LG Optimus F7 and Optimus F5 get a pre-MWC outing in leaked images

LG Optimus F7 and Optimus F5 get a preMWC outing in leaked images

LG was all about the tease yesterday, with its mysterious, alphabetic MWC warm-up video. Today, the covers have potentially been unceremoniously whipped off from at least two of the forthcoming offerings. The ever fruitful evleaks comes up with the goods again, and claims that what you see are the Optimus F7 (left) and Optimus F5 (right). There’s little to go on specification-wise, other than these are undoubtedly Android devices, with a design language not quite in keeping with the recently spotted Optimus G Pro behemoth. So, while you try to join the dots on what might be underneath those displays, we’ll keep an eye out for any remaining L-series and V-for Vu “surprises.”

LG Teases Possible L, G, V And F-series For MWC 2013

We’re sure that many of you guys are excited to see what sort of new and exciting products will be unveiled at MWC 2013, and fret not because we will be there covering the event. However in the meantime, if you’re a fan of LG, it looks like the South Korean company has decided to release a teaser video in which they are hinting at the possibility of several new phones. These phones could be adopting the L, G, V and F monikers, or they might be part of a lineup. Either way we’ve heard of the L-series, the G-series (Optimus G Pro, for example), and the V-series (possibly hinting at the Vu), but the F-series would definitely be something new. At this time it’s hard to tell if these phones will be high-end devices or low-mid ranged offerings, but either way it will be worth checking out, so stayed tuned for more updates! In the meantime you can check out the teaser video above.

LG teases several new smartphones for MWC, is brought to you by the letters G, L, V and F

LG teases its MWC showing again the tagline is tags

LG isn’t done making vague hints at what it’s got in store for us in Barcelona next week. While we admittedly missed it on our first viewing, the latest trailer flies past several red initials and vague glimpses of four handsets. There’s an L (style?), a G (greatness), one V (view, or Vu) and a new one, F, that apparently stands for freedom. In short, it looks like LG might be bringing quite a few phones to the show. The short video also places plenty of emphasis on tags, which we’re guessing will involve some NFC tech — possibly expanding on those “Tag On” stickers we saw announced at CES last month. We just wish the message was as loud and clear as the music in the teaser. You’ve been warned.

Mysterious Nokia Lumia Device Spotted In Lumia 920 Ad

We’re definitely curious as to what Nokia will be bringing to the table come MWC 2013, but until then we guess we will just have to be patient and hope that leaks and hints clue us in on what to expect. In any case the folks at My Nokia Blog have spotted a mysterious looking Nokia device in an advertisement meant to showcase the Lumia 920 on Dutch carrier, KPN. Based on what we saw in the video (embedded above and around the 0:05 mark), this particular device features curved edges which is definitely not of the Lumia 920’s design. Instead it appears to be something of a combination between the Lumia 822 and the Lumia 620, suggesting that perhaps this mystery device could be another budget Windows Phone offering by the Finnish company. Either way with the Lumia 920 currently being Nokia’s flagship smartphone, we doubt that they will be introducing a new flagship device so soon, but we guess we will just have to wait and see. We will be at MWC 2013 so be sure to check back with us then for all the live coverage of the latest news!

LG Optimus G Pro Officially Has a 5.5-inch Display

LG Optimus G Pro Officially Has a 5.5 inch Display

Although the Japanese version of the LG Optimus G is already on the market, the world was eagerly awaiting for some certainty as for the International version, and the U.S version will most likely be derivatives of that one. First of all the LG Optimus G Pro is officially a “Phablet”, thanks to its huge 5.5″ 1080p (full HD) IPS Display. From a processor standpoint, the Optimus G Pro will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro just like its predecessor. There’s 2GB  of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (no microSD, sorry). There’s one more bit of good news: the battery will stand at 3140mAh and that should provide enough room for power users to play with.

