Just last week, California created a law that would classify “revenge porn” as a criminal misdemeanor, and it looks like New York lawmakers also want to make a stand against this kind of thing. As the United Nations wrapped up its 68th General Assembly last week, a major piece of news nearly slipped under the radar: Designs for the UN Consolidation Tower, a 36-story building that will flank the headquarters like an eager little brother, housing almost 3,000 employees. But besides offering much-needed emergency overflow space, this new building could end up making the UN more secure as a whole.

We know how difficult it can be to completely ignore your cell phone while your driving as no matter how often we’re told not to text and drive, people seem to do it regardless of the warnings. A number of states have already passed legislations to help combat those who continue to text and drive, although New York will begin introducing “Text Stops” along its major highways and thruways. It can be scary to get a CT scan, whether you are an adult or a kid. God only knows what that radiation is doing to you. What if you end up like the Hulk? To ease the fears of children who need to endure a trip through the machine, New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital is one place to go.
They are one of the largest children’s hospitals in the country and so they felt it was up to them to make sure they were administering the lowest doses of radiation possible to the kids, so they picked up one of GE’s Adventure Series CT scanners – this one in a pirate theme. (They also make jungle, underwater, summer camp and space themed scanners.)
In addition to the scanner, the entire scanning suite is pirate-themed. Arrrr! Let’s all do it. Free scans on me! Wait. How much? Okay, everybody just enjoy the images. On me.

Though you and I are only familiar with a single MTA map, dozens of other maps have attempted to make the NYC subway, er, reasonably comprehensive over the years. It’s hard to imagine that the 1, 2, and 3 lines weren’t always red, or that the L was once known as the "16 Line," which is what makes these old maps so fun to peruse.

In 1964, sci-fi legend Isaac Asimov penned a piece for the New York Times with his predictions for the world of 2014. Looking at the World’s Fair of 50 years hence, Asimov imagined 3D TV, underground cities, and colonies on the moon. Many people online have hailed this as an incredible example of prescient thinking, but what sticks out to me is just how shockingly restrained—unoriginal, even—his predictions were for the time.
