Rumor: The Nexus 10 Will Have a 2560×1600 Screen

We know that Google’s announcing something Android in New York City on October 29. We’re pretty sure that there’s going to be a 32GB Nexus 7 introduced, along with possibly a Nexus phone, and the possibility of a 10-inch Nexus Tablet. What we didn’t expect is this rumor that came through the wires today: the Nexus 10 could be packing a 2560×1600 screen with 300ppi. That would be great, and certainly a genuine competitor for the Retina iPad, which went through its second iteration yesterday without the Android camp matching it with a high resolution tablet.

Report: 32GB Nexus 7 with 3G, LG Nexus 4, Android 4.2 and More Will Appear at Upcoming Google Event

Google’s got a surprise coming up on October 29th, and now we might now what it is. All of it. According to reports by The Next Web, it includes a 3G Nexus 7, Android 4.2, the new LG Nexus and maybe even some 10-inch tablet talk. More »

Photo taken by the Nexus 10 spotted on Picasa

Word on the street is that Google might have a 10” Nexus tablet in the works, but since nothing has been confirmed, we guess taking that news with a grain of salt was the best course of action. Well it looks like more evidence has surfaced suggesting that such a device exists, and this is thanks to a photo posted on Picasa. According to the photo’s EXIF data, it revealed that it was taken by a device called the Nexus 10. This seems to be in line with the way Google has been naming their products these days (i.e. Nexus 7 and the rumored Nexus 4).

Unfortunately apart from the photo and the name of the device and resolution of the image (2560×1920), not much else is known but we guess this could very well be one of the early evidence that shows that such a device could be real and in the making. For those who aren’t familiar with the Nexus 10 rumor, it was suggested not too long ago that Google could be going after Apple’s iPad with a 10” device of their own, and that it will be made by Samsung. The rumored specs include a 10” 2560×1600 display and will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 5250 dual-core processor. We’re not sure if Google will unveil the Nexus 10 at their event on the 29th of October, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled nonetheless.

Nexus 10 tablet slated for 2013 release?

For those of you out there who are looking out for a Nexus 10 tablet (which, by the way, remains a rumor as at press time), then you are in for a negative bit of news. It does not look likely to arrive this coming holiday season, so forget about unwrapping your gifts under the Christmas tree and jumping around with the Nexus 10 tablet in hand. Brooke Crothers of CNET, who claims that Samsung are the ones behind the Nexus 10, has pushed back the alleged tablet’s release date all the way to the first half of 2013. Tsk tsk, this means one would have to wait for 8 more months at the most if one were to get their hands on the Nexus 10.

Some of the speculated hardware specifications of the Nexus 10 tablet include an eye-dropping 2,560 x 1,600 resolution display, where it will be accompanied Samsung’s very own Exynos 5 (ARM Cortex-A15) processor. Do you think that the Nexus 10 tablet will ever be a reality, and will it come with such high end specifications?
