Over the past few months we have heard many rumors of what to expect from Apple in 2014. The company is rumored to release new iPhones, iPads as well as a wearable device this year. Its iOS powered devices might be powered by an A8 chip, and rumor has it that Apple has already started tapping suppliers who will supply the package-over-package system-on-chip, which basically means that the processor and mobile DRAM will be joined together into one single package.

Lines Already Forming Outside Apple’s Fifth Avenue Store In New York

Lines Already Forming Outside Apples Fifth Avenue Store In New York

It has sort of become a yearly tradition for a number of Apple enthusiasts to line up outside the company’s retail stores days before a new iPhone is to be released. It started after the first iPhone, which was released back in 2007, became a hit. We’ve seen lines forming up outside Apple Stores all around the world even for new iPads. Apple’s biggest update to its smartphone lineup is expected this year, for the first time ever it is expected to unveil two new iPhones together. Some enthusiasts have already formed a line outside Apple’s iconic Fifth Avenue retail store in New York.

The line has formed up two days before Apple takes the stage to officially acknowledge that the new iPhones do exist. That doesn’t mean the new iPhones will be released that very day. These campers might have to wait for more than one week or give up their spots because Apple is expected to start selling the new smartphones 10 days after the announcement has taken place, on September 20th. Even if only four people have lined up right now, we can expect the lines to substantially grow when the release date comes near. If these four hold their places, they’ll be first in and first out with their new iPhones. As they say, the early bird gets the worm. [Image via AppleInsider]

iPhone 5S Fingerprint Sensor Hinted Again By Purported Flex Cable

iPhone 5S Fingerprint Sensor Hinted Again By Purported Flex Cable

Rumors about the iPhone 5S having a fingerprint sensor have been circulating for a long time, there hasn’t been a confirmation as yet. Apple is going to announce the new iPhone on September 10th, so we’ll know for sure then. A couple of days ago a purported home button flex cable believed to belong to the iPhone 5S was leaked. It showed off a square surface that isn’t present on the same component for iPhone 5, this fueled speculation that the surface might have to do something with the fingerprint sensor. A similar flex cable has leaked today and it shows off the same surface as well.

iPhone 5S Moniker ‘Confirmed’ On Japanese Carrier’s Website

iPhone 5S Moniker Confirmed On Japanese Carriers Website

There have been a lot of rumors about Apple’s upcoming smartphones. Even if the company doesn’t announce the much rumored budget iPhone, it is definitely going to launch the successor to the iPhone 5. Ever since it released iPhone 3GS after the iPhone 3G, the company has released a smartphone with minor changes and the “S” label every other year. Since it launched the iPhone 5 last year, there has been a lot of speculation that the upcoming smartphone will be called iPhone 5S. The moniker for Apple’s upcoming smartphone has apparently been “confirmed” by Japanese carrier KDDI. It was found hiding in plain sight inside the source code of the carrier’s official website.

KDDI has since removed it, but screenshots have already circulated online. It wouldn’t be impossible to believe that the carrier is getting the website ready in time for the impending launch. This slip-us doesn’t reveal anything significant about the device after all, considering that it has always been widely believed that the iPhone Apple will release this year will be called iPhone 5S. The company is rumored to hold an event on September 10th where it will formally announce both the iPhone 5S as well as the iPhone 5C. [Image via BGR]

Apple Reportedly Blocking Employee Vacations Due To Imminent iPhone And iOS 7 Launch

Rumor has it that Apple is blocking support personnel vacations from September 15th to September 28th. During this time, Apple is expected to release the next generation iPhone, possibly the new budget iPhone as well. Apart from launching the new smartphones, the company is also going to publicly roll out iOS 7 to the public. AppleInsider has reportedly received an internal company document which shows that Apple has blocked vacation time for AppleCare employees in the aforementioned dates, the document is said to have been accessed through a virtual private network from an Apple domain that’s exclusive to internal employees only.

Three of the major U.S. carriers have also reportedly blocked employee vacations in the second half of September, the carriers include T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon. All of these signs point to an imminent iPhone launch. Apple is rumored to unveil two new iPhones on September 10th. It is expected that the new smartphones will be launched across all major U.S. carriers, there are four – add Sprint to the previous list, at the same time. The launch itself has been rumored to take place on September 20th, though it should be kept in mind that the company hasn’t confirmed anything as yet. Gold iPhone 5S Pictures Surface Yet Again

Rumor has it that Apple will offer a color option for the iPhone 5S that it has never offered before. We’ve already seen a purported gold iPhone 5S casing, though a number of analysts believe that it was fake. Today a few pictures of yet another iPhone 5S casing in gold have surfaced online. These pictures show that the casing has a much lighter shade of gold, which is in line with analysts’ predictions. It is believed that the gold color wouldn’t be too over the top, rather it is apparently going to be a lot like champagne.

Isis Ready SIM Cards Arriving At T-Mobile Stores

Isis Ready SIM Cards Arriving At T Mobile Stores

Three of the biggest U.S. carriers, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, are backing a mobile payments solution called Isis. The solution is currently being tested at more than 4,000 locations in Austin and Salt Lake City. The company said last month that national rollout of the service will begin this year. T-Mobile stores are now receiving Isis ready SIM cards ahead of the nationwide rollout.

Some of these SIM cards are said to be pre-packaged with the Samsung Galaxy S4. Isis is currently on track for nationwide launch later this year, out of the top 100 retailers 25 have already jumped on-board. Isis will work with American Express, Chase Freedom and Capital One credit cards. The app will store credit cards, loyalty cards and offers. NFC technology plays a pivotal role, users will be able to make payments at terminals and registers by simply swiping their phones. The Isis app is only available for Android right now, seeing as how there’s no iPhone out yet that comes with NFC built-in. Isis said recently that iPhone support is coming soon. The next generation iPhone that Apple is expected to release next month is said to have NFC technology, but there’s no confirmation about that just yet. [Image via TmoNews]

Isis Mobile Payment Solution National Rollout Commences In 2013

Isis Mobile Payment Solution National Rollout Commences In 2013

Isis is a mobile payments solution that is backed by three of the biggest mobile carriers in the U.S., Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile to be precise. It basically lets people make payments by tapping their phones, NFC technology plays a vital part in this. Isis has been testing the technology at over 4,000 locations in Salt Lake City and Austin, the company said today that it is finally ready to commence national rollout of the service this year.

The service is capable of working with Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone smartphones. Isis says that iPhone support is coming as well. It is possible that Isis might be moving beyond NFC, given the fact that no iPhone released till date has NFC capabilities. Some believe its a subtle hint that the next generation iPhone will come with NFC, but given the fact that iPhones currently account for 39 percent of the U.S. smartphone market, its not like the unavailability of NFC is holding customers back from purchasing iPhones. Ryan Hughes, chief marketing officer at Isis, says that the service now offers a “vastly improved user experience” and that the product itself has been greatly improved.
