Nexus 5 Could Have Been Teased In Google’s Kit Kit Unveiling Video

Nexus 5 Could Have Been Teased In Googles Kit Kit Unveiling VideoWe expect that it’s about that time of the year when Google will be getting closer to announcing their new Nexus smartphone, which at this point in time has been tentatively known as the Nexus 5. While we’re sure many are wonder what the phone looks like, Google has recently uploaded a video in which they unveiled the new Android 4.4 Kit Kat statue, and in the video (which has since been made private) thanks to the sharp eyes of viewers, a mysterious phone has been spotted. As you can see in the image above, the phone to the right is that of the Nexus 4, while the one on the left is a complete mystery. (more…)

Did Google Accidentally Leak the Next Nexus Phone?

Did Google Accidentally Leak the Next Nexus Phone?

Well, would you look at that. In Google’s unveiling video of the new Kit Kat statue of Android, a mysterious Nexus phone appears in the hands of a Googler taking a picture of said Kit Kat statue. It doesn’t look like any Nexus phone we’ve ever seen, the Nexus logo is horizontal, the camera seems significantly larger and the size and finish looks completely different from the Nexus 4.

Alleged LG Nexus 5 Photo Surfaces

Alleged LG Nexus 5 Photo SurfacesWord on the street is that LG could be making the next Nexus device despite earlier claims and rumors. While we’re waiting for an announcement to be made, the folks at TechTastic have published a photo which they are claiming is that of the LG Nexus 5 handset, or whatever the device will be called upon its release. The image doesn’t really tell us much, although the LG logo on the back of the device does point at it being a LG device, although exactly what model we are looking at is a complete mystery. According to TechTastic, the image above is supposedly that of a tester device and a description of the device apparently reads “Nxs5”, which we guess it doesn’t take much to figure out that it could mean “Nexus 5”.

Based on what we can see of the device, the back portion of the handset is removable, suggesting a removable battery which is in contrast to the Nexus 4. According to the rumors, the Nexus 5 is supposedly somewhat loosely based on the LG G2 albeit with some specifications changed, and last we heard it could see a release in October hinting that an announcement should be made soon. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now but we’ll definitely keep our eyes peeled for more Nexus 5 information in the future.

LG Nexus 5 Sees October Launch (Rumor)

LG Nexus 5 Sees October Launch (Rumor)Just a few days ago, we brought you yet another edition of rumors concerning the Nexus 5 which is said to be manufactured by the folks over at LG. Vietnamese rumor site Tinhte might have something more concrete to add to the situation, where they have leaked out details that the Nexus 5 could very well arrive later this October, which is a further “confirmation” of a rumor that dates all the way back to March. Hmmm, a rumor confirming a rumor? That’s rich. We would like to advise our readers to take all rumors in with a pinch of salt, of course.

Apparently, the alleged Nexus 5 by LG will be based loosely on the recently unveiled LG G2 flagship model, which means it should share some key characteristics from the LG G2 such as its 5.2” Full HD display in addition to a quad-core 2.26GHz Snapdragon 800 processor and a glass back like the Nexus 4 After all, it was also leaked by Tinhte that LG dropped $1.5 billion on a couple of Vietnamese factories, which were the very same factories that previous hands-on videos of prototypes and shipping models were first captured. Do you think that the Nexus 5 will be able to do better than its predecessor by the time it hits the market?

Next-gen Nexus To Be Made By Motorola [Rumor]

Next gen Nexus To Be Made By Motorola [Rumor]Back in 2011 Google announced that they would be acquiring Motorola Mobility for an eye-watering $12bn. This would essentially give Google a smartphone/tablet manufacturer of their own, which some expressed concern over as they feared Google would favor Motorola. The results so far of this acquisition has resulted in the recently announced Moto X – a phone built by Motorola with Google’s blessing, and thankfully a version of Android that seems to be pretty much stock Android save for some added features. Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie Release At Google I/O Reportedly Delayed

Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie Release At Google I/O Reportedly Delayed

A lot has already been rumored about Google’s I/O conference. It is believed that the company will announce a revamped Nexus 7 and a 32GB LTE Nexus 4 instead of a next generation Nexus 5 smartphone. Google was also expected to announce the next major Android platform update, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Its release has now reportedly been delayed by as much as four months to give ample time to OEMs so that they can keep up with the new Android version.

Another reason for this delay could be the launch of Motorola X smartphone. The company’s top executives have sung its praises, perhaps they’ll merge both announcements together? At the moment 29.3% of Android devices are powered by Ice Cream Sandwich, in second place comes Jelly Bean which powers some 23% devices. Pushing back the Key Lime Pie release will aid both OEMs and Google itself. Despite being announced at last year’s I/O, many manufacturers and carriers are still rolling it out to Jelly Bean deprived customers. Launching a new version would further increase the fragmentation, and if this rumor is anything to go by, Google looks intent on avoiding that.
