Sony A6000 Replaces The NEX-7, According To Sony Presentation Slide

Sony A6000 Replaces The NEX 7, According To Sony Presentation SlideWe have been hearing rumors about how the Sony NEX-7 camera would be getting a successor, although the question is, has its successor already been revealed? Earlier in February, Sony announced the A6000 which was supposed to be an in-between camera for the Sony NEX-5T and the Sony A65, but as it turns it the camera might actually be a replacement for the NEX-7.

This is according to a recent Sony presentation (pictured in the photo above) obtained by the folks at Winandmac which points at the A6000 replacing the NEX-7 as far as Sony’s cameras are concerned. In fact the camera is being ranked the same as the NEX-7 which is surprising given that the specs are different and that the camera is a lot more affordable as well. (more…)

Sony NEX-7 Successor Rumored For Early 2014 Announcement

Sony NEX 7 Successor Rumored For Early 2014 AnnouncementAccording to Sony Alpha Rumors’ sources, it seems that come early 2014 there is a very good chance that we will be seeing the Sony NEX-7’s successor. Given that CP+ in Japan is taking place mid-February, the publication believes that we could see the device announced around that time. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but if you loved the NEX-7 and are wondering what sort of improvements Sony might have made with its successor, be sure to check back with us then for the details.

We have been hearing rumors about a possible NEX-7 successor since back in 2012 where the camera was rumored for a 2013 release, but given that we’re almost at the end of 2013 with no NEX-7 to show for it, safe to say those rumors did not pan out. It had been suggested that the “delay” could be due to production issues, while other reports claim that Sony’s new CEO was more interested in releasing cameras with innovative new features as opposed to mere incremental upgrades, which has usually been the case for several years now. Either way we’ll just have to keep an eye out for more details, but in the meantime what sort of features would you guys like to see in the NEX-7’s successor?

Sony NEX-7 Out Of Stock In Some Stores, Successor Imminent?

Sony NEX 7 Out Of Stock In Some Stores, Successor Imminent? We’ve been hearing a lot of rumors about Sony launching a full-frame NEX camera, which supposedly will be the successor to the NEX-7. The camera has been pegged for a late September announcement and it seems that in the meantime, it looks as though the Sony NEX-7 has been out of stock in most Sony stores, suggesting that perhaps we could indeed be looking at its successor very soon. The stock seems to have run out in Sony Europe’s stores, such as Sony Germany, Sony France, and Sony Italy, so there is also the possibility that perhaps only these regions are the ones who are out of stock and could be getting new ones later, assuming that the full-frame Sony NEX rumor falls flat on its face. In any case we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more info, but with a September announcement rumored, we won’t have to wait too long to see if it will pan out.

Sony NEX-7n Rumored For May Release

Sony NEX 7n Rumored For May ReleaseYou might have heard some rumors about the Sony NEX-7n, the alleged successor to the NEX-7 mirrorless camera. You might have also heard that according to previous rumors, the camera has been delayed from its purported April announcement. However according to the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors, they claim to have gotten a tip which has suggested that the Sony NEX-7n, while missing its April announcement, could instead be announced and possibly released in May! Given that May is less than a month away, we guess the delay wasn’t as long as we had initially thought, assuming that the rumors are true of course.

Sony Alpha Rumors did state that the May date is still not a 100% confirmation, so take it with a grain of salt for now. Their source went on to reveal that the NEX-7n would feature a 3.8 million dot EVF, which apparently works by layering two OLEDs with 1.9 million dots each on top of each other. Sounds interesting and promising, but will it be able to live up to expectations? We guess we will have to wait and find out.

Sony NEX-7n Announcement Could Be Delayed For A Couple Of Months

Sony NEX 7n Announcement Could Be Delayed For A Couple Of MonthsRemember we reported that according to rumors, the Sony NEX-7n, successor the NEX-7, would be delayed. Rumored for an announcement in April, it’s hard to be bummed out by news of a delay over a product that may or may not exist. In any case for those wondering what could be the issue, the folks at Sony Alpha Rumors claim that according to their source, the reason for the delay was due to none other than Sony’s CEO, Kazuo Hirai, himself who pushed for a change in the E and A mount roadmap. Of course since Sony has never actually confirmed this, we suggest you take this with a grain of salt for now, although we guess it’s not a complete stretch of the imagination. In the meantime for those looking forward to the NEX-7n, their sources have also gone on to reassure them that the camera will be announced within a couple of months. That seems like a pretty long wait from April, but we guess that’s all we have to work with at the moment.

Additional Sony NEX-7n Specs Revealed, Rumored For April Announcement

Additional Sony NEX 7n Specs Revealed, Rumored For April AnnouncementThe Sony NEX-7 is currently the highest priced NEX camera in Sony’s portfolio, although if the rumors of the NEX-9 are true, then it would be the second-most expensive. According to Sony Alpha Rumors, they have managed to dig up additional information about the NEX-7n and according to their sources, they believe that an announcement for the NEX-7n could be made in early April, and for those who can’t wait to get their hands on it, it is expected to be stocked in May. So what sort of (rumored) specs are we talking about here?

For starters like earlier rumored, the NEX-7n is expected to sport a new 24MP APS-C sensor with a ½ stop improvement and increased dynamic range. It will also feature a 3.8 million dot EVF, a massive improvement over the NEX-7, a touchscreen LCD display, hybrid contrast and phase detection AF, WiFi capabilities and it should be around the same size as the current NEX-7 but with a slight redesign. No word on how much the rumored NEX-7n will cost, but we expect it should be priced around the same as the NEX-7 when it first launched.