We’ve been quite enthusiastic about the LG Optmus G, and so far, it seems that the Optimus G Pro improves where it was needed the most, namely the display quality (1080p) and the larger battery. The 5.5″ size is welcome for folks (like me) who like the comfort of a large display. This will raise the bar for the upcoming Nexus Phone…

As you may have seen, LG has also announced lower-end LG Optimus L Series II smartphones yesterday, with the LG L5II, L3II and L7II. All handsets should be on display at Mobile World Congress in a couple of weeks. [LG site, in Korean]

LG reveals Optimus L Series II, dual-SIM L7II is the first to launch

LG reveals Optimus L Series II, dualSIM L7II is the first to launch

As usual, LG can’t wait for the show to start to display its latest phones and is previewing the Optimus L Series II line ahead of MWC 2013. Just like its predecessors, the L Series II will come in a variety of sizes, with a 3.2-inch L3II, 4.0-inch L5II and 4.3-inch L7II on the way. According to LG, the second coming of the L Style adds Seamless Layout, Laser Cut Contour, Radiant Rear Design and Smart LED Lighting (the button at the bottom has a lighted edge) design elements to the beauty of the original phones. Other than screen size, the different versions will also feature different batteries, ranging from 2,460mAh in the largest to 1,540mAh in the smallest.

The L7II will be first to launch and has the most details, with specs listing a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8225 CPU, up to 4GB internal storage, 768MB RAM and a microSD slot, plus WVGA IPS screen and 8MP rear / VGA front camera setup. The dual-SIM version seen in earlier leaks will debut in Russia this week with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board, availability for the other new phones will be announced later. The full rundown of new features and a pair of pictures are after the break, while you check those we’ll keep an eye out for any more surprises from LG before the show floor opens in Barcelona.

Asus Fonepad To Debut At MWC 2013?

Asus Fonepad To Debut At MWC 2013?It seems that Asustek, or Asus for short, will be taking the opportunity to announce their upcoming 7-inch tablet known as the Fonepad at Mobile World Congress that is happening later this month in Barcelona, Spain. Well, just what kind of features and functions does the Asus Fonepad bring to the table? This 7-inch tablet will run on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system right out of the box, and it will also come with voice communication functions to boot.

Some of the other hardware specifications will include an Intel Atom Z242 processor, an IPS touchscreen display at 1,280 x 800 resolution, 16GB RAM and 1GB ROM, a 3-megapixel camera at the back, as well as connectivity options such as 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, not to mention GPS support to help you find your way around in unfamiliar territory. So far, initial impressions point to a price tag that hovers between the $270 and $300 mark after conversion, which would surely allow Asus to position the Fonepad as a Nexus 7 and MeMo Pad rival.

Google Says No To Official Android Booth At MWC 2013

Google Says No To Official Android Booth At MWC 2013As rich as Google is, it is nice to know that the company remains prudent in their spending. Case in point? The Internet search giant has said that they will no longer host an official Android booth over at this year’s Mobile World Congress that will be held in Barcelona, Spain, later this year. Previous editions of MWC saw Google’s awesome Android booth, where it boasted of slides and smoothie bars (frozen yogurt just to get a better idea), alongside everything else that has a ‘fun’ factor attached to Google’s mobile operating system. Well, bummer for 2013, as Google France has confirmed that they will no longer set up an official Android booth for this year’s edition.

Still, members of the Android team from Google will still make a beeline for MWC as a show of support to Android’s partners. Google France’s straight reply when approached about Android’s presence at MWC? “I can confirm that indeed […] we will not have a booth at MWC this year. However, the Android team will be present in Barcelona to support its partners”.

LG teases ‘new series’ of mobile phones with ‘unexpected distinction,’ remains indistinct

LG teases 'new series' of mobile phones, not much else

Offering up its Facebook fans a loving wrapped teaser image, LG Mobile reckons it’s got something up its sleeve. On the social network entry, it notes that the new series will have an “unexpected distinction”, which is hopefully more than just a baffling screen ratio. Will it be ready for MWC in a few weeks? Or will the company go the way of other smartphone makers and just launch whatever it has at its very own event? Who knows? LG does, that’s who.
