiming that the device could be made into a reality and last we heard, Nokia is apparently not stopping there.

No New Nokia Lumia Devices At MWC 2014 [Rumor]

No New Nokia Lumia Devices At MWC 2014 [Rumor]At MWC 2014, we guess many are expecting Nokia to announce new handsets, such as the Nokia Normandy/Nokia X. Well as it turns out, that might be the only handset Nokia has in store for us come MWC 2014, at least that’s what the folks at NPU claim. According to them, they have received a tip in which they were informed that there will not be any new Nokia Lumia handsets announced a MWC, leaving us with the possibility that only the Nokia Normandy will be the handset on show. This is in spite of the fact that we have heard rumors that Nokia could unveil devices like the Lumia 930, 630, and 635.

Alternatively Nokia has recently sent out a Snapchat teaser image suggesting that the Finnish company could announce something on Valentines Day, so perhaps Nokia could make several Lumia announcements ahead of MWC 2014, leaving the event only for the Nokia Normandy. Either way it does seem a little odd that Nokia might not be announcing many devices at MWC 2014, but since this is hardly official information, let’s try not to read too much into this for now. We will be live at MWC 2014 ourselves, so you can check back with us then for the details.
