Chinese manufacturers of smartphones are starting to be a force to be reckoned with, and I am quite sure that in due time, some of them might even be the next Samsung or LG. Don’t laugh at this statement – I am quite sure that there were plenty of naysayers in the past that looked at Samsung when it first rolled out its mobile phones, and never really thought that it would be a world leader one day, let alone in the realm of consumer electronics. Stranger things have definitely happened in the past which could serve as a template for the future. There has been no shortage of rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S5. The company’s 2014 flagship is expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona later this month. While Samsung hasn’t said anything about the Galaxy S5 specifications up till now, we’ve already formed an idea of what to expect based on the plethora of rumors that have constantly trickled in. The latest round of alleged specifications comes from a major South Korean brokerage firm, KDB Daewoo Securities.

Galaxy S5 builds up on its predecessor, the Galaxy S4

The new year is well underway and we’re excited for all the amazing new technology that will be released in the coming months. For the past few weeks there has been an endless stream of rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S5, the Korean manufacturer’s next generation flagship smartphone. Last year it was rumored that perhaps Samsung will release this device earlier than originally planned to make up for disappointing Galaxy S4 sales, which is probably why it is believed that Galaxy S5 will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2014 next month. Last year, despite rumors, Galaxy S4 was absent from MWC 2013. It was unveiled on March 14th. While the release date might not be confirmed, this is probably the right time to craft together a Galaxy S5 rumor roundup, just so you’re up to speed on what to expect from the next flagship.

HTC M8 will carry the baton from the all metal HTC One

HTC’s 2013 flagship, the HTC One, was very well received. It was loved for its all metal build, which gave the smartphone a premium feel as well as a leg up on its rivals that stuck with plastic and polycarbonate. The design and build coupled with the software tweaks by HTC really made the One a bonafide high-end Android smartphone. It might not have done wonders for the company’s balance sheets, but it certainly intrigued consumers, who will no doubt be wondering HTC comes up with this year. A few months ago we heard that the company was developing a new flagship under the codename M8. This is believed to be the One’s successor, and its possible that HTC might unveil it at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona next month. Last year, the HTC One was unveiled on February 19th, before being showcased at MWC 2013 a week later.
