So a Nexus 5 apparently got left at a bar. It happens! And when it happens, pictures get taken and we lucky folks get to see what one of the most anticipated phones of the year looks like up close. It matches up quite nicely with the leaked phone in the Android 4.4 Kit Kata promo video—horizontal Nexus branding, large camera lens—and definitely seems to be the same LG phone cruising through the FCC right now.
After a wonderful price cut
When Google unveiled the Android 4.4 KitKat statue, the highlight was not the giant chocolate statue, but rather the fact that a mysterious device was caught on video. The device featured the Nexus branding on the back and many speculated that this could be the upcoming Nexus 5 handset, and thanks to various leaks and FCC filings, the device is becoming all too real, and now according to reports, word on the street has it that the Nexus 5 could be announced on the 14th of October and would be running (obviously) on Android 4.4 KitKat.
Given that the Google Nexus 4 handset was launched last year in October, it wouldn’t be out of the question that the Nexus 5 could see an October launch date as well. The fact that the FCC filings seem to point at the fact that the handset is good to go, an October launch seems pretty likely. Unfortunately at this point in time there is no evidence to corroborate the 14th of October launch date besides a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt for now, but at the same time for Nexus fans, the 14th of October is probably a date you’ll want to mark on your calendars, but do check back with us at a later date for additional details.

New FCC documents spotted by Phone Scoop have given us a closer look at what could be LG’s rumored Nexus 5 handset. Curiously, photos of this D820 were filed alongside documentation for Verizon’s G2 (VS980), but the clear view of the front and back appears to be of the same LG-branded smartphone that was approved by the FCC just a week ago.
The D820 offers same rounded-off top and bottom edges found on the Nexus 4, while stepping away from the glass-covered back of its predecessor. Last week’s FCC filing also points to LG including a 5-inch display and a Snapdragon 800 SoC, boosting not only its size but performance too. There’s also room for Qi wireless charging and support for 7-band LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and dual-band 802.11 b/g/n/ac.
While the shots don’t feature the same giant Nexus logo we saw on the mysterious LG phone used by a Google employee recently, we’re almost certainly looking at the same device. We just hope he got to keep his job.

Could This Be The Nexus 5?
Posted in: Today's ChiliMuch has been said and done about the Nexus 5, with @evleaks actually making an apology, being glad that they are wrong on their call concerning the LG D821, but what you see above here was pulled from an FCC filing which could very well be one of the first close up shots of the alleged Nexus 5. LG looks set to continue being the manufacturer of the next generation Nexus smartphone, and hence so far the naming convention that the world has been using is the Nexus 5, so we will stick to that for familiarity’s sake.
The FCC photos do reveal a rather clear look at the rear of this LG manufactured smartphone, and it does seem to be pretty much consistent with what we saw at the Google Android 4.4 KitKat unveiling video that appeared for just a moment before disappearing into anonymity. Both the camera as well as flash happen to be in the same spot, but one does raise an eyebrow at the visible tiny window located near the top of the device. Apart from that, the FCC images do point to both power button and volume rocker located on either side of the device. I guess it would not take on the LG G2′s unique button placement at the back of the handset after all.

It was not too long ago – just last week, in fact, that we talked about the possibility of the Nexus 5 from LG hitting the FCC for approval, where the FCC filing pointed to a LG D820 model number. While that certainly raised a fair number of eyebrows not to mention the relevant speculation that the LG D820 could very well be the Nexus 5, along comes word from serial leaksters @evleaks that the LG D820 will not be the next generation LG Nexus 5. @evleaks, on the other hand, claims that the LG D820 model will actually be the CDMA version of the LG G2 flagship model instead.
In a short sentence that is no more than 140 characters, our hopes of a Nexus 5 has more or less disappeared in a puff of smoke, since @evleaks has had a pretty accurate record in the past concerning rumors and speculation. They tweeted, “Sorry Nexus fans: LG D820 is just a CDMA G2 variant.” Ah well, in the meantime, I guess we will just have to mope around and wait for the next possible Nexus 5 rumor or leak to emerge, but at the very least we do know the flagship LG G2 is in line for a CDMA model!
The LG D820 Is Not The Nexus 5, Says @evleaks original content from Ubergizmo.
Just the other day a image surfaced on the internet which is allegedly that of the Nexus 5, Google’s upcoming next-gen Nexus handset. While we’re not sure if that is a real rendering of the device or merely a concept, Reddit user Vovicon has taken it upon himself to create a new rendering based on what we do know about the upcoming device, but at the same time making some assumptions about the device as well, with the result pictured above. Vovicon’s rendering of the device is noticeably different from what we saw the other day, but since this is hardly the real deal, some discrepancies are expected.
The Nexus 5 has been rumored to be in the works for a while now, with LG allegedly being the company behind the device again. A possible first-look at the device was spotted in a Google video where the Android 4.4 KitKat statue was unveiled, whereby a mysterious device with the “Nexus” brand written on the back of it, leading to many speculating that this could be the Nexus 5. Additional evidence includes a recent trip to the FCC where some of its specifications were revealed. In any case what do you guys make of this render? Is this a design you could see yourself getting on board with? Or did you prefer the glass backing that LG used in the Nexus 4?

Alleged Nexus 5 Render Spotted
Posted in: Today's ChiliSo, there has been plenty of buzz surrounding a yet unreleased LG Nexus 5 smartphone that made an appearance over in a the Android 4.4 KitKat video, and here we are with what could possibly be a render of the Nexus 5. Apart from that, there was an alleged LG device that has arrived at the FCC for approval, which many also think it is the upcoming Nexus 5. What the FCC filing did reveal was some interesting bits and pieces about the possible Nexus 5, but it did not manage to reveal the design of the upcoming smartphone in its entirety, so I guess we will just have to wait until some time closer to the device’s launch date to find out more.
What you see above is an alleged new Nexus 5 render that should give us a general idea on what the upcoming device will look like. The back side of the alleged device does seem to be inspired by the Nexus 7, sporting a large Nexus logo in tow, where it will be accompanied by a massive camera sensor as well as flash. Not only that, a rather massive display which showcases the Android 4.4 KitKat logo also could have given the game away, and the profile does seem to depict a thinner chassis compared to the existing Nexus 4.

Nexus 5 Allegedly Hits The FCC
Posted in: Today's ChiliRumors of a new Nexus 5 have been floating around ever since Google put up their Android 4.4 KitKat video, where a mysterious handset was spotted in the hands of a Google employee which many have already stepped forward to figure out it could very well be the forthcoming LG Nexus 5. Well, here we are with whispers of what might be the Nexus 5 according to the folks over at the FCC.
This particular device happens to carry the moniker of D820, where it is said to also come with NFC and Qi wireless charging capability, according to the picture revealed. Considering how both NFC and Qi wireless charging capability are features that were emphasized in last year’s Nexus 4, so it would not be surprising either to see both features in the upcoming Nexus smartphone edition. Do bear in mind that we are throwing many assumptions here, and if this were to be the new Nexus device, it would come with a rather bumper harvest of cellular support including LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 17, 25, 26 and 41 in addition to EVDO rev A, quadband GSM and EDGE, pentaband HSPA+, and dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 B, G and N connectivity. If we were to translate that to normal English, it would mean the alleged Nexus 5 will boast of full GSM support, support for LTE on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile.

This involves a meticulous combination of dots plus a mini-leap of faith but a LG phone with the name D820 just cleared the ranks of the FCC. Usually this wouldn’t mean much to us but it does sort of, kind of look like the mysterious Nexus phone that popped up in the Android Kit Kat statue video that was pulled by Google.
